Our prayers are always heard, we must never give up. Our Lady said “In the end my immaculate heart will triumph”

It ended tonight at 10pm. Votes are to be counted tomorrow morning, I honestly thought it would have been very close I am finding it hard to comprehend. I hope they are wrong 🙏🙏

Obviously Will… (???)
There are two “major” defenses against the “problem of evil”. One is the “free will” defense which says that the “free will” is so important that God “is compelled” to accept the negative side effects, the evil actions.
That’s a pretty interesting word - compelled. Especially as most Christians - particularly Catholics, reject open theism which is necessitated by the idea of a god acting against its will.
I’d prefer “tolerant of in light of omniscience”. But suit yourself.
The other one is the “greater good defense”, which asserts that God only allows those seemingly evil acts, which somehow lead to some greater good outcomes - if only we knew what those “greater goods” might be. Of course these are mutually exclusive.
Sure. But I think the biggest, at least from a secular perspective, is probably simple denial of the existence of evil. As you seem to employ.
Unless you read and comprehend the article provided in my link, there is no reason to continue.
Offered as charitably as I can - just because I don’t want to submit to how your link phrases the issue doesn’t mean “there’s no reason to continue” - especially as I’ve has my own education on the topic independent of whether you want to accept that as true.

If you told a modern Voltaire that he had to discuss the topic under similarly constrained auspices, he’d probably ruefully smile and tell you to “blank off”.
By the way… let’s commiserate or celebrate the outcome of the Irish vote… whichever your preference might be.
Now that might be a reason to not continue, as it’s more consistent with the thread.

And I’m neither happy nor sad. It simply “is” to me. If God is sovereign, He continues to be. If He doesn’t exist, He continues not to. This coming change in Irish polity weighs none on that issue.

I don’t there will be a substantial uptick in abortions as most Irish women are a short drive and ferry-ride from a provider anyway. Ireland just isn’t very big and an “out” for unwillingly pregnant Irish women has been available for some time.
