Thanks for the links. It didn’t cross my mind to go into these.

The address by the Holy Father, the late Pope John Paul 2 is quite encouraging :

In the joy and peace of the Holy Spirit I welcome the Council of the International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Office. As you celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the beginning of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, I willingly join you in giving praise to God for the many fruits which it has borne in the life of the Church. The emergence of the Renewal following the Second Vatican Council was a particular gift of the Holy Spirit to the Church. It was a sign of a desire on the part of many Catholics to live more fully their Baptismal dignity and vocation as adopted sons and daughters of the Father, to know the redeeming power of Christ our Savior in a more intense experience of individual and group prayer, and to follow the teaching of the Scriptures by reading them in the light of the same Spirit who inspired their writing. Certainly one of the most important results of this spiritual reawakening has been that increased thirst for holiness which is seen in the lives of individuals and in the whole Church.

At the end of this Second Millennium, the Church needs more than ever to turn in confidence and hope to the Holy Spirit, who unceasingly draws believers into the Trinitarian communion of love, builds up their visible unity in the one Body of Christ, and sends them forth on mission in obedience to the mandate entrusted to the Apostles by the Risen Christ. We must be convinced that a deepening awareness of the Person and work of the Holy Spirit responds to the needs of our times, for the Spirit “is at the center of the Christian faith and is the source and dynamic power of the Church’s renewal” (Dominum et Vivificantem, 2). Indeed, the Holy Spirit is the “principle agent of the Church’s mission” (Redemptoris Missio, 21), sustaining and guiding the efforts to bring the graces of Pentecost to all people.

Since the gifts of the Holy Spirit are given for the building up of the Church, you, as leaders of the Charismatic Renewal, are challenged to seek increasingly effective ways in which the various groups you represent can manifest their complete communion of mind and heart with the Apostolic See and the College of Bishops, and cooperate ever more fruitfully in the Church’s mission in the world. On the international level, your Office’s close links with its Episcopal Advisor, Bishop Paul Cordes, and the coordination of Ecclesial Movements and Associations provided by the Pontifical Council of the Laity, are important means of fostering such cooperation, which is so essential for the prudent stewardship of the Spirit’s manifold gifts. Only in this way will the renewal truly serve its ecclesial purpose, helping to ensure that “the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God” [Col. 2:19].

The Charismatic Renewal can also help foster the growth of a solid spiritual life based on the Holy Spirit’s power at work in the Church, in the richness of her Tradition, and particularly in her celebration of the Sacraments. Frequent reception of the Eucharist and regular use of the Sacrament of Penance are essential for a genuine life in the Holy Spirit …

She appears in Chicago also

THE VIRGIN MARY IN ILLINOIS
In recent times, Mary has also reportedly appeared to six children in war-torn Bosnia, an event that has attracted more than 11 million people from around the globe. One such man was Joseph Reinholtz, a retired railroad worker from Hillside, Illinois. He had been suffering from blurred vision and periods of blindness and journeyed to Bosnia to pray and meet with one of the children who has seen Mary, Vicka. She prayed over Reinholtz in 1987 and upon his return to Illinois, his sight slowly returned.
Reinholtz returned to Bosnia in 1989 and Vicka then instructed him that he was to look for a large crucifix, next to a three-branched tree. Here, he was to pray. He later discovered this location at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside and began to make frequent trips to the spot to pray. On August 15, 1990, Reinholtz had his first visitation from Mary and it was repeated on November 1, when she returned with St. Michael and three other angels. Soon, word of the visitations leaked out and thousands of people began flocking to the cross. It wasn’t long before complaints about the number of spectators caused the cemetery officials to move the cross to another location in 1992. It is very accessible now, having a paved parking lot next to it.
The visitations have reportedly continued and occur every day but Tuesday, which is coincidentally the day that the Archdiocese of Chicago placed a “restriction of obedience” on Reinholtz and asked that he not visit the cemetery. But the late Hillside man is not the only person to report miracles at the site of the Queen of Heaven cross. There have been dozens of photographs taken here which purport to show angels and various types of light phenomena. Others claim to have seen blood coming from the cross and have reported the scent of roses in the air.
I visited the site a couple of years ago and found it surrounded by the faithful, praying and passing out religious literature. I was also shown a number of the “miraculous” photos taken here and confess that it looked like bad photography and a lot of sun glare to me… but cannot argue about the importance of the photos in the lives of the believers.
Sadly, Joseph Reinholtz suffered a stroke in February 1995 and was hospitalized, where Mary continued to visit him. He passed away in December 1996, but his legacy remains in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, where a crucifix stands and where those who believe still experience miraculous visitations.
The Lady of the Snows Shrine in Belleville is also the setting for visits from the Virgin Mary. She was first encountered by Ray Doiron in 1993 and has been appearing ever since. According to Jay Rath’s book, THE I-FILES, Doiron had been through three near-death experiences and was deaf in his right ear before being visited by Mary. He had been sleeping one afternoon when he heard a soft voice that instructed him to go to the nearby Lady of Snows Shrine, which is a duplicate of the shrine at Lourdes. He was told to first go on February 11 and then on the 13th each successive month.
At first the visitations were kept secret, but were always the same. There would be a strong wind, that would suddenly stop, and then a statue at the shrine would turn blue, just before a bright light would appear. From the light would appear the form of Mary. She would speak and impart lessons on Doiron, which he would write down to keep from making mistakes. Later, he was allowed to bring a small number of friends to the shrine and then was told to make the visitations public. Since then, hundreds have visited the site, although Mary stated that her final appearance would be May 13, 1999.
WEEPING & BLEEDING STATUES AND ICONS
Illinois plays host to a few “miraculously” weeping statues and relics as well, although most seem to be confined to the Chicago area. One such relic was a painting of the Virgin Mary that was hanging in the St. Nicholas Albanian Orthodox Church in 1986. One day, the painting suddenly began to weep, a phenomenon that continued for the next seven months, during which time water also dripped from her fingers. Hundreds of people came to witness the event but the icon abruptly ceased crying in July 1987. A year later, the weeping started up again, but didn’t last long. At that time, the tears that she produced were used to anoint 19 other icons in Pennsylvania and they all began weeping too.
A barely remembered strange event took place at St. Adrian’s Church on Chicago’s south side in May 1970. According to witnesses, the 1700-year old remains of St. Maximina, a first-class relic, began oozing watery blood.
Several icons at Apanacio and St. John on the south side of the city reportedly began weeping in the early 1990’s. A icon panel of the Virgin Mary began weeping oil at the beginning of Holy Week in Cicero during April 1994. The icon was located at St. George’s Antiochan Orthodox Church. Eight orthodox bishops examined the tears and declared them to be genuine. Mary has continued to cry and the relic has since been renamed Our Lady of Cicero.
The Virgin of Guadalupe visited Hanover Park in 1997, appearing on the wall of an apartment complex located at 2420 Glendale Terrace. The image appeared from shadows created by a security light that was angled at the building. When the light was turned off, the image vanished, but the faithful remained, convinced that a holy miracle had taken place. Today, at the southwest end of the parking, a tent is standing next to the building where it happened. Inside are hundreds of votive candles and a statue of the Virgin Mary.

Thank you, the Holy Mother talks of Pope John Paul II frequently, he is favoured…Wonderful person and a great loss…It is said he stated " I would have visited Medujorjge if I were not Pope."

If only more were like him…

According to the local visionary she was told by Holy Mother to remain annonymous because it would be a large money maker. The Holy Mother stated her true messages would be lost. It is true when it is a money maker it is like being a movie star someone takes charge and changes everything, for money sake…A visionary could be someones possession…That is what happened when the Medjujorge children came to America many years ago as a doctors guest he tried to take control of them in California, as their agent. They are careful where they go.
That’s nonsense. Which visionaries can you point to which have their identified themselves are rolling in dough? There is also no biblical precedent for anonymity.

The Holy Mother was appearing regularly before large crowds in Egypt the government decided to charge admission and she discontinued appearing…also some locals make money on Hotel fares and food vendors and other business…want to capitlize on it

Here is the Holy Mother’s request to the Batavia Visionary:

May 30, 2004 Pentecost - A Private Message

SPECIAL NOTE; I was asked to write about my life and reveal my identity for those in the future who may be studying the messages I received from Our Lady of Light. Of course, I prayed about this since Our Lady had requested me to remain her “hidden worker.” When I asked Our Lady about doing this, she gave me the following message and told me that it should be kept in my recorded files in order to avoid confusion regarding this matter.

My child,

Be at peace, you are loved. It is your wish and my desire that you remain my hidden worker. Know that God works His wondrous deeds through many different hands and His ways are always mysterious to behold.

The proof of my visits here (in this area) as Our Lady of Light will be shown in the fruit that it produces. Know that much ‘fruit’ already accumulates.

Again I request that your identity remain cloaked now and evermore. I have already given many signs to those in need of them and any further proof asked for will come from heaven. Remain hidden. It is the Father’s will.

The gift of silence was given you and it will remain ever so. It is also necessary for the protection of your own spirit, which you cannot comprehend in your human mentality.

Know that the removal of your identity from this work will prove to give more credibility to it because there will be no visible earthly reward for you.

I remain with you and help you to endure the crosses given you. I ask that you always be humble of spirit and stay ever strong in your faith.

I am the Mother of Light and your Mother.

As you drink of this “Living Water” - be ever grateful to her and be thankful to her for the love and guidance she constantly offers you.
My Mother stays with you - and I am always with you.
Be at peace. I am Jesus - your Lord and your Master.

You said that the alleged visionary was told not to reveal her name because she would profit from it. You didn’t say anything about the government taking advantage of the situation, something they could do whether or not the person remained anonymous. Also, I do not believe that the Blessed Mother would punish the people for something the Egyptian government did.

Do not believe everyone who claims to be hearing from Mary. Remember, Satan can appear as an angel of light.

I think this is very important in the all the links you guys gave me!
Whether these charisms be very remarkable or more simple and widely diffused, they are to be received with thanksgiving and consolation since they are fitting and useful for the needs of the Church. Extraordinary gifts are not to be rashly desired nor is it from them that the fruits of apostolic labors are to be presumptuously expected. Those who have charge over the Church should judge the genuineness and proper use of these gifts, through their office, not indeed to extinguish the Spirit but to test all things and hold fast to what is good (cf. 1 Thes. 5:12, 19- 21). [Lumen Gentium 12]
I think it still makes me no less skeptical, which is good according to the Vatican. I won’t desire such gifts and only allow Christ to give them according to His own desires. I prefer contemplation, to singing loudly, but I don’t mind it some of the time. I will continue to adore the Lord.

All visionaries respond to her requests. It is not good to displease her, Jesus or the Father. She is known to give different directions, I have studied the Holy Mother responses for years

There are videos and it was televised.
zeitun-eg.org/assiut.htm

The Apparition at Zeitoun (a suburb of Cairo), Egypt was profound and heavily photographed. The apparitions were witnessed by thousands of onlookers, of different religions, languages and nationalities. The apparition in this case was silent, differing from those in which she would usually appear initially to children, and communicate with them in their native language.

The events began on the 2nd of April, 1968 at a Coptic Orthodox Church in the Cairo suburb of Zeitoun. Suddenly, during the evening hours, two Muslim mechanics and some women on the street noticed movements on the dome of the church. The movements resolved into the figure of a young woman, holding on to the cross on the dome. The onlookers believed that she was about to commit suicide, one yelling at her not to jump, while the other ran for the priest. Then one female onlooker distinguished the image more clearly and announced loudly, “It is our Holy Mother Mary!”

For the next three years, the apparitions appeared almost every night, sometimes clearly and sometimes vaguely. She was witnessed smiling, bowing, blessing, praying, holding the cross, kneeling at the cross, and waving an olive branch. The images were photographed, televised, and witnessed by many, including the then president of Egypt, Abdul Nasser. Oddly, some saw the apparitions clearly, while others could see nothing. Christians prayed the Rosary while Muslims chanted that God has chosen her above all women. It was only when the government, in 1971, began to sell tickets of admission, thinking they could make money, that the apparitions ceased to manifest.

The event inspired many conversions to Christianity as well as thousands of miraculous healings. The Muslim mechanic who had first pointed to the Lady of the dome on that first night had been scheduled for amputation of his hand the following day The next day, when the bandages on his hand were removed, the hand was found to be totally healed. Previously a hotbed of terrorist activity and crowded with refugees from Civil Wars in Africa, there was a calming effect by the apparition and an overall shift toward peace, especially between Islam and Christianity.

For those who are severely ill and who have found little hope otherwise in treatments, a journey to the pathways where the Mary Apparitions have appeared, is not an unreasonable search. Some, more current activity, which is known to continue to this day, could provide the impetus required for the healing. You do not have to be religiously inclined, nor as many do, make promises to the entities, as if the prospective healing is something you must negotiate. If the illnesses that ravage your body have changed your soul and made you a better person, then there is a good chance changes can come about from seeking the locales of divine visits.

Hundreds flock to Egyptian town for glimpse of Virgin Mary
September 4, 2000
ASSIUT, Egypt (AP) – Thousands of Egyptians and some foreigners have been flocking to this southern Egyptian city in recent weeks where residents say they’ve seen an apparition of the Virgin Mary and a flock of exceptionally large, white pigeons in an inexplicable shining light.

Since the first reported apparition on Aug. 17 in skies surrounding the dome of Saint Mark’s church, villagers and visitors have descended on the neighborhood, waiting in the streets and on rooftops for a glimpse of Mary.

The city’s local Coptic Christian synod released a statement on Sunday stating that civilians had reported seeing “spiritual features” on several occasions and at different times since Aug. 17. The statement did not say whether religious leaders had confirmed any sightings personally.

“I haven’t seen any light,” Father Baki Sedka, head of the first biblical church (protestant), a neighboring church to Saint Mark, told The Associated Press on Monday night. “I stayed up all night and I didn’t see anything except a few pigeons.”

“The appearance of a few pigeons doesn’t justify a miracle,” Sedka said. “This case needs a lot of consideration before we can authoritatively assert these sightings.”

Since word of the apparition spread, the synod said thousands of Egyptians and some foreigners have come to Assiut, 180 miles (290 kilometers) south of Cairo, the capital, where they’ve been singing hymns and reciting prayers while waiting for the next vision to appear.

Copts make up less than 10 percent of the population in Egypt, where Islam is the state religion. Assiut has a substantial Coptic Christian population, but also has been a hotbed for Islamic fundamentalism and sight of violent attacks targeting Christians and tourists.

POPE SAYS JUBILEE IS OCCASION TO REDISCOVER MARY
Conclusion of International Congress Dedicated to Mother of Christ

VATICAN CITY, SEPT. 24, 2000 (ZENIT.org).- On a day marking two Marian events, John Paul said, “The Jubilee of the Son is also the Jubilee of the Mother.”

The events were the end of an international congress dedicated to Mary, and the Jubilee of Marian Shrines around the world.

During a Mass in St. Peter’s Square, attended by 50,000 faithful, the Holy Father spoke about the love that Christ’s followers, and not just Catholics, should have for Mary.

John Paul II cited a passage from St. Mark’s Gospel in which Christ embraces a child and gives him as an example to his disciples. The Holy Father said it is a lesson given by the one who, although above all, did not hesitate to become “the least of all.”

In this way, the Pope explained, one can understand better Mary’s greatness, whose primacy is “rooted in humility,” and whose privileged relation with the Holy Spirit “did not free her from the hardships of the human condition during her earthly life.”

“Mary totally lived the daily reality of so many families of her time,” he said. “She experienced poverty, pain, exile, misunderstanding. Her spiritual greatness does not ‘distance’ her from us: She traveled our road and has been in solidarity with us in the ‘pilgrimage of faith.’”

The celebration of 2000 years of Christianity, therefore, is also dedicated to the Virgin, the Holy Father said. Hence, he added, the Jubilee is not just an opportunity to live with a stronger love for Christ, but also to experience “renewed Marian devotion.”

The Bishop of Rome specified the fundamental principles that must guide this devotion for the Virgin that, at times, has been tainted by superstitions. Above all, he said, true devotion “must be well founded on Scripture and Tradition,” and that the believer must find in the liturgy “a sure orientation for the most spontaneous manifestations of popular religiosity.”

The Pope also said that devotion must not be based on words but “must be expressed by an effort to imitate Holy Mary on the road of personal improvement.”

In order to overcome “every form of superstition and vain credulity,” the Pope advised the faithful to accept “in the right way, in harmony with ecclesial discernment, the extraordinary manifestations that the Blessed Virgin often grants for the good of the people of God.”

The Holy Father called for healthy prudence given the numerous Marian apparitions that are claimed today around the world. Yet, he added, Mary continues to communicate her message of love to people, at times in a surprising manner.

Finally, if love for the Virgin is real, “it must always be able to rise to the source of the greatness of Mary, in an incessant ‘Magnificat’ of praise to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.”

At the end of the Mass, before reciting the Angelus with the pilgrims, the Pope mentioned the places of Marian devotion that celebrated their Jubilee today.

Along with Lourdes (France), Fatima (Portugal), Guadalupe (Mexico), Lujan (Argentina), Jasna Gora (Poland), he mentioned the lesser-known shrines, such as Lavang (Vietnam), Walsingham (England), Knock (Ireland), the Immaculate Conception (Washington, D.C.), Our Lady of the Good Voyage (Philippines), Velankanni (India), Ostra Brama (Lithuania), Merced (Ecuador), Montserrat (Puerto Rico) and Our Lady of the Angels (Costa Rica).

John Paul II also announced that the Diocese of Le Puy-en-Velay in France will host the next international congress dedicated to the Mother of Christ. ZE00092405

JOHN PAUL II ENTRUSTS THIRD MILLENNIUM TO MARY
Ceremony Before the Statue of the Virgin of Fatima

VATICAN CITY, OCT. 8, 2000 (ZENIT.org).- In a moving ceremony, and with 1,500 bishops on hand, John Paul II entrusted humanity and the third millennium to the protection of the Virgin Mary.

The Pope pronounced the solemn words before the original image of the Virgin of Fatima, which was brought to St. Peter’s Square for the occasion. In the statue’s crown was the bullet that almost ended the Pope’s life on May 13, 1981.

St. Peter’s Square was a sea of people. The statue of Fatima was received with enthusiastic applause, brought in procession and followed by John Paul II. The Holy Father was visibly moved by the event.

During the homily at the concelebrated Mass, John Paul II described the scene of faith and prayer unfolding before him as a “great cenacle.” He first addressed the bishops who were celebrating their special Jubilee.

“Given the relativism and subjectivism that contaminate a large part of contemporary culture, bishops are called to defend and promote the doctrinal unity of their faithful,” the Holy Father said.

“Attentive to every situation where the faith is lost or ignored,” he added, “bishops work with all their strength in favor of evangelization, preparing priests, religious and laity with this objective in mind.”

The most awaited moment came at the end, which Vatican Radio described as the “zenith” of the Holy Year. At noon, the pontiff pronounced the act of entrustment of all humanity to the Virgin Mary at the dawn of the third millennium.

The Pope spoke on behalf of all the world’s pastors when he asked Mary for her maternal protection, confidently imploring her intercession given the challenges the future holds.

“Today we wish to entrust to you the future that awaits us, and we ask you to be with us on our way,” he said. "We are the men and women of an extraordinary time, exhilarating yet full of contradictions.

"Humanity now has instruments of unprecedented power: We can turn this world into a garden, or reduce it to a pile of rubble. We have devised the astounding capacity to intervene in the very wellsprings of life: Man can use this power for good, within the bounds of the moral law, or he can succumb to the shortsighted pride of a science that accepts no limits, but tramples on the respect due to every human being.

“Today, as never before in the past, humanity stands at a crossroads. And, once again, O Virgin Most Holy, salvation lies fully and uniquely in Jesus, your Son.”

The Holy Father entrusted all humanity to the Mother of God, beginning with the weakest: “the babies yet unborn, and those born into poverty and suffering, the young in search of meaning, the unemployed, and those suffering hunger and disease. We entrust to you all troubled families, the elderly with no one to help them, and all who are alone and without hope.”

“O Mother,” he said, “you know the sufferings and hopes of the Church and the world: Come to the aid of your children in the daily trials that life brings to each one, and grant that, thanks to the efforts of all, the darkness will not prevail over the light.”

At the end, when the Virgin of Fatima was taken to St. Peter’s Basilica, John Paul II greeted the thousands of waving pilgrims from his “popemobile.” However, the great majority did not leave the square.

Thousands waited as long as was necessary, in some cases for hours, to be able to see the statue of Our Lady of Fatima before it returns to Portugal on Monday. ZE00100808

As you can tell Pope John Paul II was special

Public Message
Our Lady of Emmitsburg
To the World
through Gianna Sullivan
April 2, 2006
The 1-Year Anniversary of the Death of Pope John Paul II

Little children, praised be Jesus!

Little ones, you are always safe when you focus on God. My most beloved Son suffered and was crucified so that you could be free and have Life. It was all for the glory of God, so that not one child should be lost. This was also the great hope and proclamation of my beloved son, known to you as your beloved Pope John Paul II “the Great”; and he desired all humanity to live life fully, in peace, focusing on your walk with Jesus. My beloved Pope invited all of the youth to grow and to love and to live life fully, so that not one child should be lost.

This was the way that God the Father created the world. However, the angels, especially one now known as “satan”, who was a great angel of light, through pride recruited other angels to try to overcome God’s Kingdom. So they were thrown out as the fallen angels. So too today, God once again through purgation will weed out and throw out the wicked people who desire to turn my children away from God. They will also become the fallen, like the fallen angels from Heaven.

So take courage, and know that this must happen because you are loved so much; and the wickedness and evil of the world must meet the Truth so that all the precious souls can be saved. Not one precious soul that desires God should ever be deceived or turned away from the Truth.

Focus, children, focus on your Savior! Join me as we walk now with Him through His Passion and Death, only to be renewed and to have Life fully.

Peace to you. I love you, and I join my Son and your Pope in this most omnipotent blessing on all the children in the world.

(Our Lady appeared during the Rosary being said simultaneously with the memorial Rosary and Apostolic blessing by Pope Benedict XVI at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome today.)

I don’t have all the answers and my opinion really doesn’t matter…But, I have tons of material and pictures and videos…even Pope John Paul II supported the Marian Apparitions.
