I remember a discussion, not so long ago, where all democrats were lumped together through demonizing partisanship speak, in an effort to deny such a thing as pro-life democrats existed, because of their party affiliation. The effort seemed to try and portray republican politicians as above the ‘fray’ on all issues. Some posters showed being offended at certain politicians being doubted because of timely political appearing ‘flip flops.’

What will be the consensus if Ryan changes his view again, in time for the next major elections?

What is sad, is that it appears republicans are looking how to ‘soften’ on issues to attract larger voting blocs. The irony lays in which issues they are willing to make concessions on. 😦

Perhaps this is a rhetorical question; but the answer is no, because, as you undoubtedly know, there are other social issues as well as economic ones.
Correct, I don’t know too many Democrats who are “one issue” voters as Conservative Republicans seem to be.

Democrats were single issue in this last U.S. presidential campaign. It was all about the so-called “war on women”. 🙂

Those are your projections, sounds like the only one being partisan here are these words so one can claim with a needle in a haystack, there are some Democrats that are “pro-life”, who is already breaking this into an issue between parties? You are. Most of us care just about the Catholic principle about the Sanctity of life.

Planned Parenthood remains funded. I would doubt much more anyone who without backup criticizing others with a record of defunding Planned Parenthood. I would not only doubt them but see them as a partner in the deaths that occur at planned parenthood, proponent of infanticide, a place where women born alive have died.

You talk of flip flops to assert you have some sort of knowledge and morality above others.

President Obama was once pro-traditional marriage, I suppose we should still take him at his word then, shouldn’t we? Oh, but we will never ever never hear about that! Talking about partisanship again!

Oh, and a thread where Pro-Lifer Paul Ryan who as a matter of record has said he believes life begins at conception, we will have to hear some people’s arguments against defunding infanticide proponent, largest abortion provider in the USA, planned parenthood.

And then, funny enough, we are going to hear claims that after all, some democrats are pro-life. Figures! :(😦

I recall the same conversations. Those of us here who did not support Romney-Ryan took a real beating when we tried to point out that they were politicians and that their views on a variety of issues had evolved through the years.
Mr. Ryan’s recent statement only serves to strengthen my belief that the change sought by many here will never be accomplished through the political system.

Oh and let’s not forget changes that have been effected in a number of states, Planned Parenthood clinics closing left and right, abortion clinics closing, in Delaware, laws in the Dakotas, Missouri, Mississippi, but hey, a lack of information is our best friend! And I doubt if they care about those changes if after all, they effectively vote and speak up for infanticide. Just a good statement to excuse one from reality.

When do we look to individuals, instead of parties? Because you don’t like what I said, it automatically became ‘political partisanship?’ You bring my morality into the discussion? I am a voter, not a politician seeking large blocs of voters, to include those I can trick into voting for me, so I can advance an entire political agenda.

Now we see Ryan defended for his ‘views.’ 🤷

Really? No one discussed the middle East, the war, the economy, social security, healthcare, immigration, taxes, etc. etc.?

I could not agree more with you and Prodigal Son1. 👍

My view is that these victories are the result of the changing of hearts and minds. The political victories, while real, will have little impact in the long term. Most of the laws you mention will be overturned.
I don’t get your sarcasm relating to lack of information…it has been the distribution of information by gentle, sincere pro-life workers that has, in my opinion, had the greatest impact. Through their witness, and you can even leave out religious elements, they have changed many minds and led to the outcomes you list far more than anything in the political process.

Let’s remember too, that the extreme leftists to use a mild word of the Democrat party fight tooth and nail against the likes of Paul Ryan while others cast unfounded dispersions on people’s character:

Paul Ryan is currently taking flack for a planned speech at a Catholic University in Kansas over Ryan’s proposed austerity cuts:
There’s folly in judging another man’s religious convictions.
Trouble to be had when the application of another’s faith is put under the microscope and enlarged for public scrutiny.
I suppose since Obama was once only for traditional marriage, we should assume he still is! 😃

What a hoot this is! All the Democrats are surrounding Ryan like a pack of wolves. Sometimes a deer has to be bleeding before a person can see the wolves emerge from the woods. But emerge they do.

Ryan was finished as a national candidate in November, 2012, but I guess he’s symbolic for the left of all they hate, and particularly because he’s Catholic. But there are still only four prolife democrats in the Congress according to NARAL and only four pro-abortion Repubs according to them. And the prolife Dems are shrinking in number as are the pro-abort Repubs. The Democrats are still the party of abortion and homosexual marriage, almost without exception. And their supporters are the supporters of abortion and the profanation of marriage every bit as much as Obama is, and every bit as much as the abortion “doctor” himself is.

Democrat apologists continue in counseling despair to prolife, pro-marriage people. as I have said before, it reminds me of nothing so much as the “Agony in the Garden” scene in “The Passion of Christ” where Satan tempts Jesus to despair…“You can’t save them. No man can do it.”

And it’s the very same temptation to the sin of despair and the very same scandal.

I’m not a Republican. Never have been. But I am not so stupid as to see the evil in the Democrat party of today; a party of which I was once a very active part. The only way to oppose them is to support their opponents. Perhaps those who oppose the paganism of the Democrat party will not win everything with any one candidate or any group of candidates. But the moral imperative to oppose the profoundly evil is still there.

Don’t be fooled by the counselors to despair. There are plenty of them, including on CAF. If all Catholics voted against the Party of Death in even one election, the Dem party would have to change. Until that happens, it won’t. it will get worse and worse. It thinks you all support abortion and homosexual marriage as much as it does, or at least that your moral fibre is so weak that you will even give them a pass when (as with the HHS mandate) they order Catholic nuns to provide contraceptives and abortifacients for themselves. Now that they have officially endorsed abortion and homosexual “marriage” and begun acting to force it on even Catholic nuns, do you really think they’re finished?

Don’t give them a pass. Ryan isn’t the issue. The evil of the Democrat party and its leaders is the issue.

Now watch the Democrats here go into attack mode over the last post. Watch them reveal themselves.

How has that type of rhetoric been working out? When you attack and insult people through words my experience has been that their minds snap shut.

Democrats were single issue in this last U.S. presidential campaign. It was all about the so-called “war on women”. 🙂
So all we have to do is all vote Republican and that will fix this problem permanently? I don’t think the women are going anywhere. If there are no Democrats they will be coming after the Republicans. The Republicans can be easily bought too. Duh!

Correct, I don’t know too many Democrats who are “one issue” voters as Conservative Republicans seem to be.
Ha! So, you would vote for a Democrat who was opposed to gay marriage and gay adoption? I know plenty of “one issue” voters by your definition.

That’s because Obama was a nod-and-a-wink supporter of traditional marriage. Gay rights advocates knew he was on their side. Catholic Democrats probably knew too, but a lot of them oppose the Church on such issues, so they didn’t care.

Who is calling him a RINO?
