They seem to me to be pro-birth rather than pro-life. Pro-life would mean caring for someone’s needs for his or her entire life, not just getting them born.
This is just not true. Pro Life groups have plenty of support groups for helping raise Children.
Furthermore, there was a study once (I can’t find it now) that suggested that conservatives & pro-life Democrats donate more money to the poor and to organizations (like Churches) that help the poor in America and around the world more than liberal pro-choicers. Liberals tend to donate to universities, museums, the arts, etc.
The reason some think they are “pro-birth” rather than “pro-afterbirth” is because conservatives are very big on something called “personal responsibility.”
Many conservatives believe that people should not receive financial help without giving something in return. For example: a married couple receiving food stamps - unless there are medical situations that prevent it - at least one of them should have a job. And if that person cannot find a job, then that person should do community service.
Everyone should contribute to society in exchange for their governmental financial assistance. Either by working a job or doing community service (not the same kind of community service as criminals). The only exceptions should be single mothers - who are contributing to society by raising children and the “home bound.” Even older people and disabled are able to work telephones from home, so there is volunteer work they can do.
So conservatives seem mean and angry because conservatives value hard work, hard workers, and personal responsibility. This is why so many hard working poor in rural America refuse to use food stamps or receive aid. It’s also why so many parents in rural America refuse to financially help their children buy homes, etc. Instead they give them loans or help them to physically build a home on their own land, etc.
Conservatives value hard work and believe it creates character. Don’t believe me: watch the series “Real Life Catholic” on Amazon Prime.
God bless
