I hear that Michael Voris has abortion-supporters on his email list, so who’s going to be picketing his small office?

Then again, how many ultrasound machines has “RealCatholicTV” actually donated to mobile pregnancy crisis centers? None.

Well you must know more than me, but then been a person who pays RCTV to watch their tv shows doesn’t exactly carry the same level of honour as been a KofC and nor does it put you on public display as a representative of Catholicism, or involve swearing oaths or making a commitment to follow the rules and beliefs of the group so are the two really comparable?

I think not.

And I don’t think the KofC would appreciate you putting them in the same league as paying subscribers to a television channel either, I do believe they consider membership in their organisation a little bit higher than that.

Instead of attacking our friends at K of C, wouldn’t it be better to spend your time debating pro-choice groups?

Who says it has to be either or and like I said before members of the KofC share the feelings of the picketers.

Having Knights and Catholics who do not share the pro life message are the greatest impediment to effectively combating abortion by Catholics,

When I drive through the local church parking lot on Sunday mornings I see many cars with Obama/Biden stickers plastered all over them, have yet to see an Obama sticker on the same car as a KofC sticker though. There may be a few pro-abortion Knights, I don’t know any and have not been able to find a listing anywhere. I’m waiting for someone to produce a list so we all understand the scope of this problem, if indeed there is a problem. First identify the culprits then try to establish their actual state of grace, I dare you.

One Knight who shares the feelings of the picketers can be found here:

forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=459649

The Knights themselves are shocked by the hypocrisy of allowing people who work against the Catholic Faith to remain members. This is not an attack on the Knights it is a measure to stiffen the resolve of their leadership to put the Catholic Faith first and foremost above connections with powerful and influential people.

If pro-abortion politicians want to join the Knights of Columbus, pray the Rosary, support pro-life initiatives and contribute to the Catholic Church, then that’s fine by me.

If they talk the talk, they may learn to walk the walk.

I believe prayer is more effective than a picket sign.

Some names please.

"Fisher told California Catholic Daily that California Assemblyman Rudy Bermudez (D-Norwalk) is a current member of the Knights and at the same time a forceful opponent of Catholic teachings on the sanctity of life and the natural family.

While CRCOA is compiling a list of Knights in every state and every level of government who have betrayed the most basic of Catholic principles, the organization’s main targets at this time are 16 Massachusetts state lawmakers – all Knights in good standing – who recently defeated a ballot measure in favor of natural marriage. Seven of these 16 Knights were also awarded the highest scores on Planned Parenthood’s political scorecard, indicating that they voted consistently in favor of abortion. "

That betrayal is what prompted the Massachusetts local council of knights to request permission to expel members who were pro abortion and pro gay marriage, the national council refused and now we have what is going on at the moment.

Well said. The Knights are not there to vet the faith of its membership. That is the role of the Church. As long as a member pays dues and is considered by the local Ordinary as a Catholic in good standing then that is that. Certainly, any member of the KofC who is outspoken for the culture of death will never become an official or be in a position to set policy within the KofC.

Those who call for witch hunts ought to look elsewhere if their real concern is fostering life. There are so-called ‘catholic’ organizations who publicly call for abortion and euthanasia - where are the pickets for them?

The information is getting a little better but I really don’t see what the K of C can do, these politicians are technically still practicing Catholics in the eyes of the Church. It appears to me the initial action must come from the respective Bishops, good luck with that!

The Knights should root out the traitors from their own ranks. And if they don’t, they are undeserving of the title.

Harsh, yes, but that’s my opinion. Zechariah was punished with about nine months of mutism for something as simple as momentarily not believing God’s plan for him as told by the archangel Gabriel. What punishment would there be for the Knights, for allowing (!!) within the ranks members who would publicly, as lawmakers of our country, support and defend such an abomination.

No amount of charitable work compensates for this. But the Knights must do it themselves. No one should picket.

I’d be more interested to see what pro abortion politicians the KC “harbors”. The article is pretty short on specifics.
Yep, the article is actually a press release from an obscure organization called " Concerned Roman Catholics of America."
christiannewswire.com/news/5364014566.html

The founder and president of this organization, quoted extensively in the press release, is a traditionalist who casts doubts on Vatican II. He supports the hierarchical nature of the Church, unless a priests or bishop acts contrary to his interpretations. In such a case, all bets are off.

Not so.

Just like a religious order the KofC have their own rules and are meant to set a higher standard than what the Chruch accepts from her worst members.

It should take far less to be excluded from the KofC than it takes to be excommunicated from the Church because been excommunicated from the Chruch is a far greater punishment than been kicked out of the KofC. I can be kicked out of the KofC and still be saved and still receive the sacraments, if I Die while excommunicated I go to hell.

The KofC are responsible for the public conduct of their own members, they are in a position of been role models and therefore must have a higher minimum standard of behaviour expected than the Church requires for membership.

As a long member of the Knights, I am embarrassed by any politician who is a Knight and has perfect naral rating. If such a Knight is a speaker, this event should be picketed displaying that persons name and naral rating.

Out of 1.8 million members, these handful of politicians with membership in the proven-pro-life KofC are “Catholics-In-Name-Only,” and are not apt to be respected and elected leaders or allowed to speak before the convention (which ended over a week ago by the way).

Oh really! Perhaps you might like to read the official K of C policy as cited in the following:

catholicculture.org/commentary/otn.cfm?id=652

Patrick S. Korten, Vice President for Communications Knights of Columbus Supreme Council
“Since our founding by Father Michael J. McGivney in 1882, membership in the Knights has been open to Catholic men at least 18 years of age who are “practical (that is, practicing) Catholics” in union with the Holy See. We leave the determination of who is a “practical” Catholic to the Church, and do not presume to substitute our own judgment for that of the bishop of each diocese. If the bishop considers a man to be a practicing Catholic in good standing, the Order does not attempt to second-guess his decision.”

Second-guessing (and smearing) the Church leadership has become a hobby of some.

Well, well, well. I hope the More-Catholic-than-the-Pope among us who have been posting on this thread read this and take it to heart.
