The Apostle John spoke of sin after the resurrection, but he taught this objective truth:1 John 2:1-2 "My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for {those of} the whole world. The sacrificial death of Christ satisfied the offended holiness of God because of sins (propitiation), before and after the cross. Christ our High Priest in heaven is our (believer’s) Advocate with the Father, testifying to the fact that the believer who has sinned has been redeemed (purchased) and cleansed of all sins through His blood. And this was the Apostolic message to the world. But it’s a message concerning Christ and the cross that must be believed. They weren’t sent out to start a new “religion,” but to proclaim Christ and Him crucified and salvation through faith in Him alone. You must also keep in mind he says this word after the resurrection. Why use the word sin after the redemptive work of the cross is complete?
