Praying that Archbishop Cordileone will not be ousted and that Pope Francis will support him and not listen to the prominent Catholics who would like to see him replaced.

Like the Archdiocese said, just because they are prominent does not mean they speak for the whole Catholic community in San Francisco.

I never though the day would come that people would be calling for the removal of a Catholic Archbishop for upholding Catholic teaching.

Maybe we can help him with our signature to this petition here. Take a stand with those like Archbishop Cordileone who stand tall for the Faith! They only need 7,156 more signatures to reach their goal!

Peace, Mark

I signed it.

San Francisco needs a good Catholic Bishop like Archbishop Cordileone.

There have been years of relative quiet and social acceptance of the Catholic Church by its neighbors in many countries throughout the world. But here and there we often see persecutions too. It has been thus from the beginning.

Occasionally a saint is even persecuted by the Church (as it e.g. sometimes puts the saint under disciplines that seem to thwart their ministries for a time).

**John 15:18 ** "If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first.
19 If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you.
20 Remember the word I spoke to you, 8 ‘No slave is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.
21 And they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me.
Sometimes I think places named for Angels and Saints are particular targets for the devil.

The Communist Revolution began in St. Petersburg, Russia. Hollywood and its excesses are part of Los Angeles (Spanish for the Angels). San Francisco might be one of these too.

Just months ago Cardinal Cordileone’s Diocese was host to the West Coast Walk for Life, drawing thousands to a parade through the heart of San Francisco. Which is probably part of why his enemies are so frantic to have him removed. IMO.

Join me in prayers that Pope Francis will publicly support Archbishop Cordileone as he should. This newspaper ad reminds me of the full page ad that Clergy did in 1968 condemning Humanae Vitae.
Most of the comments after the article support him. I hope they keep supporting him. Those prominent Catholics in the area may be intimidated by gays to support them or face retribution. SA is a big gay area. Praying the Archbishop can stay strong. Jesus also went out into the areas where the sinners were and did not stay behind closed doors.

I don’t think Catholics should be doing this type of thing. You can’t lobby the Holy Spirit.

Besides, Pope Francis doesn’t seem like someone who will cave to any kind of preassure except what he receives from the Spirit.

In an unprecedented move, more than 100 prominent Roman Catholic donors and church members signed a full-page ad running Thursday in The Chronicle that calls on Pope Francis to replace San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone for fostering “an atmosphere of division and intolerance.”

doesn’t take Catholic teaching seriously .

youtube.com/watch?v=k1g8WCA7mJk < per the first sentence. I was reminded of this. Buuuut maybe the Doors’ Jim Morrison is (was) not the best source for valid theology. These “Catholics” are prominent like a zit on the nose … not truly a part of the body when they stage a mutiny against a faithfully teaching Bishop. IMO.

Per the second sentence … Pope Francis HAS had to correct some foreign language versions of things he’s said in Latin, Spanish and Italian (notably some English language translation “gaffes” that had to be clarified). But that’s not the same as “caving” of course.

Today’s Cultural Catholics defending evil, not good. The persecution of this good and faithful AB will end in bearing fruit for the Church, all according to the Lord’s plan.

The sad fact is, I’m not the least bit surprised by the reaction by Catholics to Archbishop Cordileone. I seem to remember a similar reaction to Sister Jane Dominic Laurel. Remember her? She’s the Dominican nun who got lambasted for the presentation she made to Catholic students at Charlotte Catholic High School in North Carolina. You can read about that story here. The presentation on human sexuality was based on Pope John Paul II’s “theology of the body.” She has a doctorate in sacred theology from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome. The students and faculty were outraged. .They too launched an online petition. The subject matter that she was discussing?..you probably already guessed it! Fr. Z defended her here .

Peace, Mark

Interesting, they are expressing their distaste of division and intolerance by being divisive and intolerant
