You say God does not interfere with our choices but yet your pray that enough people will vote NO. Well, they will do what they will do without Godā€™s interference; so where is the point of praying?

Thank to Moderator for taking the time out of your busy day of moderating to post this.

Also, I have been wondering, how come this thread isnā€™t in the Prayer Intentions category? That way, people wonā€™t use it as a place to dump on prolife/religious people.

We can appreciate the merits of your comment. And yet the person who posted it chose this forum. In situations like this, we have an opportunity to respond charitably with those who arenā€™t so charitable to us, which admittedly can be difficult, but with the Good Lordā€™s help possible and profitable to all concerned, we hope and pray. šŸ™‚

Obviously Willā€¦ (???)
There are two ā€œmajorā€ defenses against the ā€œproblem of evilā€. One is the ā€œfree willā€ defense which says that the ā€œfree willā€ is so important that God ā€œis compelledā€ to accept the negative side effects, the evil actions. The other one is the ā€œgreater good defenseā€, which asserts that God only allows those seemingly evil acts, which somehow lead to some greater good outcomes - if only we knew what those ā€œgreater goodsā€ might be. Of course these are mutually exclusive.

Unless you read and comprehend the article provided in my link, there is no reason to continue.

By the wayā€¦ letā€™s commiserate or celebrate the outcome of the Irish voteā€¦ whichever your preference might be.

My guess is those going to all the effort to com e from overseas are doing so to vote against abortion.I have been praying that Ireland will vote for life:pray:šŸ™šŸ™

Irish Times Voter Data by age:

18-25 : 87% yes
25-34 : 83% yes
35-49 : 74% yes
50-64 : 63% yes
65+ : 40% yes

Current tally is 68% yes to 32% no.

Is there any possible chance this could be wrong? I really thought the figures would be so close šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

In this day and age with ultrasounds verifying the heartbeat ,brain development at as early as four weeks gestation, it is saddening that anyone would be rejoicing over the right to kill nascent life .The Evil one is rejoicing for sure.

In my opinion the Church is partly to blame for this. The scandals involving the Church has led to the sentiment that the Church has betrayed the Irish people.
Itā€™s partly that. Itā€™s also that the CC has offered no - pardon the pun - viable solutions to modern era economics. The Church teaches that if an unmarried woman gets pregnant, she must carry to term and deliver, regardless of circumstance.

Back in the 1950s, she would be segregated in a motherā€™s home or laundery, required to do back breaking labor, while pregnant. Then, after delivery, her child would most likely be taken away, and basically sold to some foreign couple.

So, the Church received the benefit of her ā€œlaborā€ quite literally. Both from unpaid work and through adoption fees.

At least, she thought, her baby might be happy somewhere. But then Taum was discovered, and the truth that many young children were buried near a septic tank.

Then the sexual assaults in churches and schools.

From the Irish womanā€™s perspective, it must seem that at no point in this ā€œpro-lifeā€ process, was she or her child left unmolested, unused, and discarded. She was left emotionally scarred and socially scorned. A used woman.

Well, the hell of it is that many now figure that if the Church destroyed the lives of both women and babies, secular society can do better by at least saving the lives of women - economically and socially. Sometimes literally, as the Savita affair suggested.

The Irish Tiger of the 90s is hungry, and needs more production. The Church was a restraint against some of the worst excesses and waste (such as on-demand abortion) that is built into capitalism.

Now, Irelandā€™s capitalist society is finally free of its Catholic conscience, and has married itself to secularism, the natural, logical outgrowth of such a system.

The women will still be used and abused and many lives destroyed, through the unrelenting crush of Darwinian economics. But it will take a while before they figure that out.

Quite honestly one of the saddest outcomes of a democratic vote I have ever known.

Free people, blessed with all the western privileges imaginable, many of them young, choosing without coercion or threat or corruption, to remove the right not to be killed from other human beings.

This almost isnā€™t even about abortion, given that the 8th is a simple statement about the equal value of all people. Itā€™s a glimpse into an insidious, wicked future that awaits a western culture so hell-bent on the satisfaction of individual desire. Itā€™s a terrifying prospect.

There is a hell, and we choose it for ourselves, freely.

So true, I canā€™t stop thinking about all those that voted YES and are celebrating tonight but what about their soul? Ireland will regret this in the future that Iā€™m sure of, when the reality of what exactly people voted YES for comes to light people will turn on the government but by then it will be too late.

Many young people in their late teens or early twenties I have meet were voting YES and did not fully understand what exactly they were voting for, many thought it was the popular vote with so many celebrities in favour, I noticed tonight Leo Varadkar retweeted a tweet by Niall Horan (abit of a joke for the prime minister of Ireland to be at that) encouraging Ireland to vote YES, for me many young would have been influenced by such a high profile artist like niall especially the younger generation. They knew what they where doing.

Be like the talking mouse!

Not to mention, they had the benefit of looking at other countries who have had legalized abortion for decades and seeing the effects on society. Men having less qualms about using up women and tossing them away. Abortion being used to cover up incest.
