Day of Silence is a peaceful protest that raises awareness about hate crimes against gay, lesbian, bi- and trans- sexual people. I see no reason to protest that. We are all God’s creation. If you truly want to fufill Jesus’s commandment and be his light unto the world, Love don’t judge!!!

Good luck finding scripture that gives Christains the task of judging the unrighteous

You seem to have missed what is being protested. They were doing the silence during the school day to interfere with education. Please read the article from the pastor who protested. He talked about having to meet before school or after school and not in the building if they wanted to meet and promote anything about Christianity.

“Hate crimes” is a powerful term to toss around. Aren’t all crimes, hate crimes? No one here said anything about judging unrighteousness. Those who have same sex attraction are to be afforded the same dignity and respect as anyone else. All crimes need to be prosecuted. A female rape victim is almost always raped by someone who “hates” women. Why is the crime against her any less heinous?

It is fast becoming a hate crime to merely speak about homosexual activity being wrong. Please be aware of that as you toss around that term. This pastor was protesting against school time being used to indoctrinate students that homosexual acts are fine. If you believe they are fine, please don’t use tax-payers’ money and students’ education time to force that belief on others.

No, other crimes are not more or less “heinous” However Hate Crimes refers to a crime commited against someone specifically because of their race, sexual orientation, or gender. I’m not “tossing around the term.” Maybe you should become more educated on what Day of Silence entails, because there is no “forcing of beliefs” on anyone, as the participants remain silent for the entire day.

Actually I am educated on it. If I were to have met someone on the street who was participating I would have nodded and respected their right to hold their particular beliefs. What I object to, as does this pastor, is teachers and students using school time to participate in this protest.

Again, how is a crime of rape against a woman (“gender” as you call it) any less heinous? Please also define the “crime” section of “hate crime.” Do you deny that speaking against homosexual acts (not people who have same sex attraction, but the activity) do you deny that is being classified as a hate crime in many areas?

The fact the day exists during school hours is forcing a perverse lifestyle upon people. If you want to live this way keep it out of the schools. It is not an alternative lifeslyle equal to decorum. It is perverse.

And is not also a hate crime when one forces their lifestyle on another group? In this case parents and children who do not agree and or practice such a lifestyle. Why is it okay for one group of people to demonstrate their lifestyle in a public school but not okay for another group to demonstrate theirs. (ie practicing Christians) I would think that is also a hate crime. And it really bothers me when I am paying for this type of “hate crime” to be forced upon our children and demonstrated during the time when they are suppose to be learning, math, English and reading, which is lacking in our children due to that fact that certain groups think it is more important to teach our children the many ways they can have sex.

Being an NFL player has nothing to do with being a follower of Christ. I am Catholic and I tell you that person who made that comment maybe catholic but certainly is not Christ like.

I am glad some Christian leaders are leading the way and practicing the teachings of Christ. Perhaps the Catholic American Bishops will do something one of these days and protest the gay movement.

Your missing the point here, it was about what the priests have to go through before they are priests vs. what a ‘pastor’ goes through. Anyone can talk at a pulpit, but not at a Catholic church.

I think people have got your point pretty well. But,
  • Why would your first reply was not related to the topic of this thread? You broke the forum’s rule
DISCUSSION FORUMS
  1. Messages posted to threads should be on-topic. If you wish to discuss another topic, start a new thread.
  • Show us the proof that NFL profession is a pre-requisite of being a pastor as you claimed in your first reply? (you might want to start a new thread on this if you wish 🙂 )

Ya no water, I really don’t feel like debating with A FELLOW CATHOLIC. So stop picking on me and if I broke any rules here about going off topic (how ridiculous for you to even suggest this), then EVERYBODY’S GUILTY. Give it a rest.

Do you or don’t you agree with the protest this pastor led against the day of silence? Do you support Christians who protest “gay rights” movements in public schools? That is the topic of this thread, not football careers or educational qualifications of pastors.

I have no comment. I really don’t care about it.

Than way are you here! You are just showing your rudeness. Please re-read the OP and either make a comment about what the topic is or don’t. We don’t want to hear about your dislike for Protestants. That is not what this thread is about. You can start a thread about that if you like.

Did I say that I DISLIKED Protestants? Where is the word DISLIKE?

In your undertone about what you THINK you know about them.

Please try to act like a Christian and more importantly a Catholic.

Like Fr Corapi once said the reason the world isn’t Catholic is because of me.

If you are wondering why Protestants are flocking by the millions, thousand or even by the hundreds you should look in the mirror.

Excuse me? If you did some research, ST. LUCY, instead of spending your time judging others, you would see the multitudes of Protestants coming into the Catholic church.
Stop judging me, and live your ‘Christian’ faith.

you are quite right, and I can see now that nothing nor no one can hold that mirror to your face.

I wish you luck on your path and I will pray for you.

Good bye.
