how about the muslim scandal? yeah i know for his followers, it aint the pope’s fault. but for me there are a gazillion ways of proving his point without giving a quote that demonizes muslims. if indeed he had no intention insulting anybody.

I like him. I like how he has been vibrant and willing to be the face of RC after having to following someone like JP2. He’s brilliant, and his calls for revival, and his courage to stand up to militant Islam makes other world leaders look lazy and frightened. I am glad he has finally made a visit to America.

I think he’s great and I hope he sticks to some old school values. People need to stop comparing him to JP2. They are 2 different people GOD chose for the ministry.
Watching CNN the other night they interviewed many folks at the Vatican. Ratzinger was planning to retire a year before John Paul II passed away. He never wanted the office. But the thing that inspired me was his response and I quote “GOD had other plans for me”.
Watching him fly down the steps of the tarmac at 81 years was impressive. He was outpacing Bush who almost had to run to keep up.

.My personal opinion of the man goes all the way back to when he was a priest, bishop and cardinal. The man has always been a good a faithful Catholic Priest, if you look at his record from the past you will find this to be completely true. As a Pope I think he is great compass for a Church that has lost its way and by iterating the Vatican 2’s teaching correctly maybe we can be the true guiding light again for all of christendom.

You know I admired him the first time I heard that issue. But then he practically succumbed to muslim pressure…giving excuses for his actions. thats what made it a blunder. he should have stood his ground.

its not wrong from the theological point of view. but from the public relations point of view, its not right.He himself has said he does not believe the Pope was wrong to bring back the old prayer.

You know this is typical of AgnosTheist, he continually recycles this type of stuff but never even researches anything. I have had many issues with him and have found that he is not only very anti-catholic but anti-christian as well, just look at his signature.AgnosTheist is recycling this double-standard since at least March. My first impressions are good. My understanding is he was very instrumental in the Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification when he was a Cardinal. Hope he continues to push Ecumenism. May God protect him.

There has been no Muslim scandal. His speech was the best I’ve ever read on the subject and I pray he changes nothing. I’m trying to figure out what possible blunder there was in what he said.
I wonder if there is any Protestant willing to give an assessment of the Universal Pastor?
