Host desecration has been associated with groups identified as inimical to Christianity. It is a common belief that desecration of the host is part of Satanic practice, especially the Black Mass. The modern Church of Satan regards Christian doctrine as false, and does not desecrate the host in most rituals. LaVeyan Satanists do not typically perform Black Mass as a regular ritual, though “Le Messe Noir” from Anton LaVey’s work The Satanic Rituals does include some elements.

Since the publication of a document called Memoriale Domine in 1969,[5] the Apolistic See of the Catholic Church has allowed certain countries to allow communicants to receive the Host in the hand, rather than directly onto the tongue, reviving an “ancient custom”.[5] Communion in the hand is now widespread in many parts of the world. The practice means that access to consecrated Hosts is easier than in the past, since the person receiving it in the hand may pretend to place it in their mouth for consumption. However, recent statements and practices of Pope Benedict XVI[citation needed] have caused a recent shift in Catholic practice of receiving on the tongue while kneeling, which is also an ancient practice.

Ok I have the guidlines here before me , have tried to read them in a hurry and see no where does it say not to give or receive the Host in your hand. So what else do you want to know?🤷

I and others have shared plenty of references and “arguments”, you just choose to ignore or dismiss them.
Gosh, I must have missed them. In the spirit of Christian charity, could you please repeat them. Unless they include: "it’s in the GIRM, or “the earliest Christians received CITH (make your hand a throne)” then I must have missed your sound theological arguments for CITH other than egotistical personal preference.

92.] Although each of the faithful always has the right to receive Holy Communion on the tongue, at his choice,[178] if any communicant should wish to receive the Sacrament in the hand, in areas where the Bishops’ Conference with the recognitio of the Apostolic See has given permission, the sacred host is to be administered to him or her. However, special care should be taken to ensure that the host is consumed by the communicant in the presence of the minister, so that no one goes away carrying the Eucharistic species in his hand. If there is a risk of profanation, then Holy Communion should not be given in the hand to the faithful.[179]

Distribution of the Body and Blood of the Lord
41. Holy Communion under the form of bread is offered to the communicant with the words “The Body of Christ.” The communicant may choose whether to receive the Body of Christ in the hand or on the tongue. When receiving in the hand, the communicant should be guided by the words of St. Cyril of Jerusalem: “When you approach, take care not to do so with your hand stretched out and your fingers open or apart, but rather place your left hand as a throne beneath your right, as befits one who is about to receive the King. Then receive him, taking care that nothing is lost.” (51)

Cite the guidelines (for the umpteenth time).

I would have to type till Jesus comes again to give them all to you and that I am not going to do. So for the umpteen time why are you so rude? I told you I have read them and if thats not enough then too bad.God Bless you sir in you search.

No, I’m not going to go back and reread everything and point out what you missed. That’s your choice and responsibility. If it’s important to you, then do it, if not, then carry on.

By the way, you only emphasize my point that you dismiss other people’s “arguments” and positions, references, etc. The fact that the Church allows it and it was practiced in the earlier Church ARE sound theological arguments. We can differ on how valid or important they are, but it’s really not fair to simply dismiss them as you seem to do (correct me if I’m wrong here). And, you also reinforce my unfortunate observation, the point that you seem to resort to ad hominem attacks when people’s questions are ones you choose not to consider or respond to (are all personal preferences “egotistical” or just ones that don’t agree with your personal preferences?).

Give me a break. Are you praying for me? For everyone? I’m just being honest. The context of that remark went like this: I said I was praying for patience, Digger thanked me for praying for him, I let him know that in fact I’m not praying specifically for him. Where’s the crime?

Honestly, do you people read beyond the latest post? It would explain a few things.

Bring a solid argument to this thread or find someplace else to blow the Progressive wind.
Yes, I am praying for you. Yes, I pray for all those who participate on this site. Honestly, yes I do read beyond the latest post. Your comments strike me as unkind, to say the least, and certainly undermine your arguments that receiving communion on the tongue somehow makes one more reverent.

A Bishop Speaks out : The auxiliary bishop of Karaganda in Kazakhstan, Anthanasius Schneider on the reception of Holy Communion.

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

Who are those people on the cover, and what are they doing ?

Got a few minutes ? Watch, listen, and learn why we must return to receiving Our Lord in the proper manner.

I receive the Lord in the proper manner nearly every morning-why would I need a video to show me how to do it?

Good for Kazakhstan! What about in Kentucky? Isn’t the norm there, as approved by the Vatican, to allow the communicant to receive either on the tongue or in the hand? What does YOUR Bishop say?

Yes, one can receive either way. But in some churches, you would be frowned on for kneeling. At the diocesan TLM’s we receive kneeling at the rail.

There is a lot of talk about suppressing COTH in Rome evidently. Nothing confirmed yet, but you know me. I’ll post it when it happens. 😉

Well, it could be understandable to be “frowned on” for kneeling as the Bishops have taught that the normal posture for receiving communion is standing. I mean, given that, some might think those who choose to kneel (at Mass in the Ordinary Form) are putting their preferences over the teaching of the Bishops and disobeying Church teaching.

I’ve heard the rumors too about Rome and COTH. We’ll see.

We work around it by genuflecting at the front pew before approaching the Blessed Sacrament. The priests at my home parish don’t mind that. And I’ve seen folks do it before receiving from the Archbishop, so obviously he doesn’t mind either.

I’m intrigued by your comment that you (we) “work around it” – work around what? Church teaching? The authority of the Bishop? I’m not clear what you mean.

Also, just because a presider (whether priest or bishop) does not correct something an individual does in a given liturgy should not be construed as blanket approval. There’s more important things to worry about in liturgy than whether or not each and every person is following each and every rubric (and I in no way am minimizing the importance of rubrics by that comment).
