I wasn’t shocked either. Neither do I feel threatened. If there was ever a group of people who were to be pitied it was this crowd. To see the God-shaped hole in the human heart reduced to this pathetic, frivolous imitation of worship is sad rather than shocking.

Not as bad as I feared, but, Lord, what are these people thinking? It reminds me of a very bad Catholic choir trying to do gospel music. The most off-outting thing --and the most ironical thing, considdring the age of the participants–is this stuff about a “new Church.” Maybe a REnewed Church, but obviously they are estranged from the “old” Church at least in spirit.

I am reminded of a story I read years ago, of a mass on the battlefield,(by Ernie Pyle?) where the chaplain, dressed in fatigues, took time to put on his vestments while his assistant prepared his altar (the hood of his jeep). Went through the mass while the hundred men or so stood in front of him soundlessly, except when Father made a joke. The reporter was not a Catholic and he was amazed at the quiet, because the sounds of battle could be heard in the distance. But just this place of peace in a violent world.

The opposite of what is going on here. Young men, acutely aware of reality and so close to God.

A couple encouraging things about this.

The nonsense has become more nonsensical. And the community older. As with other heresies, it will die out.

And youth fills those parishes that accept Tradition. That seek not to change the Church, but to allow the Church to change them.
 
From that link, the fellow presiding over the puppet mass is the Right Reverend Remi de Roo, retired Bishop Emeritus of Victoria. So unless it was Coolaid and Cookies, looks like the mass may well have been valid. But not quite licit.

No they have not. They have been excommunicated in the Diocese of Lincoln, but that decision, by definintion, only applies to CTA members who reside in the diocese’s boundries. No other bishop in the US has issued an excommunication.

Or the WBKB (WLS TV) offering of “Cabbages and Kings” but those shows would all be too orthodox for the Call To Action crowd.

It’s the puppets that concelebrated Mass. Gotta stick with the puppet theme.

I finally saw the video. The priest puppets were lame. I mean, they weren’t even clapping their hands rhythmically like everyone else. If you’re going to have oversized puppets, they ought to at least high 5 somebody.

I’d like to see one of these puppets stand up against the Our Lady of the New Millenium statue.

I believe that Dominicans were there. I think I saw Cuddly Duddly.

Did you notice that Rohlf was the leading the music ministry?

I liked that new hymn: “We can’t live with Him, we can’t live without Him. There’s something irresistablish about Him.”

Or how about the communion antiphon:

"We’re going home to Jesus’s house,
He’s cool as he can be,
With his robes of gold and his heart that’s bold,

I just heard from Cardinal Kermit, Frog Prince of the Church. He is sending an envoy to investigate: two cranky old men are on their way!

Quick, hide Elmo! Make him think it’s a game to play along with.

Oh, and the Count would like to know how many people attended each Mass last October.

That dude can really swing a chain, too! Speaking as a former thurifer, he’s got some skill. And style? He rocks! Just look at those moves. It ain’t every thurifer who can carry it off so swell. Really, if there was an Olympics of censor swinging, he’d have a good chance at qualifying for the U.S. team.

I did notice that too. :-p

I kept expecting him to burn down the building or give someone a concussion or something, but he didn’t. O that such talent would be put to less nefarious uses!
 
Next week at Mass… Father celebrates Liturgy by spotlight. All you shall see is the shadow puppets he makes with his hands via the secret gestures they taught in seminary projected upon the Sanctuary wall.
