We could both point each other to countless testimonials from Catholics becoming Protestants and Protestants becoming Catholics. But, ultimately, what is the point of that? There are Christians who become Muslims. …

It is painful to refute GotQ because He does appear to see the obvious. He seems to equate all conversions as equal. Almost all Catholics who convert to Protestant or whatever do NOT show a deep understanding of Catholicism. Actually, they seem to have only a superficial understanding or practice. And their conversion, almost always “enables” them to live a more pleasurable - read selfish - lifestyle. They can then “justify” their second marriage, abortion, or whatever. Or, in some cases, they have an axe to grind against someone in the Catholic Church that they did not get along with. Big families are always going to have some family “issues.”
Contrast that with the Protestant ministers who converted to Catholicism.
They have much gratitude for their Protestant upbringing where they were brought to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ in their youth. They show in their stories how they had a deep understanding of Protestantism. And they usually show that their biggest obstacles to conversion were their misunderstanding of Catholicism. They had previously only examined Catholicism through the eyes of other Protestants.
These misunderstandings disappear when they start reading Catholic explanations for what Catholics believe. Their conversion to Catholicism leads them to a deeper and more profound love for Jesus- God the Son- and God the Holy Spirit and God the Father, the Blessed Trinity. With this deeper love they gladly die more deeply to themselves with a greater sacrifice for His Glory as opposed to a conversion to Protestantism that “enables” a person to “justify” whatever sin or new marriage that suits their fancy.
This conversion to Catholicism will sometimes mean that they will suffer the loss of Protestant friends who now will reject them. And yet in-spite of this suffering, they are glad to embrace the love of Jesus in the profound way that Catholicism enables them to do so. And their conversion stories show how the Bible led them to convert to Catholicism. And, unlike Catholics who convert to Protestantism and demonstrate that they only understand the Protestant way of interpreting the Bible, these now Catholic and former Protestants show that they clearly understand both ways of looking at the Bible, and why each believes as they do.
Clearly, all conversions are not equal.
