The other day I was channel surfing and on EWTN there was an interview with Tim Conway.

He had converted to Catholicism at a young age … while in college, if I recall correctly.

He was discussing his work on television and how his life revolved around the practice of his religion. And on the general changes in morals and ethics.

Anyway, can other readers/ posters name other prominent people who have converted to Catholicism.

Granted this is rather a literary- (and English) focused list: but each of these people are or were certainly prominent

Graham Greene, Evelyn Waugh, G.K. Chesterton, Malcolm Muggeridge, Muriel Spark.

Less narrowly literary, but probably more important in the scheme of things: Cardinal Newman.

and among french writers: Francois Mauriac, Jacques Maritain.

and among russian writers: Venedikt Yerofeyev

Just a few who spring to mind (and except for Cardinal Newman) all of them in the 20th century

Radio talk show host, best -selling author, former clerk to Supreme Court Judge Clarence Thomas, Breast Cancer survivor, Laura Ingraham is a Catholic convert:thumbsup: Love her!

Was Oscar Wilde a convert or a revert?

Also Franz Liszt was ordained late in life.

Robert Bork

I thought Justice Thomas was a “RE-VERT” [not that I like the trm … it just seems to be common language 🤷 ]

But perhaps he was a convert 🙂 … left the faith  … then came back 👍

Former Evangelical Theological Society President Francis Beckwith. Last Spring.

He is indeed a revert, late 1990s.

Yes. He is awesome. And Catholic.Of course, those two words are synonymous.
Sweet! I read his New Sun series three times (had not converted yet myself), loved it, but could never really penetrate it. I think I’ll give it another whirl and put on my papal goggles. 😃

That sure makes the gifting of Terminus Est make more sense.

Me.

Kidding ( am not prominent 😛 )

Recently, a Muslim born man named Magdi Allam. He is an author and he was just baptised by the Pope at Easter Vigil past.
