This is just disheartening. What are conservatives thinking?

" Conspiracy theorists won a major victory on Tuesday as a Republican supporter of the convoluted pro-Trump movement QAnon triumphed in her House primary runoff election in Georgia, all but ensuring that she will represent a deep-red district in Congress.

The ascension of Marjorie Taylor Greene, who embraces a conspiracy theory that the F.B.I. has labeled a potential domestic terrorism threat, came as six states held primary and runoff elections on Tuesday."

Hard to get too upset with this when the Dem party’s past president and nominated VP candidate are anti-Catholic.

You know, unverified slurs just don’t get us any further along. That’s just some irrelevant attempt at scoring debate points.

There is a wide difference between questioning a judicial candidate about adherence to law and voicing support for radical internet conspiracy theories and for groups that the FBI calls terrorist organizations.

I agree, but it was said in the same spirit as the post to which it was a response.

Not by much. When the president of the U.S. deliberately targets the Little Sisters of the Poor to force them to violate their religious principles by providing abortifacients, seems to me the only real difference between him and his minions and this QAnon bunch is that the former had power and the latter does not.

That means it was irrelevant and off the subject of this thread. To say there is not that much difference between a terroristic group and medical regulations, however onerous, is just not tenable.

But see, you’re defining your way to your conclusion. If you say, for example, that all Jews in the U.S. must eat pork publicly at least once/week or risk being heavily fined or jailed, nobody would really deny that’s a terroristic act. It was no different with the Little Sisters.

This QNon bunch is, I guess, designated as a terrorist group. Ted Kennedy was once on the terrorist “no fly” list. I am not aware of any terrorist acts they have committed. I can’t open the NYT article, of course, because it requires payment. It might name some terrorist acts.

  1. The Little Sisters and anything they were forced or not forced to do has nothing to do with Kamala Harris
  2. You chose to equate the Democratic party with some of radical lunacy of Qanon.
  3. Ms. Greene’s views and statements have been called racist by Republicans. Now she is going to Congress as a Republican.

I view forcing the Little Sisters to provide abortifacients or face ruinous fines as worse than simply alleging that Sharia law is unconstitutional but doing nothing about it.

And when it comes to bigotry it seems to me there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between this Greene person saying the following:

"n one video message, Greene acknowledged that U.S. laws protect freedom of religion — and then said, “but I’m sorry, anyone that is a Muslim, that believes in Sharia law, does not belong in our government.”

Kamala Harris does not believe a member of the K of C does either. She’s just more urbane about it. So she has better manners than Greene but is just as bigoted. Mox nix.

In the realm of what causes the most harm… a conspiracy theorist matters less to me that someone who does not value innocent life.

I’m not one to participate in groups like this, but after nearly four years of hoaxes and conspiracy theories about Trump bring a Russian spy, extorting other world leaders and being a racist, it isn’t surprising this type of thing happens in response.

" Rep. Adam Kinzinger (Ill.) became the first Republican in Congress on Wednesday to condemn Marjorie Taylor Greene’s support of the QAnon conspiracy theory after Greene won her Republican House primary in a deep-red Georgia district.

“Qanon is a fabrication,” Kinzinger tweeted. “This ‘insider’ has predicted so much incorrectly (but people don’t remember PAST predictions) so now has switched to vague generalities.”

“Could be Russian propaganda or a basement dweller,” he continued. “Regardless, no place in Congress for these conspiracies.”"

Trump himself is a big promoter of conspiracy theories, so that could be a factor too. It’s where this whole movement leads.

Someone else made him do it? That’s an excuse for junior high.

" QAnon first surfaced in 2017 with a series of anonymous posts on the internet forum 4chan claiming to reveal high-level government intelligence about crimes by top Democrats. It has since spawned one of the most disturbing and consequential conspiracy theory communities in modern history. Its followers have committed serious crimes, and its online vigilantes have made a sport of harassing and doxxing their perceived enemies. The F.B.I. has cited QAnon as a potential domestic terror threat, and social networks have begun trying to pull QAnon groups off their platforms. Dozens of QAnon-affiliated candidates are running for office this year. One of them, Marjorie Taylor Greene, won a primary runoff Tuesday for a House seat in Georgia, drawing a congratulatory tweet from Mr. Trump."

It has nothing to do with someone making someone do something (making people do things is a progressive authoritarian concept).
It has to do with a reaction to the Four years of lies perpetrated by Democrats and its media.

We must have different ideas of what a coup is.
Clearly some do not think creating a false narrative, claiming opposition research is evidence in a court, and regularly lying in the media (Schiff, Brennan, Comey, Clapper and many more) in an attempt to get a president removed from office is a coup attempt.
I do.
