The hope is that with prayer you will make the next step to get to Church and ask to see the priest to get some instructions on the faith. One day at a time.

You might find reading some of the basic Catechisms of the Church to be of help to you:

Bless you! The Holy spirit is calling you. Listen and act. There are many paths your conversion can take. Be open. If you have doubts ask. Seek truth! The Lord speaks to us in many ways. Through our own thoughts, through prayer, reading scripture in our dreams and talking with other believers.

After I read your post this morning, I went to mass and prayed for you. My prayer is that you find a friend who will guide you.

I’m so happy the Holy Spirit is moving you to join us in the one true Church. Thank you Jesus!

The others have given you some great suggestions, so if you do those, keep praying and see a priest as soon as you can, you will be on a good path.

You can post back here if you have questions in the meantime, and we will pray for you also.

If you can, attend a Catholic mass. Sit in the back and listen. You might be amazed to hear, not only several readings from Scripture, but if you listen carefully to the prayer of the priest and the congregations response, you will hear a lot of Scripture.
This is excellent advice. It was the final deciding factor for me two years ago. Blessings on your journey.

Lots of praying. Lots of reading. Ordered a Bible and a rosary today and had an amazing talk regarding RCIA at a parish for when we move in a few weeks. Talked to my husband about what has been going on. He hasn’t been around a lot lately with work and some fishing tournaments. He was indifferent. His comment was “oh do what you want all week and then just go to confession” I said there might be some who do that but I’m sure many more who don’t. If you truly love the Lord, you don’t want to sin all week.

I will be meeting with someone come next month after our move, to talk before RCIA. RCIA is on break for July and will start back up in August. I’ve never felt the Holy Spirit move like this in all these years of struggle to stay close to God.

Maybe write out your thoughts and feelings. Then when talking with your mom you won’t get distracted and forget to say things that are really important.

You are most welcome. I would send you a spare copy, but I see that a new edition is out. Better to have the latest corrections/revisions for the sake of clarity.

I will lol into it more and see if sometime soon I want to order it. Ordered a Bible today. Catechism is next. Have bought some kindle books. Lol

@Dianna the Catholic Company is a great source for books and all things Catholic. There prices are same as Amazon or less. Great selection and customer service.

When you settle down, usually catholic churches will have an RICA group or just bible studdies you can join, even if you don’t want to become catholic just yet but would like to learn some more, I’d look into your closest church to where your going to be moving to and even if your first pick of catholic church doesn’t have anything like that keep looking for other ones you’ll find a great support system and people just like you looking to find people to discuss theology with

I’m a Protestant who when seeking a closer relationship with God came upon Catholic prayers. I’ve been very unhappy with my relationship with the Lord for sometime, unhappy in Protestant churches. As I started reading the prayers something happened. An overwhelming peace. I’ve kept praying. Reading/watching all I can. I had many ideas of what I thought Catholicism was and wasn’t. Boy was I wrong. So much of what I thought, or had heard about Catholic beliefs was so twisted and wrong. Too bad every Protestant won’t look at what the beliefs of the Church really are.
Just curious, What exactly triggered your interest in Catholicism in the first place, and what was the first resource you came across and used?

Dianna:
Today I prayed the Rosary twice, no beads, but used and app for all the prayers. I can’t recall the last time I sat and prayed for 20 minutes straight without my mind wandering, or feeling like I wish I was done. When I finished one Roasry I was disappointed it was over. Was very happy to have another 20 minutes later to pray again. My prayers had meaning. I have an app to get all the daily readings/ reflections. Prayer apps. I got the Catechism kindle edition. I’m moving so will be a few weeks till I could even think of talking with a Priest. Do I just keep praying and doing daily readings? I don’t know any Catholics. Shoot, I was the only Protestant in my family and friends. Most everyone I know are non-believers. I’m not on social media and so don’t know how to reach out. So feeling a bit overwhelmed and alone but feeling so good at the same time. I’m married (non-believer), mom, in my 40’s and finding it crazy that in a very short time so much has been turned upside down. But I’m so thankful!
Yet you found Catholic Answers 🙂

This shows God finds and works with people where they are. And you listened and acted on it. What a great story.

I hope you have a parish that isn’t too far away from where you live and you can talk with the pastor.

The church I’m looking at has RCIA, small groups for study and for prayer outside of the church, then prayer groups at the church and a lot of that I was told I can partake in. I’m very excited. Just have to get this move done 🙂
