Could the seven mountains refer to the actual seven churches, that is, the church to whom John sends the letters?

THANKS!!!

How do the candlesticks and lamps fit together?

THANKS!!!
It depends on which bible you are reading.

This is the secret meaning of the seven stars you saw in my right hand, and of the seven gold lampstands: the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches. (Rev 1:20 NAB)

The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches. (Rev 1:20 KJV)

Peace,

Ryan 🙂

The Greek word is λυχνια which can be translated either candle stick or lampstand. Same thing.

Please forgive me for asking more questions.

In chapter six, the four horse riders–Is that Jesus Christ?

Is it Christ on each of the four horses?

COPLAND3, I always enjoy your presentation of the Fathers and Doctors.

Oneil, you really know this book, thanks!

6:2 And I saw: and behold a white horse: The white horse is the Church. Since the Lord presides over the Church, She is made whiter than snow by grace.

***and he that sat on him: ***The rider is Christ.

6:4 And there went out another horse that was red: The “red horse” is symbolic of the shedding of blood of those who suffer for Christ.

and to him that sat thereon: For its rider is the Devil.

**6:5 **And behold a black horse: The black horse represents judgment (Job 3:5), sorrow and grief (Jeremiah 8:21 KJV), now that the destruction of the Devil had been achieved by the divine instructions. On this account the Devil is grieving for his release, which has been postponed for so many ages.

***and he that sat on him had a pair of scales in his hand: ***The scales are the symbol of justice and righteousness. The scales are the symbol of the righteous judgment of the Lord on our behalf.

**6:8 **And behold a pale horse: The pale horse represents disease (Leviticus 13:49; 14:37), and heresy is a spiritual disease that spreads and infects many.

and he that sat upon him, his name was Death, and hell followed him: Death and Hell designates the Devil and the whole company of his angels, for he is the author of death and the pains of Hell. The Devil starts the heresies, and many, who are called heretics, follow the Devil’s schemes that lead people down the road to Hell, because eternal punishment follows those who here are spiritually dead.

my interpretation:

first seal/first horseman: World War 3
second seal/horseman: severe worldwide civil disorder and violence
third seal/horseman: a great famine, even in wealthy developed nations
fourth seal/horseman: widespread death from a variety of causes

White horse:
Christ armed with the conquering Truth He proclaims.
Red horse: signifies war.
Black horse: signifies famine
Pale Horse: signifies death

First fulfillment: Luke 21:9-16

Peace,

Ryan 🙂

Thanks to all of you for your help.

In chapter 13: 18, to which beast does this verse belong?

Or, which beast does this verse describe?

THANKS!

The sea beast is the Roman Empire, who will trample do the 42 month trampling in (11:2)

The Jewish people always described themselves as the land and others as the sea.

Peace,

Ryan 🙂

Is apocalyptic writing the explanation of the physical destruction?

Let me try again: Is apoclyptic writing the spiritual explanation of the physical history?

Could the spiritual “history” be written boefore, during or after the physical history?

Please note, this is a question. If I just crossed over to false teaching, I will repent!

THANKS!!!

I feel it is safe to say that it describes the heavenly reality and the physical reality. There are a number of layers and I’ve only began to understand and explore them. (so I’m only sharing what I’ve gathered so far)

For example, we see imagery of Christ proclaiming judgement in heaven in one vision, and then we see the outcome on earth from the perspective of the judged.

So in a literal (literary) sense we first look to Christ judgement of the the Temple, how it relates our individual judgement, and to the judgement of the world at the end of time.

I don’t know if I understand the question properly, but I’ll take a shot at it. The historical setting concerning 666, for example, applies to Nero. Now people debate wheter St. John wrote prophetically before of after these events took place. Others think it could have been written by his followers after his death. The same debate surrounds the parallel material in Daniel.

I personally believe St. John wrote it before the destruction of the Temple. Here is where I have to be real cafefull with my language. Even if it was written after the fact, the book of Revelation makes sense of events for people asking “How do my life’s experiences fit in with the heavenly reality and eschatology”? Because, ultimately Revelation is about Christ’s second coming at the end of time.

It is a lesson that Christ is faithfull to his followers even when they are martyred and He exacts justice to his enemies. The final outcome is eternal life or eternal damnation. So regardless of when Revelation was written in relation to 70 A.D. the message applies the same. If it was written before and really is prophecy we can say Christ lived up to his word, and we can be assured that he will do the same with us.

If it was written after, we can use the imagery as a lesson or example. The Temples destruction is used as an example to describe the end of the world. (also our individual life) If we act a certain way we can expect a certain outcome. It helps make sense of living a virtuous life in the face of temptation and persecution. Even if we die before Christ’s return, we will be raised up on the last day and come with Him.

That is close to the limit of my understaning. I don’t know if that even came close to answering your question.

Peace,

Ryan 🙂

Thanks, Ryan

Two points, I think that the spiritual defeat of Satan came at death and resurrection of Jesus.

Does the Book of Revelation records this is apocalyptic writing?

Then, also, does the Book of Revelation record the spiritual and physical fall of Jerusalem?

Two: When Moses records that creation and fall, is this recording the spiritual realities of the fall in physical symbols?

Thanks!!!

Thanks, Ryan

Rev 12:5-12

She gave birth to a son, a male child, destined to rule all the nations with an iron rod. Her child was caught up to God and his throne.
Then, also, does the Book of Revelation record the spiritual and physical fall of Jerusalem?
Yes. the bulk of chapters 4-19

I would say yes, but I can’t say for sure.

O’Neil, thanks!!!

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come (Rev.4; 8).

This kind of statement is said several times in Revelation.

In the Greek, “was” and “is”, do they refer to come?

Is it saying, He has come?

Is it saying, He is here now?

Is it saying, He is going later, too?

Is this saying: God is always with us?

Is this saying in English that God is always withus:past, present and future?

How many kings came from Herod’s line?

Where the ten city of the land of Israel the ten kings of the Book of Revelation?

O’Neil

The idea behind the questions: I am looking for a Biblical answer for the ten kings in the Book of Revelation.

Decapolis: A ten-city Greco-Roman federation, or league, occupying all of Bashan and Gilead in northeastern Palestine.

King Herod had children that were also kings: How many of the Herodians werer kings?

I do not have a set passage for such question. Again, I am hoping to find biblical answers for the symbols in the Book of Revelation.

I hope I made a little more sense, sorry.

Also, how many high priest of the Jewish people were leaders, that is, king in a sense.

Thanks for all of your help…

The city of Jerusalem today is the same city the Lord Jesus Christ will come back to and restore and rule and reign from. Old testament messianic/end times prophecy speaks volumes of this. The city is in slavery now until the King comes, who Jesus of Nazerath.

So again, I would not delight in the current state of Jerusalem and its future treatment by the world before the King comes back.

Jesus is clearly coming back to Jerusalem----not Rome, Canterbury, the bible belt, Utah, etc.
