I would like the Protestants here to learn about the Saints who were martyred for the faith and to understand something that is truly miraculous throughout the centuries:
People over the centuries have been martyred so viciuosly, so horrendous for the faith, here is a story for you to think about when you doubt the Saints and why Catholics pray THROUGH them.

One of the most amazing preservations is that of St. Andrew Bobola. Prior to his martyrdom he was partially flayed alive, his hands were hacked off and his tongue torn from his head. Splinters of wood were driven under his fingernails, and his face sustained such mutilations he was scarcely recognizable. After hours of further tortures and mutilations, he was dispatched by a sword’s blow to the neck. His body was hastily buried by Catholics in a vault beneath the Jesuit church at Pinsk, where it was found forty years later PERFECTLY PERSERVED, in spite of the open wounds, which would normally foster corruption. Although his grave had been damp, causing his vestments to rot, and in spite of the proximity of decaying corpses, his body was PERFECTLY FLEXIBLE, his flesh and muscles soft to the touch, and the blood which covered the numerous wounds was found to be like that which is freshly congealed.
The preservation was officially recognized by the Congregation of Rites in 1835. Even though the relic was roughly handled during it’s numerous translations, the body remains after more than 300 years in a marvelous state of preservation.
After the martyrdom of St. Josaphat, his body was thrown into a nearby river, where it remained for almost a week. Upon being retreived, it was found to have suffered NO ILL EFFECTS and was consigned to a grave, where it was again found undamaged five years later although the place was excessively damp, causing the deterioration of his vestments.

Of course there are thousands of Saints who are incorruptible but who can explain the reasons for this strange dispensation, which affects so many Holy persons, who, moreover, represent many nations and who lived in various environmental conditions?

Why does anyone need to explain miracles?

It has been noted before that Catholics and Protestants both experience miracles from God, but they tend to be of different types.

Protestants usually have miracles of healing- Blind people see, incurable illnesses cured, broken limbs mended on the spot etc. (I have seen and experienced some of these myself.)

While from Catholics I hear about incorruptible bodies, Crying statues, bleeding bread etc.

Perhaps it is that our approaches to God are different, so He in turn approaches us differently.

I honestly haven’t heard one example of a Protestant miracle.

I was cured of Celiac Disease. Now you have. 🙂

I believe there was a thread awhile back where quite a few people listed out personal miracles they had experienced, I think it had some links to news articles about them too.

The issue you will run into though, is that Protestants do not “document” them the way Catholics do. So you cannot simply look for a list of them.

My mom spoke in another language for about half an hour while she was sleeping, my dad heard her. She remembered four of the words when she woke up, they were Hebrew.

Thats true many are not documented. However it is obvious that you were healed through Christ, although I don’t know much about the issue. I was referring not to ones mastery over themselves, however miracles through nature I guess you could say.

So what’s your point? Protestants are suppose to put their faith in stories like this? To what purpose?

Even if the story was true (which, personally, I doubt), a “preserved,” yet dead body would not compel me to pray to/through the person to whom that dead, mutilated body belongs.

I am told to go (with confidence) straight to the “throne of grace” itself to receive help in time of need (Heb 4:16).

What reason would I have to petition someone who’s mutilated, dead body is still on earth when I can boldly petition the One who died (bodily) in my stead having purified me of all my sins, and then rose from the dead three days later with a glorified body, and in that glorified body ascended back into heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Majesty on High (the seat of power) as my “Intercessor” and “Advocate” before the Father (Heb. 1:3; 7:25; 1 Jn. 2:2)?

I see no reason. 🤷

Syele - were you a former Catholic ? Maybe the paperwork was a bit slow in getting through to head office ?

I’m only joking, it’s great to hear God working in personal ways.
If it’s not too personal can i ask if the cure what a result of a certain act or constant prayer ? Great news !

FOA, if your mother is speaking Hebrew then she sounds blessed as well. I am getting very jealous now. I guess my snoring isn’t so miraculous.

I am very much interested in the incorruptibles and thanks for the posts on Bobola Rightousness. Assuming they are miraculous, does anyone have an opinion on why incorruptibility exists ?

Could it be a sign from God personally or some sort of physical change of matter by holiness and how could that work ?

I noticed your profile as being listed as a bac. I assume it meant born again Christian…I got it right the first time 😃

I expected Protestants to beat up on this thread. I do not believe a Protestant is healed by anyone other than a Catholic priest through which Jesus heals. If you are talking about people like Benny Hinn, who is a liar and a deceiver in his million dollar houses and thousand dollar suits, then I pity you. I will NEVER believe you.

What is the point? Is there something wrong with you? This is only a couple from thousands of Saints who gave their life up for the faith.
Christ gives us the relics of saints as health giving springs through which flow blessings and healing. THIS SHOULD NOT BE DOUBTED. For if at God’s word water gushed from hard rock in the wilderness—yes, and from an ***'s jawbone when Samson was thirsty–why then should it seem incredible that healing medicine should distill from the relics of saints?
Their are also mysterious perfumes that is a frequently reported phenomenon. It has been recorded.
Another condition which defies explanation is the flow of fresh blood that proceeded from a number of these bodies many years after death.

This was a great story about the Saint. I dont see how any person, protestant or whatever would not think that this was something special. To deny it, is just simply ignorant. There is core evidence of it to have happened.

<<I honestly haven’t heard one example of a Protestant miracle.>>

I have. I’ve seen them.

However, the important matter about miracles and other signs is what doctrine comes with it?

And what are the fruits of this in the lives of the people involved?

Which have you seen? Are we talking Benny Hinn or some other phony?

I am a Catholic, but if I got a serious illness, I would receive Anointing from the priest, but I would not expect physical healing. God sometimes allows that, but usually not. I also would not consult of priest before consulting medical professionals.

You can consult both. My aunt was a die-hard Protestant who had MS and was in a wheelchair. She practically was dragged to a healing by a Catholic priest and she got healed that moment. She got up and walked and became a Catholic. Have faith.

lol. I almost converted once. but that is a long story. 😉

I believe it was constant prayer There were many people praying for me regularly for years. On three occasions, God revealed to me that I was healed. The third time I believed. 😉 Celiac Disease is treated by diet so I had a difficult time going off the diet. But God is Good!

I think it’s for the same reason other types of miracles exist, God is showing His awesome power.

Don’t get me started on Benny Hinn. He is a fake and a charlatan. But I have seen people healed in other settings. It was not Catholic priests who healed me or healed my mother or the other healings I witnessed. There were Protestant pastors and/or missionaries involved in each, but I would not ever say “The pastor healed me.” It was God that healed me! The pastor simply prayed with faith.

It’s true though, Protestants should consider why this never happens to any strong adherents to their faith.
Well maybe we do not go around digging up people to see what they look like after they are dead and buried
