I take it this is a heterodoxal movement not sanctioned or approved by the Church?

OH yeah! Big time. This group totally defies Catholic teaching and Biblical theology. The movement is about pride, not humility. The sad part is that their forum of choice is Mass! Courage, on the other hand, is about humility, about serving Christ and hearing his call. Don’t confuse Courage with the Rainbow Sash Movement.

They are the reason I am leaving Protestantism…geesh it makes me so angry they would use Mass too. But since the Church teaches the Truth, we won’t have to worry about them having any effect of our Magasterium. Praise God!

Amen. And welcome. Your attitude is definitely in the right place.

I would encourage anyone: Don’t let these folks get you down. The truth will not change. They have access to the truth, and it is their choice to disregard it. Pray very hard for these tormented souls.

Will these goons actually be wearing rainbow sashes?

What a bunch of nuts. :whacky: I thought gays were supposed to have good fashion sense. :ehh:

Welcome, my brother! Got any friends?

That article is just a con job and a slander against Benedict XVI.

Get out your rosaries and prayer books! Prepare to fast and pray as never before. Arm yourselves for battle with the helmet of salvation!

Pray for Pope Benedict that he will have the strength to deal with all he has to face. And I suggest that we all shower him with cards and letters to let him know that we are on his side and praying for him. I’ve seen so many articles already attacking him. He’s old and didn’t want this, but somehow God chose him to do battle with sin. But he doesn’t have to do it alone, because we are all here to battle with him.

The homosexuals and other radicals seem to think that the pope can change the moral law! They had been hoping that the pope after John Paul II would endorse them in their sin, and they got Cardinal Ratzinger! They’re angry, and the claws are coming out. Pray for him and for the Church.

Agreed! I even sent them an email and reviled them top to bottom which I think they richly deserve.

I believe people wearing sashings are not to receive communion. Is that correct?

In the weeks since the death of Pope John Paul II, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger was elected Pope Benedict XVI. For many gay men and lesbians the name Joseph Ratzinger means aggressive homophobe. He authored the following anti GLBT documents

Exactly how is one an “aggressive homophobe”? The Pope is aggressively afraid of homosexual persons? Does he shout derogatory comments to them in a disguised voice from the closet?

:rotfl:That was good!

The way they talk, it sounds like they don’t attend church regularly - they’re just planning on going in on May 15th? What is that all about? Are the Catholics, or just protestors?

I hope none of them come to my church. By the way, are priests informed not to give Communion to these sash people? I remember that some were turned away from Communion at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago for wearing sashes. Has some sort of memo been sent to priests about this?

I just love how they call the Pope a “homophobe”. He’s a “homophobe” because he takes a moral stand? More relativism by unrepentant sinners - “it’s never a sin if I don’t think it is!”

Aunt Martha

Those people (Rainbow Sash) are such liars! From the press release in the yahoo link:
He authored the following anti GLBT documents:
1975 - “Declaration on Certain Questions Concerning Sexual Ethics,”
1986 - “A Letter to the Bishops of the Catholic Church on the Pastoral Care of Homosexuals” – in this statement he justified violence against GLBT people,
Now, when they say “justified violence” they are lying. I suppose they think that the document isn’t readily available on the internet so that one might check their veracity (or lack thereof)? Actual text of the letter is here, but I’d just like to highlight a small quote:
10. It is deplorable that homosexual persons have been and are the object of violent malice in speech or in action. Such treatment deserves condemnation from the Church’s pastors wherever it occurs. It reveals a kind of disregard for others which endangers the most fundamental principles of a healthy society. The intrinsic dignity of each person must always be respected in word, in action and in law.
But the proper reaction to crimes committed against homosexual persons should not be to claim that the homosexual condition is not disordered.
So they are engaged in calumny within the press release. Can any word from their mouths/fingers (spoken or written, in other words) be trusted?

Good point. I guess they don’t realize that they are “Popephobes” (sp?). 😛

I wonder if it would be proper to stage a counter demonstration…I guess not during mass…oh well

cheers

This is correct. Some rebellious and disobedient bishops/diocese do allow Holy Communion. This has been documented.

Question:

Why doesn’t His Holiness simply apply publicly the penalty of Interdict against all members or supporters of the Rainbow Sash collectively and publicly excommunicate all known leaders of the group individually? Ban them from all church property unless and until they have met privately with a Roman Catholic priest, repented of their errors, and then publicly renounced the same? (Suggestion–make them PUBLISH such renunciations, in writing, rather than allow them access to a camera or microphone, where they could immediately recant and make a scene).

Same thing against Planned Parenthood, or any other group which militates against Roman Catholic teaching. Explictly define that anyone who willfully contributes any sort of money to such groups is de facto a supporter of the same and ineligible to receive communion until they cease and desist such support? (Many people inadvertently give money to Planned Parenthood and smilar groups via United Way contributions, for example).

If need be–post a security officer at the doors of Catholic churches with photographic registries of local persons known to be members of such groups, so that the officer can turn them away from the premises? Constantly affirm via official Church spokespeople, that when people identify themselves as ‘dissident Catholics’ that such people are either dissidents, and hence automatically excommunicants from the Roman Catholic Church; or they are Roman Catholics; but that they cannot be both at the same time?

Once strong action has been consistently taken to exclude such groups from any sort of participation in the Church, they will swiftly cease to be useful idiots for the grist mills of the mass media, and they will sink into permanent obscurity as the Liberation Theology groups did in the 1980’s.
