Seriously, that’s wonderful. I can’t stand cookie cutter political thinking.

I myself am a Progressive/Liberal who supports the 2nd Amendment. In fact, I support open carry. 👍
Apparently some supporters of the 2nd amendment support open season on the unborn too. As Catholics, we are supposed to oppose abortion. Even if you are not Catholic, you ought to respect this view on a Catholic forum.

This is something that the Supreme Court has decided. I doubt that either Romney or McCain would have stopped all abortions.
Tomdstone, that is a false claim you’re making. No one here who is pro-life (and admittedly not all are pro-life) has made the claim that Romney would have eliminated all abortions. The question is, why did you feel it necessary to distort the positions of those pro-lifers with whom you disagree?

I am a Catholic. I’m under no obligation to state what pleases you, and vice versa.

I don’t respect your view. I DO respect your right to hold that view.

Spare me the abortion fallback.

The Niners lost. Bring up abortion!

The sun came up this morning. Bring up abortion!

I don’t like paying taxes. Bring up abortion!

They found a weird rock on Mars. Bring up abortion!

The sun is setting. Bring up abortion!

That really IS how angry moralistic busybodies look to the world, the world we’re supposed to be loving by sharing the Gospel. They trivialize the very thing they hate by their irrational fallbacks to abortion as a reply to anything they don’t like. If they’d stop making themselves look ridiculous “Mini Me Bachmanns”, the “Pro-life” (Yeah, hello) movement would have overturned Roe already. Food for thought…

PS: I’m not the only Librul here.

Distort? Oh, puh-leeze. If I had a penny for every time someone here went off on a tangent by picking one word and using it as a diversion instead of addressing what I wrote, I’d be richer than 'ol Mitt.

I’m not alone in that, either.

To make the claim that pro-life Catholics expected Romney to stop all abortions is a distortion and a straw man. I was responding to Tomdstone, not you. You are the one going off on a tangent rather than addressing my point.

Apparently some would like the abortion issue to just go away so that they can go on their merry way. How inconvenient the killing of the unborn is for some. I assure you, Re-converted, I will never get complacent about abortion, and will always speak up for justice for the unborn and for the sanctity of life. Sorry if that bothers you.

That was NOT the point I was making. You just proved my point about tangents, BTW. 😃

GOOD! Speak up all you want! Please DO. My POINT was that you’re NOT doing the unborn any favors by looking foolish because you don’t want to refine the way you present your case, that’s all.

I really do think you need a remedial course in reading comprehension, and you’ve made my case concerning tangents yet again. While I’d like to discuss this more, family calls.

God bless you! :byzsoc:

I was just responding to your (now deleted) post. Not a tangent - in fact I didn’t bring up the abortion issue. That said any discussion of the two parties from a Catholic perspective would have to bring up the subject of abortion. It is one of the most important issues of our time if not the most. But of course I am speaking from a Catholic perspective.

I think catholic democrats need to better understand how anti life the democrat party is. I mean, talk about not being able to comprehend the obvious.

Ishii

Which makes you wonder why anyone would vote for either party?
That’s why I vote third party.

The only thing going for the Democrats is they accuse Republicans of trying to take welfare away. Both parties want welfare in one form or another.

I think the GOP needs to stop ripping off the populace for their own personal gain.
Quite a broad statement and lacking support. Remember the Democrat party is the party of higher taxes. The Democrat party is the party of bigger government. The government does not create any wealth, it simply takes resources from one group and distributes it to another.

As to who has benefitted from Obama’s regime, the “1%” apparently received something like 90% of the results of the stimulus program voted in by the Democrats. The money, billions of tax dollars paid by middle class people like me were redistributed to Obama’s donors and bundlers. America has seen median income DECREASE in the past five years.

Who’z zoomin who here Cricket? The RICH are doing VERY WELL under Obama. Look at the market, look at the profits of the investment and banking corporations. The middle class and working class are getting hosed. Obamacare is not hurting the rich, it’s hurting the middle and working classes who are paying much more for heathcare. And that’s the result of Obama and the Democrats.

Well stated, Lisa - the only thing I would add is that the Democrats say they are for the little guy, but as you state, they are no better than what they claim the GOP is.

I think there ARE well meaning and sincere politicians on both sides but they seem to be swept up into beltway fever and lose many of their convictions. Again the more power we give them, in the power to tax and regulate, the less power, the fewer resources and the less FREEDOM we have. Whichever party helps to dismantle the government behemoth is going to be my party. I think we’re seeing a more Libertarian streak in America. I wish they were not so laissez faire about social issues. I could support their approach to reducing government influence in our lives.
