mr.lapell,its my failure that i couldn’t make u understand what is the nightmare of islam.but i can suggest you.pls go to saudi or iran,live there&criticise islam with very soft language.then when they will cut u in piece then u will guess how peacefull muslims are!&how peacefull religion islam is!&if u can’t accept any translated version of quran then pls learn arabic&translate it for us.anyway i am sorry if i have talked to much.thanks

Oh, I don’t need to have a “rosy” idea about Islam to say the things i have said since I read this man Chouraqui’s book. His views seem to me very realistic. His translation was from the original, 7th century Arabic text, and he was born an Algerian Jew, quite fluent in modern Arabic given his surroundings…
Quest for power exists everywhere… no need of a sacred book there! You can use such book, though, to cover your bad deeds, especially if not everybody is aware even among the Muslims about the entirety of the Qur’an in those days! Even then there must have been many Muslims who would be quite minimal in their practice of Islam, and the true scholars in Qoranic teaching must not have been such a high percentage of the population, has it?

Please point me to the intelligent critique of Islam. There are a number of posts in this thread I find disturbing, such as deporting all “Mohammedan” immigrants. I did not report those because I do respect discourse, no matter how unsettling, I reported this because it crossed from discourse into blatant hate mongering towards an entire population.
If you feel I ever cross into such appalling behavior please do report me.

Many people just do not know the ugly truth about Islam or its prophet Mohammad. Either they do not take the time to do the research or they rely on the word of Muslims. Well, since Islam encourages lying, I would not recommend asking a Muslim. It is called al-Taqiyya. If you want to learn the truth about the religion, either do your own leg work or ask an ex Muslim.

I believe all the facts on the mainstream media. I just find them to be very limited. I also find that the interpretation that Fox News gives of this facts to be very unsettling, and un-Christian.
As proof that I delve deep into your media, I will say that I agree with Bill O’Reily when he pointed out in his book THE NO SPIN ZONE that George Bush claims Jesus as his greatest political advisor but yet he’s also famous for the record number of people executed by the state while he was governor of Texas. To O’Reily this was blatant hypocrisy because of the fact that Jesus died of the death penalty.
This was before 9/11. Since then, apparently it is okay for us to throw the Bible under the bed and forget about silly notions like WWJD? “What would Jesus do?” is about as silly as the Geneva Conventions. Both quite outdated.
I never said that. I said that it is our actions that should matter to us since this is what we have control over. A simple concept really.
Show me the part of the Gospels where Jesus taught what you have been trying to teach here. Still waiting…

Many people could claim to do atrocious things in the name of Allah and of Islam even without the need for a text preaching violence to non-Muslims, for instances. All you need to do is twisting the meaning of certain verses so as to make believe it says such a thing. Just as many people twist the meaning of various passages of the letters of saint Paul, for example. How very feasable it can be done! And it’s been done and still is done, isn’t it true?

Well, it seems that a whole heck of a lot of muslims should be told that. maybe you could start out with the wahabbi saudis, the Iranians, or how about the Egyptians and the muslim brotherhood, Hamas and Hezbollah and the Palestinians who lob bombs into Israel on a daily basis, the muslims who are slaughtering Christians in Africa, or… the list could go on. I mean, really.Right, anyone who says the Koran is violent has an improper translation.
this is a usual thing that we are told when we are not being good, little infidel dhimmi (subjugated peoples). We are told, in so many words, that we don’t know our place if we figure out the koran - by reading the thing! Why do you think so many are killed if they question the koran, or islam, or mohammed?!!? It is because they know it IS violent, it WON’T stand up to scrutiny, and it should be banned if we knew what it contained. Staying ignorant of it is a good way for muslims to carry on without us doing anything because we will be in the fog of ignorance thinking that the koran is sooooo peaceful.

Yeah, I understand that it is easy for me to talk about all these “lofty” moral values while I am here safe in the US. However, if it ever came down to a Muslim in my back yard attacking me, if I did not “turn my cheek”, but instead went against all that has been taught me, I would recognize my hypocrisy immediatly.
Jesus is the bullseye. We may not all hit it, but we should never be confused as to where it is.

And biased news reports on TV have been quite successful at twisting the meaning of quotes by Catholic bishops and even sometimes by the pope. The quote you hear from the mouth of the people they are bashing, but it’s taken out of context! And any people prone to be dissatisfied with certain things in the Catholic Church not fitting to their taste easily believe them (the false reports) then, don’t they? It’s quite easy, to a certain extent!

The title of this thread is ‘Religion of Peace?? Please explain’ I don’t know why stopping the demands, segregation, the lies and muddying of the waters of the truth of islam is a problem to you. I know why it is a problem to muslims - but you don’t claim to be one.
READ. There are plenty of books, websites, and alternative news sources that will tell you what is happening, what happened, and what it is all about. READ. You are taking time away from that activity that you might benefit from.
