Can someone who really understands the Catholic prayer give an example of a typical intercessory prayer to an earthly dead saint. Please no Mary example. Thanks in advance.

What is “an earthly dead saint”?

Hi seek, 👋

**My pleasure:👍 **Dear Dead Eartly Saint, if you exist anywhere except in seeking12’s mind, hear this prayer and interceed for all people who ask stupid questions! Do not allow them to go through life thinking that all real saints are dead, like you are! Allow seeking12’s soul to come alive in the truth of God’s word. Amen"

It was indeed my pleasure to pray for you! You have my permission to use that prayer as a typical prayer to a dead saint, so long as you do not change one word! By the way the communion of saints is made up of the Departed, the Living and the yet to born followers of God and His son Jesus!

God Bless

**You represent Christ very well as many of your friends here have demonstrated. Do you believe you represent your faith very well? You know what I was asking for; I don’t think it was a stupid question; it is a similar question that the Apostles ask the Lord.

I’ve been here a short time and cannot believe the arrogance and lack of humility I have seen from some of you; and having fun at it; kind of disgusting.**

Hi seek, 👋

Just because you don’t think it was a stupid question, doesn’t mean it wasn’t a stupid question. How would you be able to judge that? All Saints are alive with God. You said it was a similar question that the Apostles ask the Lord. Well is that is the case use that answer! I am not the Lord, and you aren’t acting like someone looking for enlightenment! I love you but will ot put up with your insults How dare you call me Arrogant! You can become a member of Christ’s church just like I am. I believe that I represent the One True and Catholic Faith very well. I don’t lie, and I am fearless in telling any people who practice false beliefs that they aren’t Christians, nor followers of Christ! The Catholic chuch is the only real Christian church! Eastern and Orthordox and Roman make up the three arms of the Catholic church here on earth. Everyother faith is false, countetrfeit and defective in their beliefts and practices. Is that clear to you?

Catholics place ultimate interpretive authority in the Pope and Magesterium. Conservative Protestants place it with the individual Christian and his/her personal interpretation of the corrupt versions of the bible.
Catholics teach that the bread and wine during the Mass becomes the actual body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus. Jesus demands that His followers eat and drink to obtain eternal life. Protestants generally regard the two components as symbolic of Jesus’ body and blood, thereby condemning themselves to a symbolic Hell?

**Catholics believe in the family of Christians, Protestants and cults believe that dead people are just dead! So sad! **
**
The gap between the two groups appears to be increasing over time. Reunification of the so called christian groups with Jesus’ real church appears impossible. Perhaps the biggest problem is the CC will not betray the teachings of Christ and the Protestants holding dear to the false teaching of Luther, Calvin and other foolish leaders instead of Jesus’. They refuse to submit to the authority of the RCC. **

We should pray that this changes. Everyone deserves to experience the fulliness of the real faith that Jesus gave His church!

God Bless

I think you are overreacting. If you feel that post was inappropriate, why not disprove it through biblical exegesis rather than, pardon me, whining?

Eph. 3:14-15 says we are all one family (the Holy Spirit unites all Christians and that bond transcends “death” – see Romans 8:35-39), in Heaven and on Earth.

In Hebrews 12:1, the “cloud of witnesses” (“nephos marturon”) – the saints who have preceded us to life in Heaven, surrounding us, is likened to a great amphitheatre of witnesses to the earthly race, and they actively participate and cheer us (the runners) on, in our race to salvation. If you can’t see in Revelation 5:8, 6:9-11, and 8:3-4 that the saints are quite alive and interceding, I guess you’re in denial.

(Heck, even in the OT, we see in 1 Sam. 28:7-20 when the deceased prophet Samuel appears from sheol obviously and converses with Saul, which is confirmed by Sirach 46:13,20… God orchestrated this to punish Saul’s turning to the witch.)

You are clueless as to what Protestants act, do or believe; part of your lack of humility, arrogance, pride and misunderstanding. You are a lousy representative for the Catholic faith, from an outside perspective. You know the saying, no one cares how much you know until they know how much you care. There is no doubt that you do not represent Christ; for no representative of Christ could act this way and upon reviewing your other posts, this is more of a game and hobby for you. I really hope you change your unbelief for your own sake.

Can someone who is kind and understands the Catholic position of “prayer to “dead” saints” give an example of a typical intercessory prayer you might say. No Rosary example please. Thanks in advance.

I don’t pray to “dead saints”!

I ask the the Saints, who are alive in Christ, though not physically present, to intecede on my behalf. For example:Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you, blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

Why do you want someone other than Jesus to intercede for you?

Clearly you have access to the ultimate authority, just ask and ye shall receive.

Can someone give an example of a typical intercessory prayer to a saint. (other than the Rosary) Thanks in advance.
I found some:

Here is one for the Guardian Angel:
Dear Angel, in His goodness God gave you to me to guide, protect, and enlighten me, and to bring me back to the right way when I go astray.
Encourage me when I am disheartened, and instruct me when I err in judgment.
Help me to become more Christlike, and so some day to be accepted into the company of Angels and Saints in heaven.
Amen.

ACT OF CONSECRATION
TO SAINT ANNE

O Good and merciful Saint Anne,
in order to honour you with more zeal,
and pray to you with more confidence,
I come to consecrate myself to you,
for time and for eternity.

Hence I choose you,
after the most Blessed Virgin,
for my spiritual mother,
and my protectress before God.
I place in your keep my body and my soul,
my temporal needs
and my eternal interests.

I consecrate my mind to you,
that you may enlighten me in all things,
with the light of faith;
my heart,
that you may keep it full of love for Jesus and Mary;
my will,
that you may forever
keep it subsmissive to that of God;
and my body,
that you may make it forever
the temple of the Holy Ghost.

Obtain for me,
O Good Saint Anne,
the grace to fulfil faithfully,
after your example,
all the duties of my state of life
and to practise, like you,
all the virtues necessary to my salvation.
Grant that after having honoured and loved you on earth,
O dear and Good Saint Anne,
I may one day go to glorify you,
with God, Mary, the saints and the angels,
during all eternity.

Amen.

MARIAN PRAYER OF
SAINT GREGORY OF NAREK (A.D. 1010)

Assist me by the wings of your prayers,
O you who are called the Mother of the living,
so that on my exit from this valley of tears
I may be able to advance without torment
to the dwelling of life
that has been prepared for us
to lighten the end of a life burdened by my iniquity.

Healer of the sorrows of Eve,
change my day of anguish into a feast of gladness.
Be my Advocate,
ask and supplicate.
For as I believe in your inexpressible purity,
so do I also believe in
the good reception that is given to your word.

O you who are blessed among women,
help me with your tears
for I am in danger.
Bend the knee to obtain my reconciliation,
O Mother of God.

Be solicitous for me for I am miserable,
O Tabernacle of the Most High.
Hold out your hand to me as I fall,
O heavenly Temple.

Glorify your Son in you:
may he be pleased to operate Divinely in me
the miracle of forgiveness and mercy.
Handmaid and Mother of God,
may your honour be exalted by me,
and may my salvation be manifested through you.

Why do you want someone other than Jesus to intercede for you?
Why not? I need all the help I can get. Have you not read?
The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects.

James 5:16
Clearly you have access to the ultimate authority, just ask and ye shall receive.
I also have access to a army of prayer warriors, far more righteous than I. Why would I not request their aid in my quest?

Sorry, no. Catholics believe that those who die in Christ are “alive forevermore”. Not only that, they are no longer bound to the “earth” after they depart from their bodies, they are present with the Lord.

I might ask a saintly Christian friend of mine “please pray for me, now, and at the hour of ________”.

I might ask a saint who has gone on to their heavenly reward something like “St. Therese, please help me to understand your way of following Jesus in the little things. I want to make every moment of ever day consecrated to Him, just as you did”.

Actually, I dont’ think he understood it any better than I did. 🤷

We all fall short in many ways. 😦

At the risk of being presumptuous, I think that if you continue to spend time on internet discussion forums, you’ll get used to that sort of thing (from Catholics and Protestants mind you).

Yes, but my brothers and sister in Christ also have access to the ultimate authority, so it therefore makes sense for them to pray for my intentions too.

Thanks, I appreciate that it does go to prove a few things. We are fallen creatures and the many are the many and the few are the few. That is one of the problems there are many more people professing to know Jesus than those Jesus knows; sad but true.
