Oh you would laugh your butt of at some of themHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa![]()
What answer did you get that pre dates the Catholic church??
I am sure that he would loved to respond to you but he is banned…i notice thecoach doesn’t have a response for the info about Protestant communities having aa higher rate of child molestation than Catholics… twice as high…
you can’t argue with facts… or truth…
Well, i guess you can… but its kind of like… like this… :banghead:uch:
I was in the Catacombs in Rome. Very emotional. I only went in the two that weren’t real deep cuz of my claustrophobia. There are writings on the walls that also prove the early Christians were Catholic in belief. You have to be there.Oh you would laugh your butt of at some of them
- John the baptist was (Baptist) hence the name
- "Real Christians were persecuted by Catholics so my church couldn’t be built until after the reformation
- Anabaptists predate Catholicism and were forced to worship underground (funny I thought Catholics were forced underground by Roman soldiers) but anyway his theories couldn’t hold water and when I show him proof of early writings he says "yeah, well, that’s just biased Catholic writing and I said “that’s the point!”
Yeah, I would actually love to be married in Rome someday.I was in the Catacombs in Rome. Very emotional. I only went in the two that weren’t real deep cuz of my claustrophobia. There are writings on the walls that also prove the early Christians were Catholic in belief. You have to be there.
Maybe so, but I notice that so far no one has taken up my challenge to show me a Protestant forum that behaves better toward Catholics than this one does toward Protestants.
do you know why?? specifically/I am sure that he would loved to respond to you but he is banned…
on;y problem is, Protestants have more freedom to worship their way than Catholics do…’I am reminded of why my ancestors chose to come to this wonderful, absolutely blessed land…to have religious freedom, the freedom to worship God as they see fit, and to be able to live their lives free of persecution and hatred.
!
I have no clue why he was banned, distracted. I only know that he was banned because it says so under his name.do you know why?? specifically/
He possibly came back as Pastor JimI have no clue why he was banned, distracted. I only know that he was banned because it says so under his name.
Peace!
I agree 100%.i’ve changed my mind about Christians in general…
I’ve seen how terribly rude and hostile they can be toward one another…:hypno:
Plus, just felt like a fish out of water… Also… can’t put my finger on this one thing, but it seemed that people instinctively knew that i wasn’t “one of them”… or am i just overly sensitive? but they didn’t seem so… QUOTE]sorry all for dragging this up late…no you weren’t feeling like a fish out of the water and most likely they didn’t know you weren’t "one of them"you nailed why you felt the way you did when you said you were missing the real presence…when i first woke up i headed off to the local non-denom “church”, after bailing on the true church, and i felt out of place too, what was missing i asked myself again and again,i found out the it was the “truth” was missing and who is the truth? Jesus Christ is…iow He wasn’t fully present there as He is in the catholic church under the accidents of the bread and wine.
So you can’t respect someone without agreeing to all of their opinions?i don’t say they are lies… i am just saying that many Protestants think they are false beliefs… so why would a Protestant have a lot of respect for Catholics, yet reject Catholic doctrines… Kinda doesn’t make sense to me…
I think what’s needed is balance.Personally, I’ve met RCs inhere who seem great, intelligent people, with whom one can have an actual debate…and I’ve met people who seem to be dumber than posts.
Neither has anything to do with what denomination they belong to - it has to do with their character.
Now, for the question:
Has anything said on these forums changed my mind on anything RC?
Well, I came to the forums in an ecumenical spirit - and am now even more strenghtened in my belief that the RCC has got several key issues wrong - based on the kind of reasoning I’ve met in people’s posts.
I don’t agree with you on everything there; but I think I agree with you on what’s most important. And now we’re at the topic of these forums: I find it EXTREMELY annoying that about 90% of the posts here seem to be baiting-threads; something like “Protestants, how do you explain…”, and the reply is either ignored or met with the standard-reply…
(please note that I am NOT speaking of genuine questions about what “protestants” actually believe and teach here! Only those who don’t really want to know, but want to use the question to start off the same, tired old story…)
And some of those who at first SEEM not to be baiting-threads, turn out to be anyway.
And those precious few that were NOT baiting-threads at all to start with - becomes baiting-threads, or people just refuse to answer your refutal of their posts, accusing you of being “a catholic-hater”, or having a “bad attitude”, etc, when you point that out.
Etc…
So, bottomline:
Have being on this site made me more open to RCC teachings?
No - on the contrary… It has strengthened my conviction in what I believed when I came here: That many of the teachings of the RCC are not only flawed, but inherently contradictory not only of Scripture, but self-contradictory as well…
And yeah, someone will probably respond to this post, calling me a “catholic-hater”, for stating the obvious.
Go ahead - see if I care. I’m getting sick and tired of stressing that I’m not, over and over again. So go ahead - if that makes you feel better, then say it…
I may sound a little bitter. Well, that’s one of the risks of prolonged exposure to CAF I think…
Makes PERFECT sense to me. I know a lot of Catholics I respect–that doesn’t mean I accept all the dogma of the Catholic Church.i don’t say they are lies… i am just saying that many Protestants think they are false beliefs… so why would a Protestant have a lot of respect for Catholics, yet reject Catholic doctrines… Kinda doesn’t make sense to me…
