The people thought Noah was a fool. What other people existed with Noah Valke? Speaking in the land that he came from. They all laughed at him. Made fun of him. They were ALL SINNERS, why do you think he chose Noah, a righteous man? Why did the floods come? The Jews were sinning against God.

I think her point may be…there were no “Jews” until after the Kingdom split between Israel and Judah…then during or after the Exile, there were “Jews”…the Noah myth has no “Jews” in it’s story…perhaps some “Hebrew nomads”, and or “Semitic” people, but no “Jews”.

If Noah existed at all, he was not under the covenant made with Abraham. Abraham’s decendents through Isaac became the Jewish people.

If Noah existed he was one of the decendents of Seth(if Seth existed) if I remember correctly. Noah was part of the Middle Eastern people of that time. He may have had Semitic characteristic traits, IF Semetic people had emerged by that time, it’s been a long time since I’ve studied some of the biblical stories in Genesis.
Biblical Hebrews were decendents of Shem"if Shem existed" one of Noah’s sons. They were a nomadic people. Abraham I believe was Hebrew even though he lived in Ur…after his “call” he may have gathered the Hebrew people around him…they may even have been his extended family…I’m a bit rusty.
“Jews” are decended from Judah, after the Exile the so called “10 lost Tribes” were absorbed into Persia, Assyria and I believe the Samaritians were of this stock.
“Jews” survived in Palestine and were called “Jews” because of the Tribe of Judah.
There was no tribe of Judah in Noah’s day, so Noah could not have been a “Jew”.
But if you have other information I’m sure we’d all be facinated to hear it.

NOah comes before the Jews. There are no Jews. That was what I meant. The Jewish people follow Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. THere is nothing in Genises that says anyone laughed or mocked Noah.

(Sorry Mods if it’s too late for this thread but I just noticed it now and it merits response.)
Correction: Catholics have a COVENANT relationship with God.
First century Jews saw the old testament ENTIRELY in terms of covenant (covenant means testament). Covenant to RESTORE and reunite man with God after the fall. “You will be my people, I will be your God”. So when Jesus said “this is the blood of the new Covenant” at the institution of the Eucharist, the apostles’ sat up and took notice. Really took notice. Hence the reunion of man to God through Jesus, who both established the new covenant and is the new covenant. So it’s about our COVENANT relationship with God. I can see how a man-made religion of the 20th century would miss such finer points that the first century Jew would not. Well not really a finer point, but THE point. You might as well change the name from new testament to “New Personalment”.
