It makes us look bad. And most of us are pretty nice folks.
Kind folks.
just plain old-fashioned church going folks.
God fearing folks.

Who love our brethern as ourselves.

Sellers1:
Clinical depression is a whole different disorder than be bi-polar. I know people who have depression and it doesn’t affect your thinking in the way that some mental illnesses do.

Reading about it does not give anyone understanding of what these poor people go through or their families.

It appears you have little sympathy for others.

As I stated before there are disagreements here about theology, but most of the Catholics on this board care for and accept their protestant brothers and sisters much more than the other way around.

I can see that you probably are depressed as depression causes negativity in all areas of life and from your statements, that is the way you come across. Many Catholics here have stated that they don’t agree with the OP and yet you continue to make uncharitable comments.

It is probably best if you would just go on protestant boards as they will all agree with your beliefs and won’t cause you the anxiety of reading opinions that don’t agree with yours. As my daughter said to me it is not worth being on forums that get you all upset.

These boards are to discuss everyones faith and even Catholics disagree with one another and get into some real debates over what I see as really not important issues, at least to me, but are important to them.

As someone said to me if you can’t take the heat get out of the kitchen.

I will pray that the Lord gives you peace and helps you in your depression, as I know very well how bad depression can be.

Yours in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary

Bernadette

As Catholics we have the fullness of Truth… it seems to me that we can afford to be charitable to those that don’t. 🙂
I believe in respecting other people’s faiths, whatever they may be. And God willing, some day they may come to see the truth as well. There are wars being waged over the difference between Catholicism and Protestantism, and that is a pity. A little understanding and kindness goes a long way. I don’t remember Jesus beating men over the head trying to convert them. He just explained, over and over, taught and showed them by his actions.
If you anger someone by insulting what they hold very dear, no matter how right you think you are, you effectively close their ears to anything sensible that you might have to say, and that is a shame.
Just my two cents, take it for what it’s worth. 🙂

The Conscience of the Church Fathers = The Conscience of the Holy Spirit?

WAT?
Do you not think that the 2,000 years historic Holy Tradition is like inspired scripture, Bible? To me St Augustine’s conscience, St Athanasios’ conscience, St Cyril’s conscience, and St Leo’s conscience, right up to Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI conscience do not contradict each other, and so, I believe their conscience is guided by the Holy Spirit.
