so nice to see so many neighbors responding herein!

Fr Hennessy is a holy and true priest… and an excellent confessor. I was saddened to learn of his removal.

For those in the area, please do consider visiting my home parish, St Monica in Duluth. Fr Jack Durkin is an incredible homilist and holy priest. Yes, Fr Augustin Tran is now also in residence too… he is fantastic and loves us enough to speak the unpopular truth. Anyone who heard his modesty homily last month would concur! We have also been Blessed by the arrival of Fr Zahuta…freshly ordained, and full of enthusiasm and zeal. Fr Jack has joked that compared to Frs Tran and Zahuta, he is the liberal now!

For those at St Patrick’s, do not despair. Our prayers have been answered… yours will too. Visit the Blessed Sacrament in your beautiful Adoration Chapel… trust in the Lord! Fr. Hennessy will be fine. Truth is on his side

Prayers for our Catholic Church. We are in great need of holy priests.
 
Here’s the current situation re: kneeling for communtion at St. Patrick’s. The Pastor invites everyone to choose to stand or kneel, and to receive the Lord in the hand or on the tongue. He then steps several feet forward from the kneeling rail so that if you kneel, it must be on the tiled floor, effectively eliminating the option to kneel for those unable to quickly kneel and get back up without something to hold onto. He has said that if anyone goes past him to kneel on the rail, he will not give them communion. God help us.
 
I guess that about made up my mind against attending St. Patrick’s. Unbelievable. Has anyone appealed to Rome? I don’t understand such petty cruelty, I really don’t.
 
Kolbelover–thank you for the report about your parish–it sounds wonderful 🙂 What’s concerning me is that one never knows how long a particular church will stay faithful and reverent, it seems. I could go to one, like St. Patrick’s, and then a priest goes and another one comes, and all **** breaks loose. I’d heard that the frequent change of pastors in the Catholic church is to prevent us from being focused on the personality of a man and remain focused on Christ, but it seems like all the power does come from above, really. Then again, our parish reputedly once had a really holy priest and drove him off. So…is my only option the TLM? It’s so far away, and I’m really not wanting to go that direction…too many bitter people; and I don’t want to become another one!

There will be a Latin Mass on Friday evening, August 6th, at 9:00 PM at St. Andrew’s in Roswell for the First Friday/First Saturday. There will be another Latin Mass at 1:00 AM on the 7th. Details are in the current Georgia Bulletin.

But this is not the case for the 8:00 AM Latin Mass celebrated by Fr. Peek, is it?
 
Thanks for the tip on the Latin masses at St. Andrew’s. Very late times, though, indicate where it is in the order of priorities, IMO. I’ll be out of town at that time but will have to check again…really, thank you. All options are good options.

And yes, I’d forgotten about the early mass at St. Patrick’s! Are they still having it? Will they have it if Father Peek goes elsewhere. I kind of hate to get invested in a parish and then have to leave again because of really ridiculous goings on.

St. Andrew’s doesn’t have a Latin Mass, this is just for the First Friday/First Saturday devotion. Fr. Peek is still celebrating the 8:00 AM Mass, I saw him there a few weeks ago when I went to hear Fr. Euteneuer. I have no idea if they would continue the Latin Mass if Fr. Peek wasn’t able to continue there. I kind of doubt it, because there aren’t a lot of priests in this diocese who could do it.

It’s wearing on those of us who are traditionally minded not to have a parish we can embrace within driving distance 😦
 
It really is.
On the positive side, maybe St. Andrews will do the EF every First Friday/First Saturday, who knows?
 
Luvadoxi, you mentioned TLM. Can you please tell me what that stands for? I am not familiar.
 
Sorry to jump in but TLM stands for the Tridentine Latin Mass which is better known nowadays as the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite (EF).
 
Does anyone have any updates on Father Tom Hennessy? I’m praying that the Archbishop gives him a good assignment. He has done great things at all of the parishes he has been at. He has been a true blessing to our family here in Alpharetta. St. Patrick’s in Norcross was bursting at the seams because of him - and it is a disgrace what is happening there after he was forced to leave.

The Church needs more strong priests like Father Tom - and we the laity need to stand up for them when they are attacked - either from the outside of the Church or from within.

Please let us know when he is finally returned to the Atlanta archdiocese.

There are so few young people in our parish, and the ones that are there are unavailable or hiding–I know how it is; it’s all by related interests; like if you’re young parents, you meet with other young parents, etc. Younger people sort of make you feel excluded–it’s just the way of things; I remember being that way too, as if older people were some other kind of being. I guess it all comes back to bite you! It’s just kind of hard to hear people online wish all the time that people my age would just die out. I know they’re expressing frustration, but it can’t help but hurt.

Well, when I say something like “I wish these old hippies would just die already.” I’m more or less wishing for the end of their influence, I certainly don’t wish physical death on anyone.

I don’t know how old you are, but remember that old song “Talkin’ bout my generation” where they said “Hope I die before I get old” I have to laugh every time i hear that.

Speaking for myself, I feel cheated out of genuine and wholesome Catholic culture by my parents’ generation. My parents did everything they could with what they had, so I don’t blame them, but looking back my general experience of the Sacraments wasn’t too good. Communion before first confession, acoustic guitars galore, NO talking about saints or anything. We’re not trying to go for a holier then thou attitude, although it might seem like it. It’s just that we’re being good little rebellious youngsters and rebelling against our parents who brought in the acoustic guitars and clown masses.

I can also relate to the loneliness, but I always remind myself that I’m never alone because God is my father and the Saints are my brothers and sisters.
 
I know; I’ve felt the same way, even though I’m a baby boomer…
 
Have things gotten any better over at St. Patrick’s? Would love to go but hate to get pulled into any more drama…
 
I stopped by there the other day for the first time in a while. I didn’t stay but for a moment, but I did notice that the confessional in the hallway was removed. There was a long line for confession.
