Every Church which claims Christ as Lord can trace its history to Christ, and can truly claim Christ as its founder.

SDA’s are a denomination of Christ’s Universal Church. 1843 and 1844 were mistakes, but Adventist’s admit so. It is not because of pride, and fear of being wrong that they continue to hold these dates to be important. It is because they really believe that something important happened in 1844.

The Adventist Church is to be commended in my opinion because they are the one Church which has not sided with Biblical critics by accepting an allegorical interpretation of Daniel 8. Think about it. Daniel 8 either concerns Antiochus, or something we have not understood as of yet, and the Adventists are the only ones trying to understand it. If it is about Antiochus, you must cut the 2300 days in half, and then shorten it still more to make it fit the desecration he was responsible for. You get into the act of messing witht he date and dates to make it fit.

How I understand the SDA they do indeed base their denomination on their mistake on behalf of william miller and his supporters, but instead of just simply leaving the misinterpretation like william miller, they reinterpreted and said it was our mistake to believe Christ was comming, but what actually happened in that year is that He went to the Holiest of Holy place in Heaven and began to judge, hence Investigative Judgment (one of their important doctrines based on misinterpretation yet again).

The Seventh Day Adventist in the start did not believe in the trinity, and was not thought of as a christian church because of it, and they decided to accept the trinity in order to be accepted as a Christian Denomination by both the Roman Catholic Church and Protestant Churches, infact when it comes to it, Their version of Jesus is very similiar and yet slightly different from the Traditional Jesus, Their Jesus had older brothers (Desire of Ages, page 99 or 89 i think), which contradicts the idea the Mary gave birth to Jesus as a virgin. UNLESS they do agree that brothers during biblical times was also referred to cousins.

so SDAism started off as a non christian church (because of the trinity) with misinterpretations

and the method the SDA uses to interpretate their prophecy is just a method to prove to themselves that they are the remnant church

What??! PLEASE explain!
You might want to the read the story of Moses in the torah to understand why Moses was Jewish (sentenced to be drowned with other hebrew babies, saved from death and taking his place under God’s guidance as the leader of his people, leading his people out of Egypt towards the promised land, receiving the torah and ten commandment etc.) When Jews celebrate passover they are celebrating their history. Those are my Jewish ancestors. Incidentally what did you think he was, Christian? Pagan? whatever religion that Charlton Heston is?

So for you Hebrew and Jewish is the same?

How can he be Jewish when his parents were from the tribe Levi?

Haha I just noticed you were kinda freaking out here 😃 , relax man.!

I love questions like this one because, at the end of the day it always comes down to reliance on the Catholic Church’s stand on the matter. Much like the date of Christmas and the Trinity, Hell and so many other things. All the “bible only” arguments can go only so far, and there will always be a counter argument from another bible only believer.
I think that the members of Protestant denominations that have a liturgical form of worship are less inclined to fall into such heresies like this, as they do value tradition of the forefathers, which at least all of those denominations do agree on these issues.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

Your tradition very often contradicts the scripture. I`d rather be dead than follow human tradition. 😉

I would worry I would end up dead if I did not trust Jesus left us a living Church.

And, nothing Catholics believe contradicts scripture.

Many Protestants do not realize how many things they believe contradict scripture. Hardly surprising is that the newer form of protestant has a higher amount of heresy, like this example for instance. Strict adherants of this saturday sabbath (protestant ones) can trace themselves back how far exactly?

what alot of protestants do not realize is that before Ignatius urged the all the bishops to centralize to survive through the centuries, people had church services in their own homes, but alot of these christians were reading from gospels that contradicts the gospels we have today, such as the gosepel of Judas Iscariot ( gosh i hope I spelled it right), where Judas looked like the good guy and that Jesus told him to betray him. I am thankful that Jesus Left us a living church and picked the 12 people whom, he entrusted and knew that the 12 would lead his new church to what it is today ( the RCC)

Oh yes, of course Jesus left us a living church but I am sure it is not the Catholic one.

It does. It has been discussed here numerous times.

Heresy? Haha. Maybe torture would help?

All the way up to God`s creation actually.😉

it is not the Catholic one.

Thank you for offering your personal opinion on the matter.

There have been many threads on the topic and from what I can see your side has yet to prove that Catholics believe anything that contradicts scripture.

You said:

I respond with:
The belief we as Christians must keep the saturday sabbath is in fact Heresy to hold yes. And, if torture would help you change from holding this view, I will have to see if it is allowable and then procede to offer it if need be. Somehow I think its not okay. But, I see you are driving at something else and cant stay on topic with saturday sabbath can you?

1831 at the earliest - probably somewhat later than that. They didn’t begin to be called Seventh Day Adventists until 1861, when Ellen White took over the leadership. (Source: The Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance: The Seventh Day Adventists)

It’s interesting that the Branch Davidians actually had their origins in Seventh Day Adventism - I hadn’t realized that, before.

“My side” doesnt have anything to prove to “your side”, hombre.

Yea, from your post I can see that burning desire to convert the world to Catholicism. Keeping the Sunday my friend is heresy (if you want to use that word) and it lacks scriptural evidence. But that is what you have to keep not because **God **says, but because your tradition says so 😉
Hogwash. Tell me the history of your denomination please.
Dude I dont even care about the history of my denomination, I could live on a deserted island and if I`d have the Bible only for me that would be enough.

That Koresh guy was kicked out of the SDA church because he was a freak. He`s got nothing to do with them.

Thank you jmcrae, for the facts on the origins of the SDA faith.

I was also unaware of the Branch off faith Branch Davidians coming from the SDA faith.

As I stated earlier, the non-liturgical forms of protestantism which also are older faiths, hold far less heresy. IOW, the farther away from Catholicism, the more heresy the faith will have. I know this sounds offensive to the non-Catholic ear, but a cursory study will reveal this.

:rotfl:

You should have said something like “the further away from Jesus Christ…”, that would have been much better 😉

You are half correct. Not only do they not have anything to prove, they are unable to do so. And, I am a woman, therefore not an “hombre” and I do not speak spanish.

I cant convert anyone to Catholicism. The Holy Spirit does that. I tend to stick to speaking about the Catholic faith and its truth.
Corprorate worship on a Sunday is not heresy as Rome has spoken, case closed. Your denomination has no power or authority to declare heresy.
I keep the Tradition with a capital T and the traditions with a lower case t of the Catholic Church as they are both, superior to any other.

I am going to guess you are very young by addressing anyone as “dude”. Of course this gives me much hope that your eyes will be opened in time, I pray before its too late.

And I would like to see what you would end up believing if your deserted island story really did happen.
