Racism in a Classist America

This just goes to show that the uber-leftists are more concerned with protecting groups of people than the group members are themselves, that is, if “concerned” is the appropriate word. The result is that everyone is forced to walk on eggshells and worry whether they are offending people who are, probably for the most part, not even offended. There is something wrong with this picture.

Below news is shocking

A constant flow from African and Central American countries of migrants is heading for the United States, the home of the worst systemic racism in the world ever.

What are they thinking? We asked some ivory tower white liberals to explain it to everyone.

“The United States invented racism and slavery. Everyone knows that,” Sallie Saskwatch from Berkeley, CA said. “They’re minorities risking everything they have to come to the United States because minorities have it so bad here.”

Every day, thousands give up their safe space of their home country where they are part of an ethnic majority to come to America so that they can be systematically persecuted by white supremacists every day.

“People of color are horribly oppressed here–more than anywhere else in the world. They’re only coming here because they feel so impassioned about our cause that they want to stand shoulder to shoulder with all of these white privileged Black Lives Matter protesters.”

“Refugees from Africa and Asia are making their way to the United States in record numbers, obviously because they are gluttons for abuse. They want to be oppressed because they will be completely marginalized in this country, duh,” Saskwatch said.

“They will give you food and shelter and health care and an education and you’ll probably get a scholarship to attend an Ivy League school for free so that you can complain about how bad you have it! It will be horrible. That’s how much they care about this cause,” Saskwatch added.

Regarding English use that is marked by proper grammar, pronunciations, etc. – isn’t that called standard English? I guess it’s racist now – I saw a meme that said if I don’t accept “AAVE” ( African American Vernacular English) then I’m a racist.
Hmmm…

It is difficult to sort through what is due to a mixture of languages (e.g. Creole, particularly in Louisiana) and what is simply a matter of education, or lack of education. And I don’t presume to sort out why it is particular to African Americans and (since the topic involves racism) an apparent lack of similar vernacular exhibited by Hispanics, or Japanese, or Vietnamese, or Chinese, or people from India, or Pakistan, or any of the Arabic countries.

Well, for an exam I had to study a little bit of linguistics. There is Standard American English, which is what you generally see on tv. There is also Standard British English in England and that is also what you see on tv. However, having lived in London for a period of time the English spoken by many in England is a dialect that is sometimes rough to decipher for a newcomer to the country. There is even a very rough insider version in England called cockeyed English. According to linguistics, part of language is a sense of belonging to a particular group. Again, in America different regions have their own regional dialects from New England to the South.

But, like I was saying in my first post, this will generally not be presented on tv or even movies. Both provide a limited view of America. I don’t watch tv, but the world tv presents of real life America is far different than the America in real life. I tend to see tv and movies as a form of social control dictating to naive Americans what life is supposed to be like rather than addressing what life is.
