I am not saying that a Republican dominated government WILL solve the problems (much more likely if it is a Tea Party backed Republican government), I just know that it definately WON’T happen under the Democrats. They are the ones driving the car over the cliff.
With their foot firmly planting the accelerator to the floor.

(Quote from Ron Paul, from Caldera’s post).

The problem I see in this statement is that there is almost no way to compete with so many other countries in deregulation. We can get rid of child labor laws to compete with Indonesia or Nigeria, perhaps. Abolish minimum wage (which may not be a terrible idea if replace, say, with incentives to companies that pay higher wages) Americans still won’t work as little as Chinese workers will even in a completely unregulaed market. Deregulation won’t save the American economy, only a better trained and better educated orkforce will, and better technology, more research and development, etc.

Of course we need stronger currency, given we are a nation of consumers. Maybe President Obama was hoping devalued currency would boost exports, which might’ve been clever if the US had something to export. We have what, GM? Unforunately no one else in the world wants giant shoddily made cars that waste tons of gasoline and probably wouldn’t fit on half the roads in Europe.
This statement is false:

Deregulation won’t save the American economy, only a better trained and better educated orkforce will, and better technology, more research and development, etc.

As an experiment, the Carter administration abolished the CAB and the ICC and essentially deregulated the economics of the airline industry and the railroads, trucking and pipeline industries. Safety regs were maintained, but permission was no longer needed for rate changes and service changes AND one radically new thing: freedom of entry into the business.

The result was that some of the businesses went under. And some radical new carriers emerged such as Southwest Airlines. Some adapted. And some newbies were created.

The industry expanded greatly. Yes, some benefits and salaries suffered. But the traveling public benefited enormously as airline transportation, once limited to the “rich”, now became available to everyone because as costs were cut, ticket prices plunged.

Innovation became the name of the game.

We proved it with the airlines (and with the railroads, although the private consumer wouldn’t see it directly … because the innovations were mostly oriented towards shipping of commercial and industrial products) … and we can similarly prove it with every other field.

Just take a look at the healthcare field. Some areas are bureaucratic and expensive. Others such as dentistry and eye care are generally not covered by insurance and as a result there has been an explosion of innovation and cost reductions.

Compare how long it takes to get a CatScan for a person at a hospital versus how long it takes to get a CatScan for a dog at a veterinary clinic. In fact, in Canada delays for people CatScans are so lengthy that someone offered a two for one sale. You buy a CatScan for your pet and they will throw one in for you for free. The government said “no”.

I agree, we will need a Republican dominance to straighten out this country.
We need CONSERVATIVE control of the executive branch! A Milt Romney administration would be a waste of four years, based upon his record in Massachusetts. :( Rob

Are you the type of republican that squeals about any tax raises whatsoever during time of war on multiple fronts?

Is that what being conservative means to you friend?

I am the type of conservative libertarian who squeals whenever taxes get raised, particularly during fruitless hostilities blowing up citizens of foreign countries in the name of freedom.

So, even Elvis was more conservative than today’s republicans by a mile!

Makes you tightfisted patriots quite selfish when others in the uniforms of our country pay with their lives.

Your allegiance to billionaires is duly noted.

I was one of those “in uniform paying with my life” for nearly 20 years, so spare me the righteous indignation. And I am against all oppression and theft, even against “billionaires”. I am allied with Jesus Christ. Tax is not charity.

So it’s your humble belief that the ideal Jesus in your objective reality, would be a rightwing republican who squeals about rendering unto caesar any of his booty?

Seems kinda farfetched at best mate.

I render unto God what is God’s, namely, everything. I owe no loyalty to the state.

Your signature reminds of a stand-up comedy act by Lewis Black on the functioning of the American government: “The Democrats stand up and say ‘we’ve got a really bad idea,’ and then the Republicans stands up and say 'and we can make it worse.” Though instead of worse he uses the comparative adjective form of, well, a synonym of ‘excrement.’

Jesus told us we have an obligation to care for the poor. . He didn’t say was we can fulfill this obligation merely by voting for somebody who claim they would do it for us. . You are promoting the idea that we can delegate our responsibilities as a Christian to the government. That is such a distortion of Catholic theology that it boggles one’s mind.

Congress has the authority to limit the scope of the Supreme Court and the authority and reach of the EPA. Much as I hate to say it, we need a REpublican Congress, Senate, and WHite House to reign this whole disasterous agency and “global warming” hoax in before it destroys the country.
Not a hoax, unless you believe the Holy Father is in on the conspiracy. He actually calls for an international environmental oversight agency. Seems he would have no problem with the EPA. If anything, they need to be strengthened.

I challenge you to find a single poll that demonstrates Americans are generally in favor of gutting the EPA. Everything I have encountered shows clearly the opposite.

It greives me that the Pope seems so concerned with the things of this world, and apparently not so much about theologically important stuff, like telling politicians who promote same-sex marriage and abortion to stay away from communion.

How has your Failed Redistributionist done so far with his Marxist policies? We are taking in ASTRONOMICAL revenue to fund government NOW. It's not OUR fault that policies such as sub prime mortgages, TARP, "stimulus" bills, bailouts and Obamacare have robbed billions from our children and grandchildren. All these have been nothing more than disguised slush funds to buy votes, straight from the playbooks of Marx and Alinsky. The private sector is being robbed blind NOW, and guys like you aren't satisfied. You WILL be satisfied when our system collapses and the Constitution is scrapped. Rob

God bless you for your service. I too am sick to death of fighting to preserve stalemates, or to "nation build". The radicals among Muslims do not respect "compassion". This fuzzy mission is not worth lives and treasure. Rob
