Someones’ are avoiding answering this simple question for it undermines their argument?

Do you believe that any absolutely Absolute - exists?

Like… Love? or … .Truth? Goodness? Evil?

Nobody is making an argument. We’re trying to work out where you get your position from. It’s nonsensical. Nobody believes that no absolute morality means no rules. Nobody at all. I think that’s been made clear enough and you’ve made no attempt to back it up so I think we can move on. Although I do expect people to defend whatever position they have taken or to retract it if shown that they are wrong.

No. We have stated our objections and you are trying to change the topic. You are not asking for definitions. Even if you were, you would be asking for the definition of a term you yourself introduced.

If you think we’ve misrepresented the concept of “moral absolute” that you gave, state your definition and explain how it answers our objections.

I’m asking a question.

Since we’re using the term Absolute

Do you believe that any absolutely Absolute - exists?

Like… Love? or … .Truth? Goodness? Evil?

Relativism is the idea that views are relative to differences in perception and consideration.

There is no universal, objective truth according to relativism

I’ll answer it on the understanding that you have accepted that your earlier position is not now not one that you feel can be supported. On that note…

…there are absolutes. Nobody is going to deny that. But throwing out terms like love and truth etc (and especially such terms when they are capitalised) is going to get you nowhere and get you there quite quickly.

Truth statements are absolute. There is a pen on my table. That is an absolute truth. The rest…no (unless you expect me to accept that God is an example of absolute love or goodness. In which case I will agree that you believe that).

Now you are mixing absolute with objective.

There is one absolute here. I have absolutely no idea where your argument is going.

So you say…

Nonetheless it remains not only a simple question - and a question some run away from. .

I’m asking a question. And I Capitalize on your responses and/or Lack of them

Do you believe in: Love? or Truth? Goodness? Evil?

I don’t waste time debating skeptics or moral relativists, and they have nothing to teach me about reality, let alone morality.
Best just to pray for them and avoid getting involved in their circular arguments. Why bother?

BINGO.

Sometimes they need to be shown just how baseless their ‘arguments’ are…

You sure showed us, by not answering our objections.

As Shakes-Speare roughly said…

'Methinks thou protesteth much too much"… 🙂

Where on earth are you going with this? Is there anyone who denies that love exists? Or truth? You were asking about absolute love and absolute truth. I think I’ll leave you to it…

I would also like a definition of moral absolute to make sure we’re all on the same page. The laymen’s definition I usually go with is Such that for an act to be immoral it must be immoral for all moral agents in any place at any time.

The quote I gave comes from an article on Mental Reservation which has the Ecclesiastical approval. Nihil Obstat. . Remy Lafort, S.T.D., Censor. Imprimatur. +John Cardinal Farley, Archbishop of New York. Since March 2, 1679 strict mental reservation is considered to be a sin. However, as I have pointed out, mental reservation may not be a sin under certain conditions.
