Red, Blue, separation of church and state, who did you vote for and why? Are you opposed to making our country a Christian theocracy? What do you think of the Tea Party movement, or the right wing conservative Republican agenda?

Let’s put it this way. I believe the HHS mandate is unconstitutional under the 1st amendment. I believe the ACA is unconstitutional under Article 1, Section 8, and the 10th Amendment.
I favor the constitutional representative republic that America once was, but is slowly disappearing into the tyranny of democracy.

I voted for Romney, but I am a moderate Republican more along the lines of Eisenhower and Nixon, less like the Bushes.

I am opposed to the US becoming a “christian” theocracy and the Tea Party as well.

Not all Republicans are ultra right as is hinted.

Allowing Christian thought and moral teachings to inform our politics is not a “theocracy”. It would amount to true tolerance and diversity. Whatever happened to tolerance and diversity?

I voted in favor of human life. Period. What else matters?

I could not vote for human life, since I did not believe either candidate would actually do anything to stop abortion. I refuse to be made a fool of any more by the GOP by telling me they are pro-life to get my vote, then not doing anything significant about it time and time again.

I have also been strongly discouraged by the anti-science and anti-intellectual movement which has been popular in the GOP lately.

However, I cannot bring myself to vote democrat, due to the massive defects they support.

So I vote Libertarian.

Actually, that’s exactly what a theocracy is. Using the beliefs of a religion to make laws is literally exactly how a theocracy works.

Tolerance would be more along the lines of

“I may not agree with “X”, and I will continue to tell you it is wrong, but I will support your right to do it”

FYI political topics are only allowed in the World News sub forum of the In The News category.

Oh, I thought that’s where this was. Just saw it on the left, paid no attention to the category. Yes, it should be moved by a mod.

So I vote Libertarian.
I’m a Libertarian supporter as well! Unfortunately I really disliked their candidate this year, as he was pro-abortion, pro-gay “marriage”, and favored the legalization of Marijuana.

I, like many High Schoolers and young college students, supported Ron Paul.

I am a very hard voter to please. I am against abortion, against same sex marriage, but support same sex civil unions. I understand I will never find a politician who agrees with me, so I shoot for the best.

I do, however, strongly support legalizing marijuana. I have yet to hear an argument as to why it should be illegal which would not also push for alcohol or cigarettes to be illegal as well. Both are more addictive, both are just as bad for your body in the long term, and keeping marijuana illegal just makes it easier for kids to buy. Trust me, drug dealers do not ask for I.d.

Also, you need to quit paying attention to whether or not a politician is pro-life or not. It is irrelevant. What matters is if you actually think they will do anything to stop abortions from occurring. If a politician does not agree with abortion, but does nothing to stop them, he is in practice just like a pro-choice candidate. And, in my opinion, anyone who actually believed mitt Romney would have done anything to stop abortion was deluding themselves greatly.

We have some very good family friends. The Husband of our friends gave my dad an insight which made me think. The Russian revolution had the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks. He told my dad (Btw, He is a VERY Good Catholic, very faithful Catholic, 100% on ALL the Moral issues of the Church) that the Republicans are the mensheviks and want quiet revolution, whilst the deomcrats are the bolsheviks, who want open revolution. It makes sense because when you think of it, what are the Conservatives conserving? All the laws that the Deomcrats previously passed before. Now of course, this doesn’t meant that truly pro life democrats and republicans don’t exist. However, unfortunately, in the pursuit of power, most politicians are willing to throw all morality aside. Particularly obama.

Actually, not.

theocracy |θēˈäkrəsē|
noun ( pl. -cies)
a system of government in which priests rule in the name of God or a god.
• ( the Theocracy) the commonwealth of Israel from the time of Moses until the election of Saul as King.
DERIVATIVES
theocrat |ˈθēəˌkrat| noun
theocratic |θēəˈkratik| adjective
theocratically |θēəˈkratik(ə)lē| adverb
ORIGIN early 17th cent.: from Greek theokratia (see theo- , -cracy ).

“I may not agree with “X”, and I will continue to tell you it is wrong, but I will support your right to do it”
Like forcing the Church to pay for abortion and contraceptives? Does not sound like tolerance at all. Sounds like domination, or oppression.

I am a pro-life, anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage conserative Republican in liberal California. I voted for Rommey because I felt that while he wasn’t perfect, he would be the better choice. Not voting would not solve anything.

I voted for a third party. I will never vote for the Democratic Party as it currently is, and the Republican Party is simply not conservative enough for my tastes.

Connecticut is a passionately Democratic state, so my vote didn’t really matter in the end. Obama won with more than 55% of the vote this round.

This is the same conclusion that I came to.

But, since I live in a very red state, it doesn’t matter who I vote for. All electoral college votes go to the Republican candidate, every time. I predicted this year it would be 80%, it was 73%.

Same here, except that my state is reliably Democratic. I voted Libertarian, for Gary Johnson, the only one I really agreed with. But had I lived in a state that had a reasonable chance of going either way, I would have chosen Romney over Obama, though as the “lesser evil”.

I support full separation of church and state.

I voted for President Obama. I am very much against a “theocracy” of any kind. I am dead set against the incursion of religious beliefs dictating secular government policy.

The Tea Party is way too conservative form my tastes.

I voted for freedom of conscience and freedom of self determination.
