Then why are we judged on our works if our works cannot help us? While I agree that our works are because of Gods grace given to us do we not have the right to reject or accept this grace.
If not why is there sin if we do not play our own part in our Salvation by rejecting or accepting God?
Granted Christ freed us from Original Sin because we could not do it ourself. ANd he also left us himself in the Church by his Grace and sacraments if we do fall from Grace we can be forgiven. Authority he gave to his Apostles.
But back to the point if Christ DID IT ALL for us what are we being judged for and why? Your reasoning makes no sense.
As I saidā¦youāre speaking āCatholicāā¦I donāt know how to answer your questions speaking āCatholicāā¦I do not believe he established the Catholic churchā¦nor do I believe water baptism cleanses from original sinā¦I donāt really believe in āoriginal sināā¦nor do I believe he gave āauthorityā to the apostles to establish an heirachal āchurchāā¦so you see the difficulty we have in communication.
Our works do not determine if we are āsavedā of notā¦they DO determine our faithfulness as Christians and are used to determine our place in the Kingdomā¦whether we be a ādoor manā or the āpresident of a companyāā¦but it takes place āin heavenāā¦we are THERE already by grace through faith redeemed in Christā¦
Your āreasoning makes no senseā to me eitherā¦but thatās okā¦I donāt have to understand in just your wayā¦I seek to know God tooā¦I just understand things differentlyā¦it is Godās work and His alone in Christā¦I am the ācanvasāā¦He is the Painter.
A passage Catholics often use as āproof textā of purgatoryā¦is used by Protestants to seek to understand how works playā¦
"For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
Every manās work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every manās work of what sort it is.
If any manās work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
If any manās work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yourās;
Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yourās; "
I look at Catholicism and scratch my head in wonderā¦but thatās why Iām not Catholicā¦it makes no sense to me in light of the Nature and Work of God in Christ.
23And ye are Christās; and Christ is Godās.
