Protestants: Have you changed your mind on anything "Catholic" because of something said on these forums?

OH NO… can you imagine how thecoach must feel about this (I hope he calms down quickly)… does anybody get the feeling that he might have only been a self-proclaimed Reverend? I can’t imagine a man who dedicates his life to serving God’s people would behave like that… It’s probably because I’m just a simple small town man.

I feel badly about this but I don’t think there was any good coming out of his discussions… It’s partly my fault too:o but I’m with Ruthie… back to the regularly scheduled program.

I don’t even know what you’re referring to.

I’m not going to tell anyone not to criticize thecoach – I’ve done it myself – but let’s remember that there are ways to criticize someone that are appropriate and ways that aren’t.

I DON’T GIVE A HOOT ABOUT MUSLIMS NAMESAKE. Don’t you get it by now? I don’t care about Islam, I hope it falls off the face of the earth…I only care about things of Christ, all Muslims will one day encounter Christ.
And what’s anything to do with smart, educated people? I’ve encountered many who are quite dumb with no common sense, yet they have Ph.d’s. Big deal!
Dear 1stChristian. I am so glad Christ didn’t have your attitude when He began His teaching. How are we supposed to understand, or at least try to dialogue, with others when such defensive attitudes are used to try to bring the other DOWN? If we all had the same outlook on others not of our faith, we certainly wouldn’t be bringing much peace to the world, would we?

Could that be turned back on you? I mean, how would you know, you aren’t protestant.

I think hyperbole can be kind of fun but your statement is beyond hyperbole.
And so we dialogue in circles, accuse one another and act as un Christ like as we can. I realize 1stChristian started the hyperbole, but hopefully, we can all learn from one another, IF WE ONLY CALM DOWN AND LISTEN!! to one another. Geez!!!

I think you mean my last statement? If so, I was saying that I felt bad that thecoach got banned (especially if it had anything to do with me)… I meant this.

If it was the first part… I think it was easy enough to understand… If he really was a Rev. I would never have guessed it by the way he posted… attacks on the CC are one thing but the personal comments seemed to lack the charity I would think a Rev. would have… yeah I’ve seen alot worse here but I dont think from a Rev… I guess I wouldn’t consider this too harsh of criticism considering the conversations that were going on.

I hope this helps you understand my thoughts:)

Tell me…since I respond many times in kind, why am I the “uncharitable” one, yet the Catholic is not? Does the thought control really run that deep? What I think Catholics here find “uncharitable” is someone who speaks the truth and will not back down from it.
and when Catholics do that, it is somehow wrong… Hmmm… Ok…
Uncharitable would be for me to leave people in blindness without saying anything.
Please be uncharitable… 😃

Maybe it is you who are blind… Maybe one should clean up his own back yard before looking into the well - manicured back lawns of others… 😃

There are many Catholics who know Scripture better than any Protestants. And how would you know, you are not Catholic.
i am not Catholic?? Oh, that is funny… You obviously haven’t read any of my posts… or didn’t know they were mine…

I was being sarcastic… OK?? 🙂

I would’ve seen the pastor after the service and said “You want a piece of me?”.

Actually, I would’ve talked to him after the service and asked him what the problem was? You’d think to maybe have the opportunity to take a Catholic from away from the CC and convince him of his heretic ways would’ve pleased the pastor. 😃
frankly, i dislike talking to people who… well… write me off before they know anything about me, ditto the Church…

He probably talked about me after i left… used it as an opportunity to speak on Catholicism… the evils thereof… He may have said something like… “That woman left becsaue she felt convicted…”

Not hardly… but at least he probably was talking about the Church… That isn’t why i left, but i thoght of it after leaving…

You wouldnt expect it from a rev? Thats funny coming form a person whose clerics have some track record.
Did you know that there is more child molestation in the protestant community… That it is actually twice as high as in the Catholic Church… ? Of course you didn’t know that… becaue you get your info from the Catholic - hating liberal media… they aren’t going to tell you that kind of thing… Or will they? I learned my info from them also… it just wasn’t on the front page of the newspaper… It never is… But when Catholics do something wrong, you can better believe it will broadcast into the outer reaches of the universe… ASAP.

Only 2% (somewhat less, actually) of priests are guilty of child molestation… What about the 98% + who are not?? And again, protestants are worse…(4%) & the in the general population, child molestation is 1 out of 4 for girls and 1 out of 6 for boys… 25-40%

You know, Christ would of liked how I stand up for him and his one true church. I told you and the others. I could care less about Islam really. I don’t care who Mohammed is or any of the false teachings of the Koran. I hope it falls off the face of the earth. I don’t care about Muslims on CAF who try and put fear into others and intimidate them. I am not one of them. I fear Christ and I defend Christ. I defend the Catholic church.
There is no dialogue with Islam, only fear they try and put into others.
If you keep sugar coating Islam the way you do, you are in for a big surprise. I have respect for all Christians, not just Catholics. But I have no respect for Islam. I will be nice to people of Muslim faith if I had to, but their “religion” that is NOT of Christ gets no attention from me.

You will continue to see what you wish. As far as this latest quote you provide, the Greek also means …what you bind on earth HAS been bound in Heaven…the implication that earht follows the designs of Heaven, as in the Our Father. You seem to think that Peter’s mere historical existence is enough to prove the Papacy…it does not. AS I said, this is going nowhere, si lets leave it here.
But this is going somewhere. I have so many arguments with my brother about who is right and who is wrong (he is baptist) and we both throw verse after verse at each other with our own interpretations of what they mean. So if I believe I am filled with the holy spirit and so does my brother and so do all other christians (I use the term loosely) then who is right? Well if we can’t find the answer in the bible because we all have our own interpretations of what means what, then the most logical answer is to look at what the early followers of Christ believed. And as the only writings anywhere near the time of Christ are Catholic in belief how can you believe any different?

I’ve skipped through the bickering posts to answer the original question.

These forums have played a huge role in my impending conversion to Catholicism. :signofcross:

(Ignore the signature - it’s probably going to happen before Easter)

lol. That doesn’t make sense, if someone goes to a protestant forum, yes, but it depends on the mod team at that forum, and the people their, you do not know whether we would be harsher to catholics then catholics are to us.
Actually, I have encountered “non-Catholics”… specifically “Protestants” who make a great point of going beyond “harsher” toward Catholics than you can imagine. Like this one for instance:

thebereans.net/forum2/forumdisplay.php?f=331

Its based out of the Philippines … so some of the posts are in “Tagalog” which is the native language there, though much is done in English.

They don’t like or respect Catholics. Not nice at all.

There may be some non-Catholic forums that are not like the one above… but for the most part… I have found that we Catholics are far easier going on our separated Brothers and Sisters than they are on us… Just my personal experiences… 😃

Then why are you HERE?

If you have not learned anything or I should say you don’t want to learn anything, then move on don’t waste your time here, at this Catholic forum if you don’t want to learn and become Catholic. Or is it that you have no one to talk too and we Catholics are your only friends that you can chat with?

Don’t you have any Baptist friends that you can hang-out with that you can get together with and persecute the Catholic Church.

There is a saying “If you can’t beat them, join them.” and that is the Catholic Church.

There is also another Saying: “The gates of hell can not prevail against it.” And that to is the Catholic Church.

That the Wine and Bread thing is backed up by scripture, and I saw the scripture and read it, so I know its true.

The rock thing, except I still do not get it, but I can see much better how they could be the papacy started, but I need to research much further before I decide on it, so don’t hold me on it :o .
ChristianKnight,

The Holy Spirit works one step at a time. Now You know that the wine is the Blood of Christ, and the Bread “thing” is the Body of Christ, how do you feel?

What is your next step?

Believing that the wine and blood is 100% the Body and Blood of Christ is much harder to except than it is to except the “Rock Thing” For Many Jews left Jesus Christ for his saying that you Must eat and Drink his Body and Blood.

Jesus Christ has established order in his Church so he left it in the hands of Peter the “Rock” thing on which I shall build my church says Jesus, and the gates of hell can not prevail against it.

Throughout the centuries, God The Father always had a Human beign to guide his people, there was Moses, Abraham, David, Peter the Rock and down to the present Pope.

God Bless you on your journey home.

i notice thecoach doesn’t have a response for the info about Protestant communities having aa higher rate of child molestation than Catholics… twice as high…

you can’t argue with facts… or truth…

Well, i guess you can… but its kind of like… like this… :banghead: :ouch:
