I, in fact, even object to the idea of cake decorators being forced to put messages on their cakes that violate their own religious consciences.
That is a position of some integrity. However, some seem to think because the state has legislated SSM, it must be good, therefore there can be no valid basis for conscience to object. This is one example of the consequences of SSM. We (have seen and) will see others, eg in education.

I can only say that the Church notices things regarding certain entities changing laws. Western society has been poisoned, gradually, since 1970. Drop by drop. The dysfunctional has become the common theme on too many TV shows. I encourage people to turn off the TV or to throw it out. Do your own research regarding any changes. Fortunately, I know people where nothing has changed in their day to day lives over the last 40 years. They don’t belong to some new version of Western society. I don’t.

Okay, I digress. But do you not think your statement that sex is used for stress relief as kind of absurd? Is this what your partner is used for?

Animal behavior is opportunistic and instinctive. Is your argument - humans have no self control?
No, my argument is that homosexual behaviors are natural, and that all these attempts to declare it unnatural are clearly wrong. From that stems the argument that claims about “natural law” are rubbish.

So Homosexual behavior is healthy?

Really? I read LGBT news. I read about groups classified as “hate groups.” I read about other threats to gay rights. But the average person does not read about it. The mass media is an accomplice to the normalization. That’s what most people see. So, in general, I tell people: Don’t get spoon-fed by the media. Do your research. Get facts from both sides, because there are two sides.

Because we have forgotten what real marriage is. Absent that standard, anything goes.

We have yet to see the long term effects on society.

In any case it does not fit the definition of real marriage.

What natural purpose is served by the exchange of semen from one man to another? Does it appear to you that there might be a natural venue for the reception of semen? It would appear to me that that venue is nowhere on the person of another man.

Homosexual acts are not natural, but rather consistent with desired some people experience. It is that simple.

So train the cops to ignore reality? Suppose I claim to be the police chief?

I agree that some have gone too far, though it’s tricky ground. Most people long ago accepted the notion that, at least for race and gender, the state has the right to enforce certain conduct on business, so I can sympathize with the notion that sexual orientation become a protected class in that regard. But I still feel that religious liberties have to protect even what I might view as unsavory applications of it. I don’t personally approve of bakers refusing to decorate cakes for gay couples, but I simply cannot accept that forcing them to do so is helpful either, and it certainly doesn’t advance the cause of equity. Freedom of conscience, as you might be able to tell, is to me one of the most important freedom.

I wonder how those who believe bakers should be forced to make wedding cakes for gay couples would feel if a Neo-nazi walked in the door and wanted the same baker to put swastikas on a cake. In both cases, the gay couple and the Nazi are both simply invoking constitutionally-protected rights, but I doubt there are going to be many people outraged if the baker refuses the Nazi’s request.

So this really comes down to a delicate question of balancing liberties against one another. If it’s a restaurant owner refusing to serve a gay couple, then yes, I have a problem. If it’s a sign maker that refuses to make a gay pride banner, then I believe that’s the sign makers right. Does that make sense?

The Catholic Church is made of people. Many are elected and have made laws you obey.

At least so far as bonobos go, the research suggests that same-sex activity is used as either a means of bonding or of peacemaking. But really, does it have to have a purpose at all? Why is that important?

And providing those laws have an actual rational secular backing I can accept them. I’m not saying Catholics shouldnt’ be politicians, I’m saying they shouldn’t be using their legislative powers to impose their religious beliefs.

What? Methinks you are out of touch. This was put into law by activist judges. It was not legislated.

And it turns out that those judges have the backing of at least 60% of Americans. And really, this is a silly complaint. The Supreme Court gains its powers and legitimacy from the Constitution. “Activist judge” really means “judges who don’t agree with me.”
