Paris, France, Sep 17, 2011 / 12:25 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- New research suggests there are now more practising Muslims in France than practising Catholics.
While 64 percent of French people describe themselves as Roman Catholic, only 2.9 percent of the population actually practice the Catholic faith. That compares to 3.8 percent of the population who practice the Muslim faith. The research was carried out by the French Institute of Public Opinion on behalf of the Catholic newspaper La Croix.
More worrying for Islamic authorities in France is the finding that only 41 percent of the country’s 6 million Muslims actually describe themselves as “practising,” although 75 percent are happy to label themselves “believers.” Seventy-percent also claim to observe the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
Can you believe it? The eldest daughter of the Church has become the faithless one. When will they stand up and fight the false religion of Islam?

Is secularism now bothering Islam/Muslims now too, at least in the West?

They probably left. I’ve seen that video where they (Muslims) pile out into the streets, defying the law, openly praying and blockading streets with their private military…scary stuff.

I think that has long been the expectation of most persons. Just as in the US, where Hispanic Catholic immigrants initially swell the ranks, the first and second generation after immigration see a large shift towards secularism.

It’s not a “false” religion. The Catechism itself has kind words for those who profess it.

How would you have them “fight” it? Burn down mosques? Not the right way to oppose another faith IMO. 🤷

I fight it by proclaiming my faith, openly, proudly and without fear.

Like this, but without anger, malice, hatred or contempt. We should be very public, and well informed in our faith. Too many times I see people think they have the upper hand, or, are ‘right’ because the person they ask about our faith is uninformed. The need to be able to defend the Truth.

Horrible.

Rich, baby, how are ya!!! Long time no see!!!👍

I don’t think ANYBODY here is implying “burn down mosques.” They are saying that it is time to become more openly vocal and critical of Islam and speak out about the attempted Islamization of Mainland Europe and India.
And since Holy Mother Church is the Truth, then, (even if not openly stated by the CC) Islam must be FALSE. At the very least, it is an IMPERFECT way of knowing God----like Protestantism, Judaism and other religions.

You know better than that, Rich. Come on. 👍

Yes, right again. Islam is an imperfect way of knowing God.

Hey, Europeans aren’t dummies.

They’re dhimmis. :egyptian:

Well, what can we expect? for a number years, Catholics have been in support of other religions. helping them building their temples, even donating money to help repair protestants buildings. Humm, i am amazed how people still surprised with the outcome.

So which would we as Catholics prefer: secularization or Islamification? Lets not fool ourselves into believing France has been a particularly Christian country recently.

Nature definitely abhors a vacuum…apparently so does religion.

Of the two evils, secularisation would be preferrable. It can be overcome even after decades as in Russia. Islamification (becoming islamic in culture, thought, religion and law as required by Islamic sharia law) is an outright rejection of non islamic religious following and to Catholics would be excommunication from the Church if allowing oneself to capitulate and martyrdom at worst, Dhimmitude at best, with no sanction celebration of Christianity allowed.

There is a reason for the Crusades - the advance of Islam.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crusades
The Crusades originally had the goal of recapturing Jerusalem and the Holy Land from Muslim rule and their campaigns were launched in response to a call from the leaders of the Byzantine Empire for help to fight the expansion of the Muslim Seljuk Turks into Anatolia.

Islam can be a very destructive ideology. Personally, Mohammed had more problems and did more crimes, then you can shake a stick at. These personal “issues” carried over into the religion he founded. What society based on Islam is at peace? Just ask the Copts, the original Egyptians. They are sorely persecuted in their own country. It is more though than just persecution. It is total destruction of a country’s culture. Arabic is considered the sacred language of Allah. The Koran is written in the Arabic language on tablets in heaven. This gives free rein to Islam to destroy the indigneous culture and impose Arabic customs and ways of life. Remember, Arabic was not the original language of the middle east, but only of Arabia.

I live in a city in the USA which has had a large influx of moslems. They have set up their loud speakers and blast away at all hours. This is a way of imposing their reilgion on us infidels. While most of the individuals are nice and try to be good neighbors, their philosophy often forces them to live as a seperate people. Women are poorly treated and forced to be covered except for their eyes.

I don’t understand why the church does not heavily evangelize these immigrants. They no longer live in a country which demands that they be moslem. I see a real hunger in them to be part of a religion, in which they don’t have to feel embarassed about their founder’s conduct. The women crave to be free. Yes, Jesus is the answer. It will be slow going for a very long time but eventually there will be a couple converts who will at first be persecuted by their families and local community but they will perserve as all of our early Christians did and then there will be a flood of converts. God Bless.

It’s not? So then Gabriel did visit Muhammad?
I heard a voice from the sky saying ‘O Muhammad! You are the Messenger of Allah and I am Gabriel.’ I looked upwards and saw Gabriel in the form of a man putting his legs on the horizon. He said: ‘O Muhammad You are the Messenger of Allah and I am Gabriel.’ I stopped and looked at him. His sight distracted my attention from what I had intended to do. I stood in my place transfixed. I tried to shift my eyes away from him. He was in every direction I looked at. I stopped in my place without any movement until Khadijah sent someone to look for me. He went down to Mecca and came back while I was standing in the same place. Gabriel then left, and I went back home. I found Khadijah at home, so I sat very close to her. She asked: ‘Father of Al-Qasim! Where have you been? I sent someone to look for you. He went to Mecca and returned to me.’ I told her of what I had seen. She replied: ‘It is a propitious sign, O my husband. Pull yourself together, I swear by Allah that you are a Messenger for this nation.’
This is the danger of ecumenism.

I believe we should all love each other and some muslims are trying to serve God as they know best, but it is a false religion.

If it is not, then Catholicism is false.

Can’t have it both ways. 🤷

So what do you suggest, do we get rid of our Arabic numerical system and void English and Spanish (Muslims occupied much of the Iberian peninsula at one time) of all Arabic words, many of them which start with “al-” (algebra, alcohol) by the way?

Just as a point of interest, though, the Arabic numerical system which we use (instead of the Roman numerals) was introduced by Indian mathematicians. Thus we are provided a zero and decimal places in our mathematical calculations.
