I guess you forgot so I will remind you. Jesus came to fulfill the Old Testament. circumcision was the symbol of that covenant. Jesus’ covenant is with Baptism fulfilling and completing what circumcision was. Circumcision was replace by baptism. Paul was telling the Galatians that they were no longer under the old covenant. It says nothing about the new. Neither does Romans deny what I have said about baptism. In fact, it substantiates it.

No I do not see Christ as the Rock Moses struck. It is interesting but it is an interpretation. Can you provide a scripture that says that? Go back through the thread and all the references provided that Jesus gives the power to forgive sins to the Apostles. You have a misunderstanding of what the Bible is. There is a Catholic Catechism on line that will give you the best understanding.

Why do you have such a problem with noncatholics going directly to the Father(God) for repentance, confession, and ultimately forgiveness? I don’t have a problem with catholics going, despite what some may think; just saying I do not believe in it!

Let me know how that telling God His Church is defective works out for you on judgement day.
]

For there is now, no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus! Romans 8:1 See you on Judgement Day!👍

It did not say that Paul was percuting the CC, thats all believers. And In Matthew and all of Christ’s words He is speaking to us believers. The apostles were the only ones there. It is pretty obivios You or I wern’t No one is taking anything out of context, all of scripture is for all and Jesus is speaking to all of us.,

:thumbsup:Paul was persecuting Christians, or believers; in essence, persecuting Christ! And you are right, the Word is for all!👍

Sure it does tweey sweety read it. Avts 9:1 Now Saul still breathing murderous threats against the disciples of the Lord went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus that if he should find any men or women who belonged to THE WAY.

THE WAY IS A NAME USED BY THE EARLY CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES. Now are you going to sit here and say that Peter"s Church and the Apostles Church were not the CC Church. When I already explained to you the that the word Catholic came from the second Pope. Another name for Christian Church.

Poor, poor misguided rinnie! When Paul was persecuting Christians, the Way was not yet known as the cc:rotfl:

[SIGN][/SIGN]
Actually he did, but in a different way.
Katholikus comes from a combo of 2 words.

Kata (concerning)
Holos (whole)

According to the oxford Dic. of English Elmology it means universal of general.

The word Church in greek means called out.

It was first recorded in Ignatius of Antioch, there was a young man named Ignatius who was actually ordained by Peter that was the first to call the Church Catholic.

He wrote (Epistle of Smymaeans 8)

Now there is history that he was the 2nd Bishop of Rome and he was ordained by Peter. Thats proves that his church and Peters Church is indeed the same.[SIGN] He was immerced in the Living Traditions of the Local Church in Antioch where the first believers were called Christians. acts 11:26[/SIGN]
This is recorded, he was the one who first called the Church that was started by Jesus and build on Peter the Catholic Church.:D’’

Check it out. So the CC the church that was started in Antioch. Ignatius is who gave it that name.
There it is, see how nice it ties in all together. The CC. How’s that 1b. Thats some major skirt blowing:rotfl don’t ya think:D

1b you better stop blowing up that skirt of yours and read the bible.

Gal 1:13 For you heard of my former way of life in Judaism how I persecuted the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it.

Now how can Paul try to destroy the Church Of Christ if you claim it did not exist yet?

Good now figure out who was the second Bishop of Antioch following Peter and you will find the MAN who called that Church Catholic:D

ANd thats looks like a good B I N G O to me:D

they were christians. There was no name on the church at that time. Thank you but you can tell me until Jesus comes and when I hear Him say then I will believe. So I am going to sit here and tell you that it was not the CC. It was the apostles who believed in Jesus. I too am a believer in Jesus so the whole Bible is for all. God Bless

Coosa all of the main ideas of indulgence is based are found in the bible. The church’s power to bind and loose, various atonement among members of the church, and penance. Although the doctine is developed like all others it is not unbiblical in the least. In fact check out

St Paul himself issued an indulgence by lessening the temporal penance for sin of a straying brother 2 cor 2:6-11 which he previously imposed on him 1 Cor 5:3-5. The CC adds no more in essence to the practices and theilogical presuppositions of these 2 passages. Hope that answers your question.
Sorry. I don’t find anything like Purgatory promised to Christians anywhere. Does the Church have the power to release souls from purg. or not?

He was destroying Christ’s church of all believers. If it was called Catholic, why didn’t he say so?

Tweets. I agree the whole bible if for all. I never disagreed with you on that. The Catholic Church is for all. Thats why its the First church and it universal for all. No one is denied access to it. The CC gave you the bible remember Tweety.

Sure God told the Church what to say, but the Church wrote it down and shared it with all.

Why don’t you come on over some day and visit us. We would love you have you. Bring 1b with you. All are welcome.

But just because I like you Tweet, I have to defend my faith. I hope you can understand. No hard feelings?:hug3:

Remember it was the second Pope that re-named the Christian Church Catholic not Paul. Peter was the Pope then. Universal, One, Catholic, they all have the same meaning. But remember it just another name for the original Christian Church.

Like the Trinity Tweets. You accept that right. Its not in the bible not the word, but you accept that right? See The Father The SON the HOLY SPRIT= The Trinity.

Christian, universal, One = Catholic.

But you must agree it was the Church that was started by Peter. Well Peter handed that Church down and so on and so on and now we have our wonderful Pope of today. Nothings changed Tweety.

I like you too and you can defend till the cows come home and I say good for you. If you believe all then 👍 I do not carry hard feelings, not too Christ like right.

right my love. God bless you tweey. And by the way your husband is in my prayers daily. I pray he is still well.

Thank you for thinking of me in this way. But it isn’t neceessary, because I do not believe there is a purgatory. We have our chance to be right with God here on earth and He gives us many chances. When we are dead our chance is over. But thanks anyway.

Oh and by the way it is not self imposed understanding, it is Holy Spit it understanding, God Bless
So every one, Tweety, our loving Catholic dissident at Catholic Answers, does not believe in Purgatory along with a whole lot of other Christian Doctrine, in the end it is not going to matter really if she believes it to be Truth or not because she is going to have to experience it anyway, just as we all will if our hearts are not completely purified at our last breath. And if we don’t watch out the time we have to spend getting it purified , so as to be with the Father forever, may take until the second coming of our Sweet Lord Jesus Christ. So you better be good Tweet and start following and believing all the revelation Jesus gave to his Church. You will be ever so enlightened if along with the New Testament , which the Church gave to us,you give the CCC a good read, you will, perhaps, learn to understand better the full Truth.

Only the pure in heart will see the face of God.
See the Beatitudes in Matthew 5.
Peace, and God bless, Carlan

You have made a conclusion that is not warranted. I never said I had a problem. The problem lies with you who try to discredit that Jesus established a Church along with seven sacraments. You are the one who says you can go directly to God while ignoring that Jesus gave the power to forgive sins to His Apostles.

I am saved, and baptized(in that order), and am a member of the Bride of Christ; even if you believe I am imperfectly! It seems like that a church which was founded by a Jew(Jesus)for Jews, has become very exclusive and territorial when it comes to its religion! But, whatever blows your skirt up!😛
You are not saved. The Church was founded as the Way to the Father. As far as being exclusive, Jesus said that the road to perdition was wide while the road to heave was narrow.
But, whatever blows your skirt up!😛
Crude talk never enhances an argument but rather looses it no matter how righteous the argument might be.
