I’m heading to pick up my Wife. I may not be back til tomorrow. We’ll probably viisit her Mom. Her Mom appears to be on her death bed. God bless her and be with her and take her into His everlasting and loving arms.
It didnt stop. Fridays are still fast days, you are just allowed to choose your own fast (I am pretty sure on this one, but not 100% and I dont feel like looking it up).If the setting up of fast days by the church is Biblical, why’d it stop? Is it sinning or causing its people to sin?
Sure disobeying the Bible is sin if the specific thing is for all of us to follow.
Look I am not nor will be a brainwashed Catholic who just goes along with whatever because someone in the Church deems it is the way it should be. Now I am not saying that you are or those that just come to terms without understanding what it is that they believe. My faith in Jesus says different, He tells us to try thr Spirits and I do . If you don’t well then I guess you believe anything you are told and if that works for you so be it. I really don’t care what you think I am or not, what is important to me is following Jesus! I am not bickering just don’t agree on some issues.Catholics must consent to the Dogmas of the Church. You don’t. Stop pretending like you are a Catholic when your heart is clearly protestant.
Even Catholics who struggle with the Dogmas make an attempt to come to terms with them or just believe without understanding. You on the other hand have decided to follow made made doctrines, stating them as fact.
And if one is to read any 10 posts of yours, it’s easy to know exactly who’s side you’re on when all you do is bicker with Catholics and get an “Amen” from protestants.
Des is saying that if you want to claim family, you should live by the family’s rules. If you won live the rules you arent in the family. Harsh, but true.Des is saying she is not in your family, is she not?
-I agree it’s not really a meat issue but telling someone they must not eat it or they’ll be sinning.
I hope you apply your logic equally to the man who spilled his seed disobediently. It was a disobedience issue, not a birth control issue.
Obedience is not determinate on infalliblity, but upon authority. Don’t you tell your children to obey you? Should the obey you because you’re infallible, or because you have authority? If the CC was not speaking infallibly about a sin issue that wasn’t a sin, how do I know when they’re really speaking for God? That’s my original point.
Did Jesus say that you can’t be an ABC Catholic? Or that I have to agree with you?Des is saying that if you want to claim family, you should live by the family’s rules. If you won live the rules you arent in the family. Harsh, but true.
You cant be a Pro-Choice Catholic. You cannot be a Pro-ABC Catholic. You may pray for those things to change (they wont), but you can not support them and still be a Catholic.
Again, it sounds harsh, but it is true and based entirely upon love of the trinity and love for each other…
I know you may not understand that, but there it is.
And I am not mocking your understanding, these are hard things to know. Harder to follow, but still hard to understand.
With love,
FSC
I do not believe everything I am told, unless it comes from authority. There is no higher authority on earth than Sacred Scripture together with Sacred tradition. I will argue with neither, since both are inerrant and lead the Holy Catholic Church to infallibility. As such, I do not believe whatever “father says” and you are to be commended for that as well.Look I am not nor will be a brainwashed Catholic who just goes along with whatever because someone in the Church deems it is the way it should be. Tweety, see PR’s post above on authority and obedience. I wanted to re-post it to emphasize it.Yes. I myself question that reference to Onan spilling his seed. It seem to me to be quite a peculiar way to support the Church’s position on birth control.

How did the Israelites know to follow Moses? Even when Moses led them astray in the desert they were obligated to follow him. There were many who didn’t want to submit to him anymore (Num 16). Yet, even though Moses was headed the wrong way, he was being navigated by God every step of the way.
We as Christians are bound to follow what Christ has set up for us. See Matt 23:3
and Heb 13:17
As it is will all disagreements among Protestants and Catholics, the bottom line always becomes the question of authority. Is it me, myself and I who determines what’s God’s revelation, or is it someone else, namely the Body of Christ?
And the authority is whom? The CC but not scriputal? Sorry I will continue my trying every spirit. Doctrine is not the Bible, you believe it because you choose to not because you have searched the scriptures. You allow others to make your faith in Jesus what they believe not what you have found to be in the scriptures. Well as for me being a Catholic or not it is not up to you just Jesus.I do not believe everything I am told, unless it comes from authority. There is no higher authority on earth than Sacred Scripture together with Sacred tradition. I will argue with neither, since both are inerrant and lead the Holy Catholic Church to infallibility. As such, I do not believe whatever “father says” and you are to be commended for that as well.
But you CANNOT hold, stubbornly, views and opinions directly contrary to Catholic Doctrine and be a Catholic. it isnt possible. I am sorry, and I do have empathy for your situation as many of the doctrines you disagree with are VERY hard to follow, but it is the truth.
I pray every day that God will grant me the wisdom to understand all the doctrines that I have trouble with, but I still follow them and I still believe in them. As father Corapi says, a thousand troubles dont make one doubt.

Well she or you can decide to be obediend to something even if it is not true if you like but as for me I choose to believe JesusTweety, see PR’s post above on authority and obedience. I wanted to re-post it to emphasize it.
The irony in such a statement.Des, why don’t you mind your own business.
No but Jesus founded a church and said: Whatever [YOU] bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and what [YOU] loose will be loosed.Who is any church to tell a believer how to be disciplined in a way not spoken in the Bible? The Bible tells us we should fast, it tells us we should pray. I can’t remember a verse that tells us we’re sinning if we don’t fast or pray.
God Bless onenow1Does’nt Jesus tell the Phasisees that they indeed will fast after the crucifixion sounds like a command to me?
Thank you Fides for the back up. Oh and I’m not a she. I’m a he.She is correct. And she is minding her business.
And you don’t have someone’s say so that the Bible is the Written Word of God? On what grounds do you assume this?I don’t care who said it , it ain’t in the Bible. All you have is someones say so. Oh and mind your own salvation.
The Bible is the word of God period. I do not assume anything.Thank you Fides for the back up. Oh and I’m not a she. I’m a he.
