Protestant Pastor Leads Protest - Day of Silence

I think it would be interesting for someone, perhaps a priest, to start a thread showing what training and what kinds of training, not simply academic, that a priest must undergo to become a priest. I think it would be helpful for all of us.

I also would like to see some threads that show what kinds of training a faithful layperson ought to undertake in order to be a good and useful witness for our Lord to a lost and dying world.

I understand priest requires long training…but what makes you think that Pastor can be appointed within a few days ? You never attend protestant bible college before, neither you know what all Pastor have to go through before being confirmed as Pastor, therefore what makes you think it is so easy to become a Pastor to preach in church ?? Do not announce if you know nothing, otherwise you will cause yourself to stumble.

Since you’re a catholic, i’m so disappointed that way you spoke here, not humble and always compare and compare. Does God teaches you to do comparison based on your own understanding ? I don’t think so…
Do not cause yourself to stumble more being a catholic. Do not taint yourself being a catholic. Don’t act like a catholic, but behave as a catholic!!!😉

I know that the training in the best of protestant tradition is different than the training to become a priest. I also know that many protestant ministers have no training at all. I don’t think that St. Cyprian did either.

My objection is that the question of training and credentials diverts this post from its main subject which is itself a worthy one.

I wish someone would start another thread. Perhaps I will.

Point being here is that ANYONE can go off and start something. Even NFL players. Jesus did not want so many differing churches.
My uncle is a priest and that is how I know what the priesthood goes through. It is very holy. Pastors from Protestant churches DO NOT equal the training a priest must go through.

**Point here is anyone can evangelize anywhere, but a priest must go through an awful lot to serve God. **

That may be true but what does it have to do with this thread? Would you start a separate thread on this subject?

Yea, I know as a Protestant, you don’t know what I am talking about, yet I don’t expect you to have any good words for me…yet Protestants worry more what the Catholics are doing than to their own false doctrines.

It has everything to do with this thread, meaning ANYONE can go off and do ANYTHING outside the Catholic church.

Infact, you know what Fr. Corapi was before he’s become a priest. What would you react if someone says to you “Wow, is being a **drug addict and homeless **a pre-requisite for being a Catholic priest”?

It doesn’t matter who or what you were before God called you, what matters is that you answer the call and take it seriously. Whether catholic or protestant.
 
Ken Hutcherson is so AWESOME! We Catholics AND conservative non-Catholics absolutely adore him in Seattle. He is FEARLESS and will not back down from his pro-family, pro-life positions as a Christian minister. I have written to him AS A CATHOLIC and offered all my support as he his vilified in our local media and has suffered many threats against his life and the lives of his family members. In this city, it is an absolute RELIEF to hear the truth preached and quite handy that the preacher himself is a former NFL star! I would work with this man any day of the week.

As a Catholic in a city steeped in relativism, I am often saddened to see that the most outspoken defenders of morality are Protestant. We have quite a few nationally recognized non-Catholic ministers who refuse to back away from the tough issues. I wish I could say the same about our Catholic leaders in this diocese.😦

I wish you had more help out there as well. May I brag on my priest just a little? It may give you a glimmer of hope.

Father Thomas J. Loya is now an internationally known authority on the Theology of the Body and a marvelous teacher in all things Eastern Catholic.

Besides that he is a regular at various abortion clinics as he leads quiet protests against their existence. He also leads groups into the poorest neighborhoods of Chicago to bring help to the poorest of the poor.

This he does in addition to his wonderful work as our pastor. Catholics and their priests are involved. I just wish there were more of them who were involved.

Why are you missing the point here? No sense explaining it anymore…🤷 I support anything that is FROM MY OWN CHURCH and nothing more. Not to say he isn’t doing a good thing here. I simply AM NOT INTERESTED unless it is FROM THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.

What does this have to do with this pastor’s protest against the homosexual activists?

We Catholics should support what this Protestant pastor is doing. 👍
