That charge can be turned around, as well.Bizarre to me that some of the same people who demonize US politicians as “socialists” are so happy to sing the praises of a murderous former KGB agent who is working hard to restore what we used to call the Evil Empire to its former glory.
That’s a sobering thought isn’t it?We need to pray for world leaders, including those we consider our enemies. If we say critical things about a world leader - even if those things are true - but we don’t also pray for that person, then I believe we are going to be held accountable for that someday.
Can I just put this out there as maybe an explanation why the warranted outrage against Putin goes by the wayside in favour of his supposed virtues?I don’t think Putin is a secret agnostic/atheist who is solely using religion to gain support and followers.
I think he’s a Christian that believes in God but he also doesn’t have a well-formed conscience and he rationalizes to himself why he supposedly needs to do such and such a thing, such as take out a political opponent or invade X or Y territory. So he’s a Christian as well as a sensationalist who does many un-Christian things.
That’s just the impression I get from him. Plenty of violent Christian monarchs with malformed consciences over the centuries would fit into the same category.
