Gay marriage, abortion…
Well, I don’t know if this was my imagination or not (I doubt it) but when I was ten-years-old about, I was at my Grandmothers house with my sister and brother in one room sleeping. I woke up and was very thirsty, and I got up and my sister and brother were gone.i heard God gave him the 20th century for his evil designs… Not at all surprising… the 20th cent saw Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, Amin and i know i am forgetting a bunch… Ted Bundy, etc… Weird…
He wrote the St. Michael prayer for the purpose of thwarting the devil… (the pope did). We are supposed to say it after every Mass… Who’s idea was it to stop doing so???
Another weird thing… the other day i was resting/praying and almost fell asleep and i heard this “guttural” voice myself. Scared the living crud out of me… Cant’ recall what it said… i think i was too scared to hear what it said… just a few stupid words anyway…
(i know they were stupid because i know ?] it was the devil…)
i love the St. M prayer… say it a lot … while praying rosary (at end of decades)
I agree, by now we should know better. We’re supposed to be civilized. Sadam Hussein, Osama bin Ladin,
I say the St. Michael prayer. I don’t ever remember that we were supposed to pray it after every mass publicly. I have never heard it read even pre-Vatican II
Incomplete sentence!!!Gay marriage, abortion…
My theory is we are in the 1000 year reign now. We may even be out of the 1000 reign when the devil is released for his final assault on earth. I just passed a gay bar for men, they are advertising a three day flesh fest with bottles of Rum. GROSS
have you confessed it to a priest? It does seem like an odd thing to say but you were probably just scared and wanted that entity to go away… You were young and probably didn’t know much about the devil… etc… ? Were you raised Catholic?? did you go to Mass regularly?? Was someone in the house into serious sin?? (Sorry i am so curious…Well, I don’t know if this was my imagination or not (I doubt it) but when I was ten-years-old about, I was at my Grandmothers house with my sister and brother in one room sleeping. I woke up and was very thirsty, and I got up and my sister and brother were gone. There were impressions as if they had just been laying there. The house was dark, and I left our room to see if they were somewhere else in the house, and I became really terrified and I couldn’t find them. As I walked into the hallway, the little night-light went out for no reason, and I heard, oddly enough, a very high-pitched male voice, almost hissing, say “The world is in my power, and I’m going to destroy it!”
I was terrified, I just stood there, unable to move. My heart was beating horrifically fast.
“Your family, and you too!” it said.
I had no idea what to do, but I was horrified, and said “I’ll help you” to appease it. A horrible thing to say, I know. It just laughed horribly and I started crying and ran into the bedroom and jumped in bed.
I’ve always felt horrible about what I said, and as I grew older I thought I had made a pact with Satan or a devil. I thought I’d given my life over to him or something.
I’ve only told that story to 3 people in my life.
Not just Protestants (Catholic Forums rules: We aren’t allowed to call them “Prots”) but disobedient, so-called Catholics who constantly publicly disgrace their Church. Like the imbecilic Nancy Pelosi who violates canon law and defiles the Eucharist all the time, and doesn’t even believe the Real Presence. And then on top of that complacent bishops enable her to defile the Eucharist and don’t care! They are all outrageous… it boils my blood, and I’m not even Roman Catholic yet.Incomplete sentence!!!
Are you saying these are reasons why Prot spend more time in Purg?? The episcipalians have gay ministers… and a lot of Prot thin abortion is OK in certain situations like rape, incest…
Is this waht you mean??
I was raised Nazarene and then we went to an independent (liberal) Christian community.have you confessed it to a priest? It does seem like an odd thing to say but you were probably just scared and wanted that entity to go away… You were young and probably didn’t know much about the devil… etc… ?
No, I was not raised Catholic, and when I turned 16 I started going to the Anglican Church, and last Lent I went through RCIA and dropped out. I’m Anglican, but will probably soon become Catholic. Were you raised Catholic?? did you go to Mass regularly??
I do believe my grandfather was in serious sin at the time, but I don’t want to talk about that now. He’s in Heaven, now, since he repented (or in Purgatory? They were Baptists). Was someone in the house into serious sin?? (Sorry i am so curious…). Where were your siblings??
wow… interesting. I just am tired and that is why i abbreviated… thanks for telling me, though. Not just Protestants (Catholic Forums rules: We aren’t allowed to call them “Prots”) but disobedient, so-called Catholics who constantly publicly disgrace their Church. I’m adding to your list!Incomplete sentence!!!

Footnote to Revelation 20:1-6 from NAB:
I can’t see how we could be in the 1,000-year reign now. Not with all the death, destruction and persecution since the time of Christ. The 1,000-year reign is supposed to be a time of absolute peace.
usccb.org/nab/bible/revelation/revelation20.htm1 [1-6] Like the other numerical values in this book, the thousand years are not to be taken literally; they symbolize the long period of time between the chaining up of Satan (a symbol for Christ’s resurrection-victory over death and the forces of evil) and the end of the world. During this time God’s people share in the glorious reign of God that is present to them by virtue of their baptismal victory over death and sin; cf Romans 6:1-8; John 5:24-25; 16:33; 1 John 3:14; Eph 2:1.
footnote to above:7
When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison.
8
He will go out to deceive the nations at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea
6 [7-10] A description of the symbolic battle to take place when ***Satan is released at the end of time, when the thousand years ***are over; see the note on Rev 20:1-6.
Thanks for your additions. There’s just too much information when one is defending the truth isn’t there? It’s amazing the non-catholics can’t see the truth, really. They offer one or two verses, taken out of context or tortured beyond recognition and we offer the entire Bible back to them as evidence and they still deny the truth…truly amazing. This is a classic example of cherry picking verses to make the Word fit personal beliefs. continue to the next verse
2Tim3:17
**so that one who belongs to God may be competent, equipped for every good work. **
The following, then is the teaching in context:
2Tim3:16-17]
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness
2Tim3:17
so that one who belongs to God may be competent, equipped for every good work.
The Teacher does the Teaching. The teacher is trained in the Scriptures so he can TEACH them.
Another point is that at this time, NT wasn’t even written, but orally taught. The written Scripture Paul was speaking about was the OT
The footnote in my Bible (NAB which is a tranlation by Catholic AND Protestant scholars:
4 [16] All scripture is inspired by God: this could possibly also be translated, “All scripture inspired by God is useful for. . . .” In this classic reference to inspiration, God is its principal author, with the writer as the human collaborator. Thus the scriptures are the word of God in human language. See also 2 Peter 1:20-21.
2 Peter
Chapter 1:20
Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation,
Great analogy
Protestants have issues with the word “only.”
I was listening to a CD by Scott Hahn on the Blessed Mother in Scripture. And a statement he made shouted out to me. He says we can’t read our personal views into Scripture. We have to interpret ALL Scripture (OT and NT) the way the earliest Christians practiced and interpreted it. The Church declares as infallible doctrines when accepted beliefs are challenged by heretics. (Council of Trent deslaring Books of Bible when ML threw out the Deutoro’s).
And I’m sure you have the “proper interpretation” over against 2,000 years of Church Fathers and history?I was listening to Scott Hahn on EWTN a couple night ago discuss purgatory & I found his observations did the same thing I see charged here, he cherry picked one or two verses, spun them way out of context, failed to understand the proper typology for those verses, and used them to bolster the idea of purgatory?
The Catholic church and many of the Early Church fathers disagreed; especially about Mary. And I’m sure you have the “proper interpretation” over against 2,000 years of Church Fathers and history?![]()
Scott Hahn is a radical convert to the RCC who is on fire for the church (forget about logic and truth).I was listening to Scott Hahn on EWTN a couple night ago discuss purgatory & I found his observations did the same thing I see charged here, he cherry picked one or two verses, spun them way out of context, failed to understand the proper typology for those verses, and used them to bolster the idea of purgatory?

Well, if that’s the case, why did he become Roman Catholic? Because he became convinced of their claims because of logic, truth, and he wanted an escape from the daily-splintering, divided, confused, and rapidly disintegrating Protestantism, which cannot possibly be God’s Church.Scott Hahn is a radical convert to the RCC who is on fire for the church (forget about logic and truth).
If anyone who believes in purgatory has enough money, there is still time to also get some indulgences APPLIED against the sin-cleansing time possibly necessary to spend there.i wish i could remember where i heard that, but it makes sense because Protestants, generally speaking (especially those who live by OSAS) make a lot of “excuses” for their sins and bad behavior… They think they don’t have to “pay” for then because Jesus paid the price… What they don’t realize is that sin causes an ugly stain on the soul that will keep the soul from entrance into Heaven - until it is wiped away… (by the application of Christ’s Blood atonement)… on this earth and/or in Purgatory…
Revelation says that “no unclean thing will enter Heaven” (21:27)…
(1 Cor 3:13, St. Matthew 18:23, St. Matthew 12:32, etc…)
They don’t seem to believe that what Christ did on Calvary actually has to be APPLIED…
It is like being given a nutritious, delicious meal… and not making a move to eat it because you think… “I don’t need to… i will remain healthy indefinitely anyway…”
