=Petersmate;9918585]can anyone please quote the part of scripture that supports the theological idea of Purgatory.
And can you tell me what the CCC says.
Purgatory; like Heaven and Hell exist because of God’s PERFECT Justice.
Because we ARE Created in the image of God: **Gen.1:26-27 **and like God have the Spiritual Gifts of a mind, intellect, Freewill ATTACHED to our souls; and because like God these are spiritual things that cannot die or be killed.
And because God DESIRES [but neither commands or demands] that as many as freely choose to be with Him and PAY THE PRICE He fixed for admission to Heaven which MUST be done in FULL accord with His Teachings, directions and Perfect Will. A Command which Demands that one be made PERFECT before entry into heaven is possible; which deals with the seldom understood NATURE of sin having a “pay-back” cause in addition to the actual forgiveness of sin, which can ONLY be accomplised as Christ Commands.
**Matt.5: 48 **“You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect
Genesis 17:1 “And after he began to be ninety and nine years old, the Lord appeared to him: and said unto him: I am the Almighty God: walk before me, and be perfect.”
John.20 Verses 20 to 23" When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them,
"Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained"
Because FAR more souls die less than “Perfect”; God’s sense of Justice causes and permits a method for ALL who die w/o unconfessed-unforgiven Moral sins to be PERFECTED even after death, and thus at some distant point attain Heaven.
***HERE ARE SOME BIBLE VERSES THAT SPEAK DIRECTLY OF PURGATORY.
No the term "purgatory is NOT in the “bible’.” Then again neither is the term “bible.”***
Lev.22: 21 “And when any one offers a sacrifice of peace offerings to the LORD, to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering, from the herd or from the flock, to be accepted it must be perfect; there shall be no blemish in it"
Rev. 21: 27 “But nothing unclean shall enter it, nor any one who practices abomination or falsehood, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.”
Mt. 5: 26 truly, I say to you, you will never get out till you have paid the last penny.
God Bless you,
