Robert John no one, certainly not me, is enciting hatred, what I am saying is that we as catholics have to not fall into the trap that debatig Protestants is intellectual “fun.” Protestanism is a heresy. It does have truth to it, (it came from Catholiscm after all) and we respect that truth. But Protestanism saves no one–it is only through the Catholic church that one is saved. This being said I do not think we should start our converstions with protestants with this type of statement. Perhaps at the end of a conversation it may be mentioned or one can make a prudential decsion to tell the Protestant in a later conversation. BUt i do believe it must be said. I have cited this example before–Patrick Madrid!!! at the end of his deabte with James white (does the Bible teach sola scriptura?) Patrick, at the time V.P. of Catholic Answers, stated that many of you run the risk of going to hell for not entering the Catholic church. I applaud Patrick’s courage and that of catholic Answers. This is precisely the correct attitude i believe we need. GO BACK AND LSITEN TO THE END OF THE DEBATE!!!

When u think about Protestanism and other Religions you have to say that the truths of there religions are correct in so far as they agree with Catholisicm…Protestants have no truth apart form the Catholic church…i find it remarkable that just because the new catechism uses “nice” language towards Protestanism that many Catholics, including those on this forum, want to turn a blind eye to Protestanism as a heresy… Protestanism has led many souls away from Christ and needs to be destroyed… Outside the Church there is no salvation absolutely applys to Protestants… I also would like to remind u that someone has the morla obligation to seek out the truth…simply because a particular Protestant does not ““see”” that the Catholic church is the true Church doesnt mean he is invincibly ignorant…he may be culpible because he may shut his heart down and not want to see the truth… pat madrid, when he debated james white on sola scriptura, told the audience that they run the risk of “goin to hell” because they are not Catholics… pat madrid is one of the finest apologists today and i think we should learn form this example and remind protestants that they may end up in hell for rejecting Christ’s truths…
protestants are the strongest people i have ever met as well as hungery for the bible, while i have only met one well practicing catholic in my life. every other catholic i’ve ever known doesn’t know very much about the bible. you have no right to condemn them.

Hi Marineboy
I’m not a Catholic and it realy doesnt bother me when you say I’m going to hell. Scripture says that we are to work out our own salvation. I have a strong prayer life, I spend alot of time in the Word of God and love him with all thats in me. I don’t think that Catholics are right on some issues but all my inlaws are Catholic,
they are good people and most love the Lord. There are some others who hold your view on this site and I pray for them as I will now pray for you.
In Him and Him Only, Dave.

Oudave as irritated as I get with you for falsely accusing us of all sorts of things,I must point out, that marineboy is a minority in his thinking and I apologise for his attitude:nope: Jesus will judge us not marineboy, and if you are invincibly ignorant about the Church Jesus is just and will not hold you accountable God Bless
PS.You don’t have to be ignorant but you choose to because you will not listen Dave!

People how many times do I have to say this—INCLUDING YOU LISA–LISTEN WILL YOU-- what I have repeatedly said was that God wants everyone to be Catholic—and He loves Protestants very much, but wants them to come home—THe Church teaches that if someone–a Protestant or other non Catholic–who knows the Catholic church is the one true Church and refuses to enter he cannot be saved if juged in that state–also if one is ignorant of the True Church but the ignorance is his fault then he would also go to hell if judged in that state.(provided the ignorance equates to grave matter) also even if they are invincibly ignorant they can still go to hell if they commit a mortal sin in another matter. if their ignorance is invincible and they seek to follow God to the best of their ability and have the virtue of faith they can be saved–but again only God knows the state of their souls—so as catholics we must stress to Protestants and others that they have an obligation to enter the Church and become Catholics or they could end up in hell—

I agree that he wants them to come home marineboy,I thought this thread was dead, but apparently it is not.Listen it is all in the delivery, which I have also shared with you and Oudave as irritating as he can be probably read the intro to your thread, that sounds mean and like you are reading the protestant heart and condemning them to hell. All in the presentation and understanding of what is being said would help.I told you that statements like that will make people stop listening and I know you would not want to be a road block to conversion.God Bless

Marineboy’s posts remind me of something G.K. Chesterton said:
Catholicism necessarily feels for Protestantism not the superiority a man feels over sticks and straws, but that he feels over clippings of his hair and nails. She feels Protestantism not merely as something insufficient, but something that would never have been even that but for herself.
As marineboy points out, Protestantism is a derivative of Catholicism, and whatever spiritual benefits has, it received from Catholicism.
Protestants can be saved, and we should always love them and pray for them, but we cannot place Protestantism and Catholicism at the same level,

well lisa i have also pointed out that one’s approach is a prudential decision that one sometimes has to make…Sometimes I think we need to be “harsh” and tough --other times we need to take more of a gentlier approach–it is a prudential decsion thAT I dont believe anyne can say is right or wrong. (unless one does something so outrageous—like show up at someones house witha bullhorn and shout ur gonan go to hell–just an example of what wouldbe clearly over the line)

Hello marineboy:) But you can not target your audience on this board, therefore it is impossible to know if your being prudent or not.God Bless

I don’t reall yunderstand your basis that Protestants are heretics. Most Protestant denominations follow the words of the Bible literally. Protestantism arose when the Catholic Church was in an extremely corrupt state. The people were denied access to the Bible, when in fact Jesus came to bring the Truth to all, not just the educated.

I will agree that the Protestants aren’t perfect, but neither are the Catholics, or the Orthodox. However, the words of Jesus revealed to us in the Bible are.

I don’t believe that all of the Catholics are going to hell. Salvation comes from having Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. It doesn’t matter what denomination you belong to.

Welcome, merechristian:) St.Francis was a true reformor,he reformed from within.Jesus does not cause division in His own Church, the apostles were not dismounted because of Judas.Oh and just so you know we as Catholics believe Jesus is not just our personal Savior but the only Savior;) God Bless

Proestanism is a hersey I dont wush to speak about individula Protestants–and just to correct you on one point–Catholicism is perfect–IT IS PERFECT IN ITS OFFICIAL TEACHING ON FAITH AND MORALS----its not in its members, but it is divine in its teaching—(practices and customs are alo not perfect and can be changed, but must be obeyed if so stated)

Hi
This is great, I have been told many times on this site by Catholics who were once Nondenoms that it was the Nondenoms who said they were the only ones going to Heaven. Then what do we get? a Catholic saying that only Catholics get to go to Heaven. I know that our beliefs are not perfect but for you to believe that the Catholic church is perfect in its teaching is arrogant and blind. Your last statement shows that would follow anything the church says even if you know it may not be right.
I’m sorry but you need to work on a couple of things, Compassion
and reality.
In Him and Him Only, Dave.

So you guys are talking about who is going to heaven, huh? Let me enlighten you…compassion and reality WILL NOT get you there.

So some nondenominatiol guy said you were going to heaven, huh? That is not true. No one knows who will get to heaven until they are there. This once saved - always saved is pure Protestant Bunko.

Dave we really do not know what you believe because most of the time you just talk about what you think we are doing and when we tell you no we are not doing that you say yes you are.It goes around in a perpetual circle of unfounded accusations and finger pointing and any denial or rebutle is dismissed by you. You said you would try to learn you are not trying to learn you PM me with a question and I answered you never wrote back,so I have to wonder if you are trying to learn opr just slander, make false allegations and condemn.:nope:

Hi Lisa
Do you mean unfounded accusations like exporter saying I believe OSAS? You are probably the most level headed person in here but let me ask you a question, does having a different opinion on something mean that you are giving someone a hard time?. Everything I have said in this forum comes from talking to other Catholics or things I have seen.
Dave.
