Somehow humanity managed to survive into the 19th century before heterosexuality was invented, note homosexuality was invented shortly after.
My previous humor aside, I do know what you are talking about, my friend. Still, it’s sad for me to see the lengths to which some poor, hurting souls can torture history and psychology into absurd assertions that homosexuality can be considered mankind’s natural condition. pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/assault/context/katzhistory.html

Similarly tortured beliefs were not unknown in some of our seminaries not all that long ago, and I would not bet that it has been eradicated at St. Luke Institute , Johns Hopkins and other places. Dr. John Money’s sanctioned experiments at Johns Hopkins would turn the stomach of any normal person. pop.org/content/deconstruction-of-gender-1798

Given the “nature vs. nurture” and “gender is just a social construct” beliefs of some people, it’s hardly surprising, then, that even some prelates want to examine Church “discipline” regarding homosexuality and the sacraments at the Synod on the Family. For me (and, I believe, most other prelates) it’s a sad thing to see Church leaders go outside their competency in a public forum and confuse the Faithful.

‘It’s a Mistake to See Francis as Wanting Kasper’s Proposals’

Good article. I think Austen Ivereigh was playing peacemaker, and that’s good.

He also, I think, was being very kind to the person who had been charged by the Holy Father with communicating to the participants how the Synod was to proceed. The “conservative” (orthodox) participants seemed a little upset at, for example, having been blindsided by the miraculously quick translation into various languages and release to the media of the liberally one-sided interim report even before the participants got their copies. Was that what Francis wanted–a public dispute? Of course not, and Ivereigh agrees.

The Vatican press office is not known for speed (or accuracy in English) catholicnewsagency.com/news/how-an-incorrect-translation-of-the-synod-report-created-chaos-24767/ So what happened? Was it planned?

It’s a misreading to see Pope Francis as seeking to impose a concrete solution to anything. He sees himself as initiating and overseeing a process, which is basically of the Holy Spirit. His own criteria for discernment are: If you get people together who are faithful to the magisterium, who speak boldly from their own experience and listen humbly to each other, and you give the process sufficient time for a proper discernment, then, if there is a convergence at the end of it, you can be confident that is of the Holy Spirit.
Every time (and more) that I go to adoration I pray this way for the Holy Father: That he be given a great gift of discernment to mystically perceive and understand anything which is contrary to truth; that his mind and will be given over to the Holy Spirit, that he be enabled to clearly identify any deceitful and harmful forces, that St. Michael do battle for him and protect him against Satan and those he might use to accomplish the destruction of the Church. Clearly this is a *spiritual *battle.

That has been my prayer for him, too, but I add that he be granted the grace to overcome what he admits is his weakness; speaking off the cuff. He seems to discount the confusion and fear it causes the Faithful when the media jumps on his loaded words and gleefully exacerbates the confusion.

I also pray that the person in the Vatican Press Office in charge of translating the Pope’s words into English be removed immediately.

I second the motion.
