Asked and answered…and your stalking me across threads like this in such a short span of time is really starting to creep me out
No, you have not “answered”… you are dodging, and side slipping.

Why don’t you just answer the question… WHO SPECIFICALLY AND FACTUALLY PERSECUTING YOU???

I see that you don’t like what you yourself does…I wonder why that is?

RobHom=stalker
How’s that for hyperbole? 😃
corny is about all…

So when are you going to quit playing “dodgeball” with yourself and answer the simple question put to you… Or is the statement in your “signature” a lie?.. Oh, wait… you dropped that part of your signature just a minute or so ago… WHY IS THAT??? Two questions for you to answer now…

Waiting…still…take your time…😃

Your fallacy is that you reject criticism by claiming that the true RCC isn’t what the critic believes it is and that the critic doesn’t understand the true RCC. That people who really understand the RCC would not make such criticisms. It makes the RCC a moving target impossible to criticize. It’s a logical fallacy.
I was not making a blanket statement.
You should read the exchange leading up to my comments.
thecoach threw out a few items that were not true about Catholics or the Church.
This is why I commented the way I did.
No fallacy.
again … read the exchange to see where I was coming from.

But some of us believe the statements are true. You move the target by claiming they aren’t true without providing evidence.

I think the criticisms are accurate. I really think I understand the Catholic teachings having studied Catholicism in depth for years. My conclusion is that Catholicism is not what I believe about Christianity. If you say that I just don’t understand Catholicism you are making a logical error because I do understand Catholicism and I think it is not correct. You reject that as a possibility and it clearly is possible to reject Catholicism with full possession of the facts.

The fallacy is that no one could reject Catholic teaching if they understood it. That is not correct.

Wow, deja vu. I think I’ve experienced this thread before. Several times in fact.

Anyone else been feeling that way?

A) it usually the other way around in terms of harsh words being initiated.

B) wrong is wrong and BOTH sides should be equally sanctioned.
Perhaps…but one would think a violation is a violation no matter who commits it…or is that too much to ask?
In principle … absolutely. But how many forums are there that actually follow that principle? Seriously, if you can tell me a Protestant forum where that is the case, I want to be a part of that forum.

I bet it would be much worse if a Catholic went to certain Protestant forums and started questioning their beliefs.

lol. That doesn’t make sense, if someone goes to a protestant forum, yes, but it depends on the mod team at that forum, and the people their, you do not know whether we would be harsher to catholics then catholics are to us.

Well… I’m sorry it doesn’t make sense to you??? I thought it was a rather simple statement.

OK… I’ll have to admit it’s just the ones I’ve seen

Some won’t even allow Catholics in and if they do they stone them upon entrance or when they start to challenge the other posters the mods will shut down the thread…
these things just don’t happen here… well they may get stoned but not just for being Protestant:D

Hope this helps you understand where I was coming from

yes, plus the fact that you name this board “Non-Catholic religions” it falsely portrays that such beliefs would be welcome to share here, and thus expect to be treated equally.

Hello Coach, if you think this forum is confrontational, you need to try some others. WHEW!!

And those are sometimes Catholics “dialogueing” with Catholics. I think the problem is the way we write about our beliefs, Caths. and Prots. too. The written word gives little leeway to nuances and many misunderstandings arise.

So many, Caths. and Prots. get defensive if anything is said in any way “against” one of their beliefs. And this is usually not intended, just the way the question, or statement is worded. We would all do well to try to remember to try to “teach” or “inform” rather than “pontificate”.

I carefully said “similar things”. I really want to be correct here. Muslims say that their religion is from Allah, who is the God of Abraham just like the Christian God. They claim that what they believe is true and lots of very smart well educated Muslims believe that 100%, just like Catholics believe what they believe. No difference there.
I DON’T GIVE A HOOT ABOUT MUSLIMS NAMESAKE. Don’t you get it by now? I don’t care about Islam, I hope it falls off the face of the earth…I only care about things of Christ, all Muslims will one day encounter Christ.
And what’s anything to do with smart, educated people? I’ve encountered many who are quite dumb with no common sense, yet they have Ph.d’s. Big deal!

I think you missed Namesake’s point.

I started a thread a week or 2 ago called, “My faith is better than yours”. The point being everybody (each faith) seems to go around saying how and what they believe is better than what somebody else may believe. IMO, this attitude is pointless and silly. I was primarily focusing on Catholic and non-Catholic Christians and that both groups follow Christ, it’s just the methodology of worship differs.

I read somewhere a while back that “religion is simply an opinion and/or methodology on how to worship God”. If you take your “My faith is the best” blinders off for a moment it does seem to make sense to a certain degree. All those who worship God may have different ways of doing it. Which one is right or wrong? Maybe all have a little right or a little wrong. The point is all would like to think the way they worship is the right way, but none of us will really know till we meet up with God someday. I’m a Catholic and this is the way I worship God, but OTH I try to have respect (I fail at that sometimes, I admit) for another’s faith as long as it doesn’t interfere with the way I worship.

A good quote from Pope John XXIII: “See everything, overlook a lot, correct a little”. Not everything needs correcting. By constantly pointing the supposed errors of everybody else, it just causes more harm and discourse than good. We would all do well to live by that quote.

You have yet to show that example of you being treated unfairly… it might help us feel compassionate towards your complaints if you would do this.

To be quite honest I would expect any Christian and especially a Rev. to be a bit more charitable… by some of the comments you’ve made I’m suprised you haven’t been treatd even more harshly.

Even though it says Non-Catholic religions that doesn’t mean Catholics can’t enter… as in it’s not a safe haven for Catholic bashing.

Of course he missed the point and I got too bored to try again.
What point did I miss here? Your simply stating that Muslims are “similar” with us Catholics…I’m telling you that is not true. They claim we have the same God, obviously we don’t. I do not believe this.
Like I said before, if Islam fell off the face of the earth, I could care less…

Muslims worship the God of Abraham and so do Catholics regardless of what you believe.

But the point was that there are similarities between Catholics and Muslims in the way they describe their religions. They both claim exclusive possession of the truth. Very few religions are as adamant or vocal about that as Catholics and Muslims.

Tell me…since I respond many times in kind, why am I the “uncharitable” one, yet the Catholic is not? Does the thought control really run that deep? What I think Catholics here find “uncharitable” is someone who speaks the truth and will not back down from it. Uncharitable would be for me to leave people in blindness without saying anything.
