Im Catholic and a new believer at that!! But I do believe my parents chose right for me when I was born. I must say I have never been on a Catholic forum before and all the words are freaking me out it sounds so complicated. I attend a Protestant church because I like the music and fellowship, the teachings are pretty much the same except that they dont have communion very often but they teach from the Bible like a Catholic mass would. I also attend a Catholic church because I love lighting a candle and kneeling before Mary (Not worshipping) But how should I put it, ummm, feeling that I am surrounded by Gods presence through the remembrance of Mary and Jesus. I dont really understand why Protestants have such a problem with Catholics though, we do all love Jesus.🙂

Oh and can someone teach me about where in the Bible it talks about Purgatory. I recently bought a Bible with Apocrypha but dont know where to look …heheeh…I have been hearing so many people say Purgatory doesnt exist I jsut want to learn the evidence for it… Please Personal message me thanks
God Bless 😊

I do not deny that Mary was a virgin at Jesus’ conception and birth.

I question the need for Mary to be perpetually a virgin and

I wonder *“Where and when did GOD or Jesus say that for my salvation I must believe in the perpetual virginity of Mary?” *

Where and when did GOD or Jesus say that for my salvation I must believe in the perpetual virginity of Mary?
Nowhere. The Bible only mentions Jesus as the way of salvation…(John 1:29, 14:6)

Where and when did GOD or Jesus say that for my salvation I must believe in the perpetual virginity of Mary?
Yeah, what he said.

Plus, if Joseph new her not UNTIL Jesus was born, it seems pretty clear Joseph new her after the birth of our King. Adam new Eve and bore Cain. In the greek that means sexual relations. It’s so simple unless you twist the text or ignore it.

Plus, what was the year that the roman catholic church made that a dogma?

Yeah, what he said.

If I told you I was childless until my death, would that mean I had children after that?

Dogmas are developed in reaction to heresies or to clarify misunderstandings.
Although the Roman Catholic dogmas of the Immaculate Conception and Assumption of Mary are relatively new (1854 and 1950, respectively), the pious attitudes that generated these promulgations are ancient. Scholars of early Christianity are in agreement that interest in the mother of Jesus was mostly initiated by the need to clarify the church’s teachings about the nature of Christ, his relationship with God, and the salvation Christ accomplished. Through Mary the fullness of Christ’s genuine humanity was guaranteed, in opposition to those who argued that Jesus only appeared to be human.
As christology continued to develop, new insights were drawn from St. Paul’s understanding of Christ as the New Adam who completes and perfects creation (1 Cor. 15). A natural correlation was seen between Jesus and Mary, with the latter being understood as the New Eve by second-century theologians like St. Justin Martyr and St. Irenaeus of Lyons.

Do you think it is necessary to believe in the Bible in order to be saved?
You have to believe it is GOD’s Word. It is through the Holy Bible that GOD teaches us Truths that we need to know.

Not sure what the point would be if you didn’t believe it was GOD’s inspired Word.- I quess you would be a muslim, atheist, etc.?

No you are reading more into what I said, or simply not understanding:

Do you go to a history book to find out how to have a relationship with GOD? No you go to HIS manuel.

Mary’s perpetual virginity is a Truth of the Bible. She is the new Eve, the Queen Mother, the new Ark of the Covenant.

I have a simple solution for everyone, take the sayings of Jesus in context out of the New Testament up to His ascention and put that in one book then toss out the rest save as secondary and minor relevance to Christianity.

As for this issue of whether Mary was a perpetual virgin the passage earlier clearly said “until” the birth of Jesus so after that Joseph did have relations with her its clear to me. Yes he did.

If I told you I was childless until my death, would that mean I had children after that?

Where in Scripture can you find that Mary was childless after Christ? In fact, the RC church ignores the fact that Jesus had brothers and sisters.

No please explain what it means when the text says Joseph KNEW HER NOT UNTIL Jesus was born.

Jesus is the founder of the church. The church was not founded on Pentecost. The Bible says in Acts 2 that they added to the church those that were saved. You cannot add to something that is not there. I do not know how long the church was there, but it was there before Matthew 18, where it speaks of taking something to the church.

And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. Matthew 10:1

Whenever the church was started, it was started with a called-out assembly. The first place in the Bible where I find such a statement is in Matthew 10:1. I feel the church was started here or before here. I know it was started some time in the personal ministry of Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the foundation of the church.

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Matthew 16:18

The rock he was speaking about was not the Peter. The church was not built on the Peter. The church was built on the foundation of Jesus. Jesus was the rock being referred to, not Peter. The word Peter means little pebble. The word rock means a strong. big rock. They are not the same word. Peter was a little pebble, but the rock is Jesus.

Jesus is its builder.
He said, upon this rock I will build my church. Our job is not church growth. Our job is soul winning. Jesus said that He would build the church. Jesus is in the church-building business. He never told us to build a church. He told us to go soul winning, and He would do the building of His church. We are witnesses. He never told us to go into all the world and build churches. Our job is to obey the Great Commission and His job is to build the church.

Jesus attended it, and sang and preached in it.
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will! sing praise unto thee. Hebrews 2:9-12

We see here that Jesus went to church. He was quoting from an Old Testament prophesy by saying that He would declare God’s name in the church. Luke 4 says that it was Jesus custom to go to the synagogue on the Sabbath Day. He was in a habit of going. When He went to the cross all the things attached to the synagogue were nailed to the cross with Him. In the place of the synagogue He gave us the local church.

Jesus preached in the church. I am not talking necessarily about a church building. They may have met under a tree, in a barn, or in a house, as they often did in the Bible. But, the fact remains that Jesus went to church and preached in the church. Jesus also said that He was going to sing God’s praises in the church.

Did Jesus need to go to church? Absolutely. The Bible says He emptied himself of deity and became a man. He did what He did, not as God, but as man. Otherwise, He could not have been our pattern. Jesus needed to go to church because He was a man. It was not to keep Him from sinning, but for encouragement and fellowship, the same reasons we need to go to church.

Jesus is to be preeminent in the church.
And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the first born from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. Colossians 1:18

Jesus must have the preeminence in every organization of the church. He is to have the preeminence in the preaching. He is to have the preeminence in the singing. I believe that songs about Jesus should be sung in the church, rather than the high-brow anthems that are used in so many circles today. Jesus is to have the preeminence in the Christian school. Jesus is to have the preeminence in the Women’s Missionary Society. Jesus is to have the preeminence in the bus ministry. Jesus is to preeminent in all of the ministries of the church.

Jesus is the head of the church.

And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all. Ephesians 1:22, 23

And he is the head of the body, the church … Colossians 1:18a

Jesus is the head of the body. The church is the body of Christ. The word head is similar to the President of a business. It means that it is his body in the sense of ownership or control, not in the sense of being a physical body. The word head means authority. He is the authority of the church. He is the head of the church like the owner of a store is the head of that store. The church is a body of people that belongs to him.

Please give Bible references that Mary is ever virgin.

I understand the concept of the new Eve and Ark of the New Covenant.

I’m not sure what Queen Mother entails.

Again is all this somthing that must be believed to be saved?

Queen of Heaven in Revelations, Bathsheba to Solomon.

I wouldn’t say believing in the Perpetual Virginity is salvific in and of itself. It is part of the Truth of Salvation History, which must be understood and believed in order to be saved.
