Ah but that doctrine was hammered out and fought for by the Catholic Church with the aid of Sacred Tradition!

That’s how I would have answered, too. (Council of Chalcedon, 451 AD., as found on page 60-61 of Denzinger’s The Sources of Catholic Dogma [Loreto Press])

Yes it was. And for Ralphy to admit that would mean that he is depending on Sacred Tradition for determining what is correct doctrine.

However, there are many more points of doctrine that flow from this. We all agree that Jesus is fully God and fully man. But what must be established is whether Jesus is a human person or not.

Jesus was a really Living breathing Person, just like you jsut like me, but without sin, Perfect and while fully man, he was Fully God. He was not a Spirit like Gnostics believe.

What I love, is Ralphy, Seems to ignore people, that Challange him and brush us aside like we never said anything. Ralphy ain’t gonna change. he does not believe in God or His word. Because God said “Be prepared to give all men an answer for the Hope that you have” and he ignores most of us, You either Believe all of the word or you Don’t. Since he doesn’t, the bible also says, “To those who do not Believe, no explanation will suffice.”

WE love ya Ralphy, But you got to accept the word of God and not read into it, but accept what Jesus/God said 100% no ifs ands or Buts. all or nothing.

It is a shame in today’s world when the Bible becomes an Idol to Someone. That is what happened here. Ralphy, has made the word of God an idol. here is how. The word of God is More Precious then gold or silver. it sharper then any two edged sword able to rend soul from flesh. It is God, (John 1:1) and as such the Bible should treated with just as much respect as the Eucharist. Not to be thrown around. Not be shelved with Other books, but have a shelf all to it’s own. It is God’s Love letter to us. His Instruction manual. It is should be so valued that you would die to have one. And in some countries it is a crime to own one. How ralphy has turned into an idol is that he has no respect for it. He has lowered it to, just another book. he does not study it thoroughly the way Jesus said to. He does not treat it as God Speaking Straight to him. He treats it like just a little book. When you take something that is so precious and throw it around. You don’t respect it. it just another book. And when you debase the work of God and bring it down to equal “other” books, you raise other things and people over it. Thus the bible becomes a gateway to idolatry, because you do not hold it in the same respect as you hold Jesus. John 1:1 says “In the Begining there was the word, the word was with God, the Word was God.” since then, the word became flesh and since God and Jesus are the same person, the Bible is Jesus. God, Bible, Jesus, Holy Spirit, all the same thing. So when you disrespect the bible, which you do here Ralphy, You disrespect Jesus.

Ralphy… Here is a command i give you as a brother in Christ. I challenge you. ( and in other older nations, when some one challenges you and you do not answer, you are a coward and are thrown out of the respectful circles and cast out.) Read God’s word fully in its entirety with out cherry picking verses out that seem to fit you, and read God’s word for what it says and not for what you think it says. IT will go well with your soul to do so.
 
Ralphy is hiding and if you all noticed, he left us to debate the issues he will not answer. Thats slick…:whacky:

Thanks for your reply. But that still does answer the question as to whether Jesus is a human person or not.

An answer please. Is it “a” or “b”?

Is Jesus a human person or not?

When you are ready to answer the question please let us all know how you arrived at your answer.

For instance:
a) Did you have to ask someone for the answer?
b) Did you receive a personal revelation from God?
c) Did you have to look it up somewhere?
d) Did you flip a coin?
 
I hate to say this, but I don’t think ralphy’s coming back, and I’d be pretty surprised if he did. I think he didn’t realize how many of us bible quotin’ Catholics there are, and we were all over him like a pack of wild dogs on a three legged cat. I pray that he finds the truth.

It could be that he had something to do other than send notes on the internet. He’s only been disengaged for like 12 hours. It could also be that he needs to retrench and re-evaluate. That could be a good thing.

Maybe he’s taken some advice from here and has set out to actually read the bible for himself.
Let’s all hope and pray for this.
Please … take 10 seconds to pray for this exact thing for Ralphy.

I am not as optimistic. Ralphy appeared at about the same time Howie did and I think we have a troll playing with his sock-puppet and one or the other has simply gotten tired and fatigued at playing with himself… 😉

I view this as something more like an exorcism than I do apologetic work…
