Please pray for these folks whose lives are being severely affected by their addictions: Daniel, Manuel, Scott Amin and Eddie, who are struggling mightily with substance abuse. Kevin struggles with sexual and money addictions due to his childhood traumas. Please pray for these guys, they are all homeless and alone, with no one to care or pray for them.
Praying for them and all who struggle with addictions…Hail Mary

An update: Eddie completely relapsed, he was caught shooting up heroin in our mens room and has been banned from the building. Pray for him, he is so institutionalized after 20 years in jail, it will be very difficult for him to ever be free again if he gets picked up.
James is still holding his own after 15 years of being addicted to guns and street violence. He is in a program and is working for the first time in his life. He has trouble staying on point, but so far, is managing to keep it together. This is just a heartbeat away from trouble though, and he still needs prayer.Freedom causes many of these guys to fall back into their old ways.
Kevin is being moved to another prison in a few weeks. He is
still doing very well, but needs lots of prayers for his sexual addictions and his criminal addictive thinking that, like James, has taken root in his life. He is anxious about his move, and needs extra prayers at this time.
Thank you for remembering these men, and all the others I have asked you to pray for. They are wanting a good life, but need tons of support to acheive the strength to get it.

Dear Lord, watch over these men, and all who suffer from addiction. Grant them the strength and courage to overcome their pain & sorrow. Guide them with your everlasting love, that they may find peace in their hearts.

**Novena to St. Maximilian Kolbe

St. Maximilian Kolbe, your life of love and labor for souls was sacrificed amid the horrors of a concentration camp and hastened to its end by an injection of a deadly drug.

Look with compassion upon Daniel, Manuel, Scott Amin, Eddie, Kevin and all who are now entrapped in addiction, and whom we now recommend to your powerful intercession.

Having offered your own life to preserve that of a family man, we turn to you with trust, confident that you will understand and help.

Obtain for us the grace never to withhold our love and understanding, nor to fail in persevering prayer that the enslaving bonds of addiction may be broken and that full health may be restored to those whom we love.

We will never cease to be grateful to God who has helped us and heard your prayer for us. Amen.**

But for the grace of God, there go I. :signofcross:

iserve, my best friend Ronnie, about four years ago, was jobless, alcoholic, and lived in a camper shell that was taken off the back of a truck. Oh, one more thing: he was also a crack head, staying high for days at a time. In other words, hopeless in the terms and thinking of this world. Following is a Reader’s Digest condensed version of a blessed life extracted by the Lord from a sordid life of sin.

He was arrested on an outstanding warrant. He went to jail and de-toxed over the course of the next three days. He fell into a semi-comatose slumber. That’s when the Lord’s love was made manifest. He graciously provided Ronnie with the most shocking and frightening experience of his life - a vision of hell. Ronnie describes horrific abuses that were to occur to him. He received the message that this was his eternity if he did not repent. He begged God for help.

Once released, he sought direction through various churches, was baptized and “born again” three times (!) and searched for a lasting solution. Then, he was lead back to the Catholic faith of his youth. He made a sobbing confession and received many graces. He worked his way into a painting business, got an apartment (in a horrible neighborhood) and prayed and returned to church.

Since, he has moved to a much better place, has his own car, a new job supervising a painting crew, a company truck, and hope. Oh yeah, he is a Eucharistic minister, evangelizes the homeless and addicted, takes them home to help them dry out, takes them to mass with him. In short, he is walking the walk.

Both addictions (alcohol and rock cocaine) are gone. No desire. He is a walking, talking miracle and he praises the Lord constantly. Do not despair over the ups and downs of those who struggle. Prayer is the answer. The Lord did not conceive of them from all eternity just to abandon them at their low points. It is precisely then that he is the closest and most compassionate.

Christ’s peace.

May the Divine Mercy of Jesus, protect and free all those suffering from additions. Amen:signofcross:

Keeping all those with addictions in daily prayer

Keeping all your intentions in prayer. Thank you for this update. Life must be very difficult for these men and The Lord knows this too…keeping them in daily prayer…my journey is icecream compared to what these men must endure…

I continue to pray for these men. :signofcross:

Novena to St. Maximilian Kolbe

St. Maximilian Kolbe, your life of love and labor for souls was sacrificed amid the horrors of a concentration camp and hastened to its end by an injection of a deadly drug.

Another update- Amin has burned some bridges with a job developer I sent him to. He continues to deny his addiction, which is clearly entrenched in his daily life. I am looking for a person from his country who can reach out to him.
Daniel has gone to counseling but is being distracted by a girl (who also happens to be addicted) who suddenly reappeared on, of course Valentines day! In his lonliness and the sad life of living in a shelter, this is going to make his recovery difficult.
Manuel and Mike, AUdrey, Billy Nick and Rebeccah are all doing very well. And my friend, Ty will be released from jail on Monday into the same program that several of these folks are in, which happens to be a very good one. May God watch over him.
So, keep up your prayers and place all hope in God’s mercy upon those who are weak and vulnerable. Nothing could be worse than the conditions that some of these folks live in, and it represents the bottom of a long degrading situation. Thanks for thinking of them and keeping their trials in your hearts.
