Little Mary:
hawkeye,
I’m sorry you are not going to post here anymore, hawkeye, because I was going to ask you more about what life is really like between protestants and Catholics. I was fascinated with what you said - I had no idea there were separate bars and that school children had to go throught horrible things just to get to school.
Maybe you could start another thread just to shed light on this. No reason to argue that I see - just to educate those of us who have never left the continent. (or at least have not seen or experienced what you have)
There isn’t much point in posting all that stuff as it’s my opinion and it would be seen to be biased, anyway from a simple “i’ll pray for you” to a discussion about Northern Ireland is a bit strange.
Anyway things are much improved from the Good Friday agreement that was signed a little over 10 years ago, helped along by senator George Mitchell & your own Bill Clinton, but it took an agreement to be signed on Good Friday to bring this country torn by violence for 30 years to sanity, although not perfect, and more to the point the trouble betweem Ireland and England has been going on for over 800 years :whacky: crazy or what.
But I expect most of you never heard of the Good Friday agreement, about 3 miles from my town last Christmas a Catholic was taken from a Protestant bar out the back and kicked and punched, but he should have known not to be in those places.
Anyway in my town that shall remain nameless incase someone over here reads these forums, it’s not too bad, but I personally never go onto a Protestant bar, although Protestants go into Catholic bars and are mostly treated fine, with a few exceptions to the rules.
Anyway I don’t want to say any more on this subject on a public forum, if you want to know anymore then send a private message.
Ps: as someone on this forum has posted that the Protestants that they met are a fine bunch of people, well most of them are, but theres always the bad apple, anyway if you met them in the USA, of course they will change for the little time they are on holidays, but as soon as the arrive back here they revert to their old ways.
Anyway i’ve opened a can of worms and I’ll bet the demons are about to pounce, ok i’m ready :bigyikes:
