Confirmation is just for catholics, right?šŸ˜‰
Well I do not think so, I think its for all Christian ,well I know its for all Christian if you use it, it like the confession but you must use it,does that answer you question,Like understand all the bible and not the part you agree with. Like the Eucharist but you must use it

Actually, you are wrong; Phillip explained to the eunuch what he had read, the eunuch BELIEVED in Christ, repented for his sins, and then he was baptized!šŸ˜›
Matt. 28:19-20 - Jesus commands the apostles to baptize all people ā€œin the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.ā€ Many Protestant churches are now teaching that baptism is only a symbolic ritual, and not what actually cleanses us from original sin. This belief contradicts Scripture and the 2,000 year-old teaching of the Church.

Acts 2:38 - Peter commands them to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ in order to be actually forgiven of sin, not just to partake of a symbolic ritual.

Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 2:38 - there is nothing in these passages or elsewhere in the Bible about baptism being symbolic. There is also nothing about just accepting Jesus as personal Lord and Savior in order to be saved.

Mark 16:16 - Jesus said ā€œHe who believes AND is baptized will be saved.ā€ Jesus says believing is not enough. Baptism is also required. This is because baptism is salvific, not just symbolic. The Greek text also does not mandate any specific order for belief and baptism, so the verse proves nothing about a ā€œbeliever’s baptism.ā€

John 3:3,5 - unless we are ā€œborn againā€ of water and Spirit in baptism, we cannot enter into the kingdom of God. The Greek word for the phrase ā€œborn againā€ is ā€œanothenā€ which literally means ā€œbegotten from above.ā€ See, for example, John 3:31 where ā€œanothenā€ is so used. Baptism brings about salvation, not just a symbolism of our salvation.

Acts 8:12-13; 36; 10:47 - if belief is all one needs to be saved, why is everyone instantly baptized after learning of Jesus?

Acts 16:15; 31-33; 18:8; 19:2,5 - these texts present more examples of people learning of Jesus, and then immediately being baptized. If accepting Jesus as personal Lord and Savior is all one needs to do to be saved, then why does everyone in the early Church immediately seek baptism?

Acts 9:18 - Paul, even though he was directly chosen by Christ and immediately converted to Christianity, still had to be baptized to be forgiven his sin. This is a powerful text which demonstrates the salvific efficacy of water baptism, even for those who decide to give their lives to Christ.

Richard,

That letter was written to the Romans, all of whom had already been baptized (Chapter 6).

It is important that we understand the historically intended audience of these letters. That letter was not written to you.
If these verses, or for that matter any verse in the Bible was not written for us, then why bother having or reding the Bible? Of course these were intended for us!

It is pointless to kep osting these verses as we understand where bptism fits into the plan of salvation! I do admire your diligence however!😃

There are slow people on both sides of the aisle! I completely understand both verses; did you read and understand Acts 8:37?

Acts 8’37 this i s omit from my bible, let me get another bible,My KJB is at the office so it must be later to get a answer, can you wait

As far as I can tell, Richard is dialed in! In other words he gets it. Peter told the people to turn back to God for forgiveness of sin, be baptized in the name of Jesus, and the would receive the gift of the Holy Spirit! Believe first, repent, confess, be baptized receive!šŸ‘
I get it so that makes 3 of us.

If you gave us the Bible, how could you leave out such an important verse?

I have three different versions on my computer side by side in the same software.

the information in the software is telling me " the best authorities" do not include this verse
(acts 8:37).

In recent years some of the newer discoveries have found minor parts of scripture to be missing within the oldest found manuscripts. Not sure if this is true here, but may be why he was missing it, in is version. The KJV still has it included.

Other included passages I have read about is the end of Matthew and some of the story of the woman brought before Jesus for adultery. I would have to look the verses up to be exact.

Code:
Jesus altho sinless decided to be baptised to fulfill OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. He knew that there would be people that for some reason or another could not be baptised (ie. the thief on the cross). So He being our propitiation in all things was baptised for them. _
This is silly. God is not constrained by the commandments He gives to us. He can save whoever He wants, however He likes. He was baptized to fulfill all righteousness, but not ā€œoursā€.
Code:
Baptism however does not take away sins.
Don’t you ever wonder why the NT says the opposite?
Code:
If that were the case there would have been no need for the cross.
Baptism is how we are united to Him in His death on the cross.
Code:
What baptism is, is basically an anouncement ....
This concept is a modern evangelical innovation. You will not find any evidence in the NT to support this.
Code:
that the one being baptised has accepted Jesus as thier Lord and Savior and have repented of thier sins. It is this acceptance and repentance that allows the candidate to be forgiven. The baptismal rite is important also in it's symbolism.
Yes, this is what it means ā€œbe baptized, calling upon His nameā€.
Code:
Romans6:3Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

When we are plunged under the waters of baptism, we are accepting His death in place of our death, and when we come up from the water (grave) we accept Jesus’ resurrection as ours and therefore walk in newness of life. This symbolism is the reason that the only valid form of baptim is total immersion. And because baptism is an act of faith only those old enough to accept Christ in faith are capable of being baptised.
You get the concept, you just seem to fall short in that this describes actual spiritual realities. It is not just ā€œsymbolismā€ but effects that which it symbolizes.

In these verses we see Philip explaining Isaiah 53 to the Ethiopian Eunuch v. 37 tells us the reason for baptism 37And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, **I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. **
The reason for baptism is to tell the world that we are now a child of God in Jesus Christ. Our sins have already been forgiven when we are baptised.
No, Richard. The ā€œworldā€ was not watching when Phillip baptized the Eunuch. There is nothing in scripture that implies that baptism’s purpose is to ā€œtellā€ anyone anything. On the contrary, the early church did baptisms in secret, because those participating in them were under the pain of death.

Why do you think the NT says that baptism washes away sins?
God forgives our sins when and only when we repent accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Baptism is the announcement of that acceptence.
there is nothing in scripture about baptism being an ā€œannouncementā€ of anything.
ā€œRepent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sinsā€
It is a puzzle how anyone can read this and still think that baptism does not remit sins. 🤷
Because in order to be baptised we need to answer Philip the same way the eunuch did. 37And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. A baby just cannot do that.
Certainly adults need to do this. however, your theory falls through when we consider that baptism replaces circumcision as the entrance rite into the New Covenant.

If you gave us the Bible, how could you leave out such an important verse?
1beleevr, I said I can not fine it in my Bible that was a old protestants Bible, and I never said I never give any one a bible,so you are WRONG of two acct.
Who said": And how can I, unless some man shew me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him". Acts 8:31 is this the right verse ,and what was your question
I had 5 kids running around last night and forgot what you ask, please ask again

[SIGN][/SIGN]

Huh? First of all Eoh 4 is talking about the incarnation.

In 1 Cor Paul was addressing the divisions in the community for goodness sakes. I have no idea what you are talking about?
Eph 4 is not talking about incarnation. The reason you have no idea what I am talking about is, ā€œBecause you arn’t born againā€. The thigs of God are sporitualy discerned
