I think the point is that even s post-menopausal woman may engage sexually as one would expect by the nature of woman. Her sexual acts are ordered toward their natural end quite regardless of “sterility” or not. The final capacity to be pregnant is not the key.
If it is a cognition issue, then that pretty much undermines the whole “those body parts were meant for that” argument, not to mention the whole “natural law” argument. It turns out animals, humans included, have same sex sexual contact.

Whatever you ascribe it to, the fact is that Western society’s view on homosexuality has shifting significantly in the last half century. The Church, like all other objectors, will at least have to accept that, though I have no expectation, or even desire, that it change its own opinions on the matter. I, in fact, even object to the idea of cake decorators being forced to put messages on their cakes that violate their own religious consciences.
